Chapter 32 (Alexa, play that spider demon's song)

Chapter 32 (Alexa, play that spider demon's song)

As it stood, a rather proud and shining Aki left a great bookshop that had closed early a bit before evening. He had almost a dozen new books that lay half forgotten in his spatial pouch reserved for leisure.

Aside from having paid… a bit extra for the trouble of closing shop because of his distracting presence, entirely because of his consciousness telling him to do so, the whole experience had been rather emasculating.

Although he was remiss to call what he did as a threesome, it would also not be out of place in some kind of sex movie, with the big sister's jealousy for her little brother's luck bringing her into his hands, acting as if she were under some kind of effect despite his concious choice to not use magic to bend the psyches of those around him to imitate his own excited state.

Something he had immediately went back on after getting permission from all involved as the siblings seemed to prove to all present who had the most stamina as they kept demanding he bounce around like a ball to satisfy their weird play.

In the end, he ended things himself as he saw that maybe, just maybe, he was having a rather unhealthy effect on his partners as they tried to keep up with his physique with only his sporadic healing to prop them up.

Perhaps someone else would be rather frightened by this. He… had other things in mind for this new sustainability.

Which weren't all related to his sudden sexual prowess. Despite having capped the relevant skill after his meeting with Mina, it was much like his corpse dismantling skill in that it worked as a sort of guide rather than a representation of his actual capability, sans him having no fantasies about not sucking (Heh. Probably the post nut clarity talking up these jokes.)

No, rather was thinking about how even if he suddenly reached level 50 all of a sudden and leveled all of his new skills to ten in an instant, he would very much not be a proper threat yet. He was simply not that far removed from being a common person without training in their journey of power.

Comparatively, one could say that if this were a xianxia novel then he would still be accruing extra stuff to help him have a more solid foundation before surpassing the qi gathering stage. Too close to the start of the journey to matter properly despite how shocked the locals could get at his prowess.

By that same measure, he was doing a good time, not even a year and he was almost at the point where he could easily fight hill sized enemies on equal footing. Absolutely useless, but good.

As an example, one could call out the local gods, who could always come down and squash him like a bug so long as he was around their followers or hallowed grounds. An unlikely scenario all things considered, as it would be both an overreaction and cost them way more than just having their people hunt him down, but it could very well happen, especially with the situation he was dealing with.

And he had just had an idea on how to deal with that scenario after meditating on the issue for a few moments after some relaxing exercise. Truly, it was necessary to broaden one’s horizons and experience life in it’s significance if one was to reach any real power. Suddenly, a few weird and hypocritical buddhist characters seemed a lot more real from his point of view.

Of course, he wouldn’t disparage the fact that many authors used such characters as a way to needle actual buddhists and people thinking of joining the philosophy, but he was in a position to much more objectively think about such paths as they actually confluate quite a bit with his own. Though he imagined that if he ever discussed the Dao with an actual monk, all the weaker ones would die or be converted into self serving maniacs with even less restraint.

Philosophical concerns about being chased out of monasteries aside, his idea would only work once, but that was all it needed to do, as immortal beings tended to veer away from things that could threaten their immortality so long as they were not unavoidable obstacles.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

If he ended up still needing to kill a second divinity, then he could only hope that the system rewarded him properly for getting rid of the first one.

It was getting late though, and his own thoughts about godslaying aside, he was not quite at peak performance after fulfilling his own desires with such vigor. He needed sleep and the city should have more than enough hotels, so he happily took to one.

Today he rested, tomorrow he killed.

………………

Aki was not so happy to find that his enemies had decided to stop wasting minions on him, in contract to his upbeat mood of yesterday as he plotted many new murders.

Now, he imagined that they wouldn't be nearly as quick in evacuating their proper bases of operation as they did with these stations in the middle of nowhere, but he had not managed to uncover much information on those, as he didn't really know how to crack the code that shit was written in despite having copious amount of paper with gibberish on them.

So that meant he'd need to actually go forward and confront the would be fey on their biggest base of operation unless he wanted to go around and play the headless chicken as he checked every fault line in fate that he could perceive.

Honestly, he had expected at least a few more confrontations, but he supposed it was his fault for not setting up a time and place and just hoping for the best.

All things considered, he probably shouldn't even have revealed his capability to collapse souls on themselves at this point either, he'd simply wanted to.

…And he should probably start thinking about how his life would be when he once again didn't have a war to fight and no real home to return to.

With this mistake serving as an example, he simply could not guarantee his own subconscious interest in keeping himself alive, much like a child could not guarantee their undivided attention to a new game even if they found it interesting.

Sure he had plans, but Aki was also the idiot who allowed more than two months on fantasy land to pass by without anything really interesting happening. Outside of professional settings, he knew two people, and they seemed to think his mix-match knowledge of medicine was the most interesting part of him.

Sociability aside, he also had little to look forward to except the growth of his power and perhaps the advancement of his knowledge, which despite his personal bias, was still not nearly enough.

Perhaps if he had more like minded individuals he could reach a mental state where he was fine staying at, but as it stood, he could only splurge on excesses and perhaps some light relaxation when he tired himself as he had recently.

The realm he currently stood had simply had too little for him however. And while a relaxed environment of a xianxia cultivator sect might be preferable if only because he’d be able to mix his ferocity with his calm into extremes of a routine, he was not particularly enthused about plane hopping over such a low chance of possibility, only to have to start a colonization effort a whole plane away for no good reason.

Maybe things would be more interesting if he gained enough power to simply crush entire cities at once? Not that he was interested in gaining XP like that or anything, but he should be able to foster proper cultural change through it, curtailing the gods’ authority over the people and remodeling their roles in the planetary management as time went by.

It wouldn’t be too late to start looking to make his own life after that upheaval started. Surely there would be people of knowledge and will being brought to the forefront by such changes.

And if he failed to find himself during the period it’d also be fine.

Sighing as he looked around the sparse greenery of the hill he stood at, Aki thought about the End of this Cycle. He wanted to be married and realized by then, but it was hard to not think that people like him couldn’t somehow manage to avoid every chance of theirs. That he would manage to outlive his universe without finding any meaning to take for his person or a place to build one upon.

“Yeah, i’m unwilling to do that.” He muttered to himself, resigning to not get lost in his bloodlust like some himbo protagonist.

No, he should properly prepare.

Maybe get his ring back from the human fort and… no, it was just a mundane thing at the moment, so there were high chances of it simply being destroyed by any incoming high level fight he might get into.

Rather, he did know the location of some strategic resources that were not exploited due to the ridiculously powerful beasts guarding them.

Paying a certain one a visit seemed like a good way to finish his basic training without having any divine intervention come down his head.
