It didn’t take much longer than a dozen seconds for one of the guards. To get rattled down by arrows from goblins as he succumbed to the ground, taking down more than two goblins with him.
Help him.
H-h-e-elp him.
He’s dying.
He’s dead.
Why didn’t you help him?
Why didn’t I help him?
Josh was completely frozen out of sheer disbelief at the crude reality in front of him when Leo jumped out of the carriage with a vigor that betrayed his old age. The sword that Leo carried shined with a light blue aura as if mana had been imbued into it.
Flabbergasted, Josh watched as Leo cut down the child sized creatures one after another with such ease that the guard's death from before seemed fake, and the one versus thirty seemed to favor the old steward rather than the more numerous goblins.
The other guard, full of cut wounds and an arrow in the knee, stepped back to Josh so he could protect him.
As Leo was busy with dozens of goblins at his helm, a couple of goblins snuck behind the carriage and got to where Josh and his guard Bart were spectating the fight Leo was putting up.
With insane fervor and no fear of death, the goblins jumped at the guard. As he had nowhere to step back, he had to grit his teeth and fight a one versus three with his body full of injuries. Knowing that his chances of winning were less than favorable, he shouted.
“Sir, our Lord is in danger!” Directed at Leo, the young guard shouted with his eyes dim as if he had already forgotten about the chance that he would live to see another day.
He’s gonna die as well, isn’t he?
He’s gonna die?
Die?
Why him?
Why not me?
Josh’s mind was in complete turmoil. He didn’t even register a shout from Leo to hold his ground so he could come and save his ‘Milord.’ His dead eyes gazed upon the other guard, watching how he had succumbed to death as well.
Dead.
There was nothing between Josh and the goblin that was still alive and kicking, just a rusted dagger the now-dead guard gave him, hoping it would protect him.
One is still alive.
Not having any combat training, Josh could only use his superior physique to withstand the ugly, smelly beast in front of him, his hands shaken, eyes not able to focus on the goblin from sheer disgust at the scene in front of him where a dead guard laid, his body filled with countless wounds.
Leo.
Please hurry up.
The goblin charged at Josh with the same insane fervor and fearless actions as before. he stabbed Josh in the stomach.

Josh couldn’t help but gasp from the sudden burning pain as he pushed his dagger with all force he could muster toward the goblin's head; he felt some resistance from the skull before it cawed in and splattered him with green blood.
I killed.
It was a beast, but still, I killed.
In the seconds as he was trying to fathom the gore around him, the deaths, a gentle voice brought him back to the real world.
“Milord, Get back in the carriage!” Leo shouted to him.
Josh looked in the direction of the shout to see his steward surrounded by at least twenty dead goblin bodies. His suit was no longer black and white, as you couldn’t find a spot on it that wasn't covered by the green blood of goblins.
“Monster," Josh whispered as quietly as his voice could produce.
It didn’t take longer than a couple of minutes for his Steward to finish slaughtering the goblins.
"Milord, are you okay?" Leo asked, his breath calm and steady, not showing that he had just slaughtered dozens of goblins.
"No, I‘m not okay."
"Bert, " he took a deep breath."Bart, they died." Visibly shaken, Josh replied.
"And one of those freaks put a dagger to my stomach as well."
"Milord, I think we should forego the rest of the journey and hurry to the priest for you to get healed, " Leo replied with haste as he saw a deep wound in his Lord's stomach.
"I don‘t care where to get away from this." Josh shot back, turning his gaze away from the battle scene
"Milord, I need to set the bodies on fire, and then we can go." Leo told Josh before putting all the bodies of the guards and smaller goblins together in one big pile and setting them on fire.
Josh was woken up from his slumber by a deep burning pain in his stomach and his Steward shaking him. „Milord, we have returned to Daim Village. A priest of Goddess of Sol will see that your wounds get treated.“ Leo told him.
The fight was real.
I Killed.
Fuck this world.
As they entered the marble halls of the Church, Josh‘s mind was still not in it, so he couldn‘t even appreciate the beauty of the various tapestries that hung upon its halls. The tapestries depicted the Goddess Sol with grace, beauty, and elegance befitting of a Goddess. The tapestries depicted the Goddess with long hair, a color as bright as the sun, her face with zero imperfections, and her curves beyond perfection.
As he landed his gaze upon them, he got captured not by lust as her beauty was way too otherworldly to love but more fitting to appreciate for mortals.
But by yearning, as if everything would be okay if he just gave in to it and fell into her embrace, he would be reborn anew if he just gave in to it.
"Greetings, Ser Leo, Lord Josh." A priest wearing white and yellow ornaments broke Josh out of his stupor
What was that?
With fear, Josh shuddered, remembering how he got captivated after only gazing upon the tapestries; he let down his sight to prevent that from happening again
"Bishop Loki, sorry for intruding at this late hour." Leo did a slight bow, asking for forgiveness. „Milord is in need of immediate treatment. Could you please help us, Bishop Loki? “. Leo asked, his head still slightly bowed.
"Now, no need for that, Ser Leo. We all are children of Sol." The Bishop, with his eyes squinted, his smile all the way to his nose, he said to Leo.
"Follow me into the chambers where we will ask the Goddess to treat him," he added as he marched down the halls, pointing for Leo and Josh to follow him.
They entered a circular chamber with a statue of the Goddess in the middle.
The sculptor did his best but still failed to depict all of her otherworldly beauty.
"Could the Lord kneel before the statue?" Bishop Loki asked.
With a fear from being captivated just moments ago, Josh took small steps towards the statue not raising his gaze, afraid of appreciating her beauty.
When he kneeled before the statue, Bishop started chanting a prayer in a foreign language to his ears. Not long after that, some kind of yellow light engulfed his wound, and it began to close at a visible rate.
Shocked at how that was even possible, he raised his gaze to look at the statue. As he did that, once again, he was captivated by a warm embrace only a mother could give to her children. He could spend the rest of his life in this blissful embrace. Sadly, it was time to go.
"You are all healed, Lord Josh." The Bishop pointed out while putting a cup in front of him.
Knowing that his Lord didn‘t know the customs, Leo stepped forward and dropped two small golden coins into the cup.
"May the Goddess be with you." Bishop said as he bowed.
What was that?
I hope that‘s the last time I have to visit the church. It was hella creepy.
Also, I killed? I saw people being killed. How the heck i'm feeling?
Alright?
After no more than three hours have passed?
This whole world is just so freaking weird.
After returning to the carriage and riding back to the manor, Josh asked Leo.
"How much were those two golden coins worth?“ Leo, got interrupted from his job as a coachman, started explaining the currency to him
"Milord, that was two gold coins which are worth ten silver coins each, that in turn being worth two hundred of copper coins or twenty large copper coins." Leo explained the currency to him.
With one small copper coin roughly equivalent to a dollar and one gold coin about a thousand, that meant his healing had cost Leo a little bit above two thousand dollars. The most expensive coin, platinum, was worth ten thousand modern dollars.
Feeling tired from all the events that happened today, Josh only washed off the last bit of goblin blood as he headed to sleep.
The following day, he was woken up by Bella with excitement.
"Milord, your Guide is here."
