We were outside selling drugs to a group of homeless men.
“You should be careful, this is Fernando’s spot and I don’t think he’s gonna be very happy when he finds out you’ve been dealing here,” the homeless junkie said.
Brian looked over at Jack for some kind of confirmation. Jack just shrugged.
How should I know? I’ve never sold drugs…
Lucas looked worried as well.
“Thanks for the heads up,” Brian said to the homeless man.
For the past few days, they had all three been sleeping in Jack’s small room in the basement of the abandoned warehouse. Jack slept on his makeshift mattress and helped the other two scavenge for materials to make their sleeping spots as well next to his.
So the room was covered in cardboard and newspapers and a few pieces of fabric. Brian’s pillow was a dirty jacket they found in the trash which they had rolled and put into a plastic bag. Lucas’ pillow was ripped cardboard stuffed into a plastic bag.
The way they made money was by robbing homeless men while they were sleeping. Most of the time they would only find drugs on them and never any cash, so they just took the drugs and sold it to other homeless people with cash. They managed to get enough cash from this to scrape by.
“I’m fucking bored,” Lucas said.
“Me too,” Jack said
“Don’t worry, we have the VR thing today. But what I’m more worried about is this fucking Fernando guy. And how the hell we are gonna come up in this world, I’m tired of sleeping in this shit place!” Brian said.
“Hey, that’s my home you’re talking about. "Be polite," Jack said.
They all chuckled.
Jack was very happy he had found Lucas and Brian. Being homeless alone was extremely boring and he finally had someone to talk to now, and friends. He loved having friends.
Some more time passed with them lazing around and doing nothing, and now it was time for them to head over to the VR place.
“Is this new? I think I walked past here a bunch of times and I never saw this before?” Brian said.
“I dunno. I’ve never seen this either. The fuck…”
Very close to the border between the industrial and commercial district, there was a big metal building. The exterior was covered in reflective silver and there were no windows.
“This is kinda sketchy,” Lucas said.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
They all headed inside the metal building through a metal door.
When they came inside, they saw a long hall full of doors.
The walls were made of thick concrete and the doors to the rooms were made of metal and looked reinforced to the point where you would need a big metal saw to get past it.
In front of the handle of the door was a QR scanner.
“Okay, so we each just go to a door next to each other and show the QR mail we got, and then we go inside and? I dunno,” Brian said.
Brian went first and scanned his QR code and the other two watched him.
When the door opened, they were expecting to see the VR chair capsule from the ad, but instead there was just small room with another big, reinforced metal door inside it.
“I think it’s so only one person at a time can come into the room?” Jack said.
“Ehm… okay boys, see y–”
When he was far enough inside the small room, the metal door slammed itself close.
Jack and Lucas stared at each other.
They tried to message Brian but his phone wasn’t receiving any messages.
“I think it’s because the building is made of metal or something?” Jack said.
“Okay let’s just fucking go inside. Not like a fucking company is gonna kill us or some shit.”
And so they each went to their own room, scanned their QR codes, and gave each other one last look before they entered and the door behind them slammed shut.
This place is super clean. Like a lab or something.
Jack thought while standing in the small room. The walls and floor and ceiling were made of metal.
In front of him, the second metal door automatically opened by sliding into the wall. He was expecting it to open like a normal door.
In front of him, he could see another metal room, but this time it had the weird chair capsule.
He went into the other room and as soon as he was inside, the sliding door behind him silently slammed shut.
This is creepy as hell.
In front of him was a big, white capsule 1,5 meters tall. It was shaped like it had enough space for a chair and person inside.
The capsule opened automatically and revealed a kind of seat made of green gelatine and soft foam that would adapt to your size.
Fuck this. I’m going home. This is suspicious as fuck. No way I’m getting into that claustrophobic nightmare.
Jack turned around and tried leaving, but there was no way to open the automatic metal sliding door.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!
Jack spun around and looked for anything to help him get out. He looked for cameras or handles. He tried using his phone to call 911. Nothing worked. Panic and claustrophobia set in when he realized he was trapped.
He kicked the metal sliding door until his knees and legs hurt. He tried everything he could think of.
He looked inside the capsule and saw that it didn’t really look dangerous. After a few hours or waiting, he was so bored that he decided to just go inside.
As soon as he was far enough inside to not get his arm or leg stuck, the chair capsule automatically slammed shut.
Everything went black and he couldn’t feel his body.
