Alicia: "Excuse our audacity, however we wish to ask you not to invade the Human Kingdom of Evelia and show mercy to it and its citizens."
The Elven Queen stated the bold request, with a dead serious expression plastered across her face. The other Gold Crowns showed their 'support' of the request, all nodding and then looking at me with intrigued stares — waiting for my answer.
Like I said before, I already knew what kind of request would be made here, given that this was basically the exact same story as the DLC of the game that I played. The request was a rather bold one to ask of the Demon King of Sins, even I could admit it back when he was nothing but a fictional character. However at the same time — the DLC used this meeting and request to set up the Demon King of Sins plan to invade the Human Kingdom of Evelia, which would be executed during the games main story and final act - when the raid in initiated and a war breaks out.
However, while the games DLC story had the Demon King reject the offer and not even think about it... I felt like I should be more careful with my answer and not just replicate what I knew from the game. If I did that - who knows how long it would be before I trigger the flags of my demise.
I exhaled lightly towards their request, before looking down to the side - trying to make myself appear as annoyed as I could, while still keeping up the image of a fearsome Demon King. After a couple of moments, I looked back up towards the Elven Queen, with a bit curious gaze.
"And why would I reconsider my invasion? Give me one good reason to do that."
I replied, my tone and way of speech still almost perfectly managing to mimic what I remembered the Demon King of Sins to be like. The Elven Queen and the other 6 Gold Crowns all let out slightly nervous gasps, some even letting out a scuff - it was clear as day that, just like the game, they hadn't prepared any reasons for Avis or I suppose for me to not invade the Kingdom of Evelia. Not too surprising, considering that they weren't expecting the Demon King to actually listen to what they wanted to discuss and assumed that he'd leave the minute they brought up the topic.
For a bit, it was silent, before the Dragon-blood King got up from his seat, with the other Gold Crowns eyeing him - almost like they were telepathically telling him to watch his tongue or something. Then, he looked towards me, before clearing his throat.
Drevarn: "If you are willing to listen, I have a few reasons - Tyrant of the Demons."
Drevarn - the Dragon-blood King and the bravest of all the Gold Crowns. In the game, he even engaged in a hand to hand fight with the Demon King of Sins, where he managed to put up some what of a fight, even if it was because the Demon King was holding back a LOT. If you ask me, being able to put up a fight against someone, even if they're holding back, isn't an unimpressive feat. Especially when that someone who is holding back, is the freaking Demon King of Sins in this case.
Needless to say, I actually really liked Drevarn and he was my favourite character while playing through the game. I don't know why, but his coolness mixed with the Dragon-blood race makes him a very appealing character to me. I quickly cleared my mind, looking towards Drevarn with a cold deathstare — however he wasn't even a tiny bit intimidated by it. Like I said - bravest of all the Gold Crowns. He has some balls. However, it seemed as though Emily was a bit... Offended by the Dragon-blood King speaking up without my permission or something, as she was fuming with anger.
Emily: "You lowly lizard — who said you could speak to his Excellence without permission-?!"
"It's fine Emily."
I quickly cut her off, not wanting this to possibly escalate. In the DLC story, Emily had actually attacked Drevarn after her little angry comment, which resulted in him falling quite fatally wounded. However, I wanted to avoid that outcome this time around — I know it counted as changing the events of the story, but come on - as much as I have to play a tyrant, I still have human morals.
....Actually, now that I think about it - it's strange how personality wise, I didn't change at all. This whole tyrant personality is just me acting, but on the inside.. I am still the same as before. Makes me wonder how much actually changed about me.
Emily looked a bit shocked that I told her to stand down, even ready to protest against it - however, I simply gave her a cold deathstare, which immediately shut her up and caused her to step back a bit, keeping her mouth shut and not arguing against me. Thank god it isn't hard to appear intimidating with this body... I have no idea what I'd say to her otherwise. I then turned back towards Drevarn, before gesturing to him to continue speaking.
"I shall hear you out."
Drevarn bowed slightly towards me.
Drevarn: "I thank you. Now, I shall list down my personal opinion on why I believe the invasion of Evelia is not a good idea, if you do not mind Tyrant of the Demons."
I simply replied with a gesture which was a more or less way to say 'Go on' without any words being spoken. Drevarn took in a deep breath, as the other Gold Crowns stared him down with slight fright and concern - almost as if they were telepathically telling him to not say anything that I may not like. After a small bit, Drevarn continued to speak.
Drevarn: "I understand that you probably do not care for generating conflicts, as you and your army are unbeatable and we can't do anything against you, however in a political sense, this invasion is risking a lot. The Kingdom of Evelia is in a direct partnership and works together with the Kingdom of Hearnosa, which is also ruled by humans. The invasion of Evelia could result in becoming the enemy of Hearnosa and their 'Divine Protector' from could end up coming to take you down."
Drevarn began, explaining the possible consequences that may come if this invasion happens. Now of course, since I've played through the DLC story of the game and completed it, I already knew all of this. In the main story of the game, Hearnosa does actually end up participating in the war between the Demon Army and Evelia kingdom — however, the 'Divine Protector' is unsuccessful in slaying the Demon King. Mainly because he couldn't actually do anything to him... But that's not important. The 'Divine Protector' is someone I should keep an eye on, as he can be troublesome. Quite troublesome.
While playing through the main story, I was so pissed off while facing him as the main protagonist... That 'mock' battle took me several attempts due to his high damage output and unpredictable movements. Even in the fight against the Demon King of Sins, the Divine Protector actually did manage to damage Avis Virtiosa a bit, however that damage was so light, it may as well not have even been inflicted. And in case you are curious, that slight damage was inflicted as a result of the Divine Protector basically turning himself into an atomic bomb at point blank range. I'm surprised the Demon King withstood it honestly.
I looked at Drevarn with a slightly 'unconvinced' stare, trying to signify that I am not very bothered by the Kingdom of Hearnosa getting involved.
"And what of it? Are you saying that the 'Divine Protector' of Hearnosa is capable of harming or even killing me?"
I asked, sharpening my gaze a bit.
While the other Gold Crowns shivered in slight fear, Drevarn remained perfectly calm, before shaking his head in response to my question.
Drevarn: "I do not. However, he can easily rip through your demon army and even potentially take down your strongest subordinates, which would result in great losses for you."
Oh right... He has a point there. Before turning himself into an atomic bomb at point blank range, this 'Divine Protector' was able to take down all of the other subordinates of Avis Virtiosa — you know? Those 6 individuals who were present in the hall when I first awakened in this body. That does mean that through the story and gameplay, the protagonist never got the chance to face off against those 6 as they were taken down by the 'Divine Protector', however I wouldn't call it much of a big deal. After all, those 6 are basically just obstacles.
"And?"
I sharpened my gaze a bit more.
Drevarn: "Well, you can't exactly be a Demon King without an army. Even if your power is fierce and you're practically invincible, the humans are quick learners and adapters. Should they take down your entire army and all of your subordinates, they'll be able to focus all their power and time on figuring out how to take you down. Humans are ready to give up as many lives as deemed 'necessary' to try and take you down, which could result in this world eventually becoming nothing but a warzone that expands into other territories."
He finished, before bowing towards me once more.
Drevarn: "That is how I see it and my personal opinion about it. I would be honoured if you at least considering recalling the plan of the invasion."
The Dragon-blood King finished, before sitting back down. Well — I knew all of that already, so it wasn't new information. However, my response right now is going to be an important one. In the game - after Drevarn finishes off with his list of reasons, the Demon King immediately declines it and the situation escalates quite fast as the Dwarven King insults the Demon King. However, that will only happen if I follow the games story. I know I talked about following as closely to the original plot as possible, not changing much about it as to 'preserve' the natural flow of events. However... A part of me wondered right now — what if I agree to reconsider the invasion? What would happen? How would the events of the story change? Would they change at all?
Many, many questions rose to mind, as I dove deep into thought - sitting silently as everyone else stared at me in anticipation, awaiting my answer. If I am going to be forced to live in this world as the Demon King of Sins permanently, I would like to avoid being known as a tyrant or getting killed by the protagonist. 17 years of living as a tyrant that can do anything he wants doesn't sound very fun. Now, someone else in place would probably launch a raid right this instant, to avoid any death from the protagonist in the future, however that isn't a very good strategy in my opinion.
If I remember correctly, the protagonist of the game becomes the Hero because they were the descendant of the first ever hero. That was actually a plot twist in the game - as that revelation was revealed after the protagonist claimed the Sacred Blade of Hope. However, even if I prevent her from being born, anyone with a pure heart is capable of drawing the blade and use its power — it is not locked to a bloodline. It simply requires for someone to have a completely pure heart, which has not been tainted by any sins or anything, which most people in this world was in the case of.

After around 10 or something minutes of dead silence and me just thinking, the Gold Crowns began exchanging gazes nervously. This long wait was most likely making them all super anxious. Eventually, I exhaled before leaning back into the seat I was sat in.
"I am grateful to you for expressing your concern, however I am not very convinced about the consequences that may come from my invasion."
I stated, causing the Dragon-blood King to look away in slight disappointment, as he wasn't successful in convincing me — or at least, he wasn't successful in doing so from his point of view. Before I could continue my sentence, the Dwarven King slammed his right fist onto the table and looked towards me furiously.
Thesald: "So you're saying that the invasion will happen?! Is that what you mean?! Are you really that scared of the humans drawing that Sacred Blade of Hope again and using it to kill you—?!"
Before he could finish his angry rant, Emily suddenly launched her chained blade at Thesald and wrapped it around his neck, before leaping behind his chair and tightening his to the chair, with the other Gold Crowns watching in slight horror as their comrade was being strangled by Emily. I simply remained quiet, unsure what I should say next. If I let him go out of the blue, my whole act of a tyrant will be blown into smithereens and that is the last thing I want to happen. In the game, none of the Gold Crowns died during this meeting, as the Demon King of Sins left early before saying anything else. But if I don't do something, the Dwarven King will die...
Then, the Elven Queen stood up quickly and slammed her hands onto the table as well.
Alicia: "Demon King Avis Virtiosa! I ask of you, please, spare our foolish ally and forgive him for the insult he threw at you."
She asked, bowing towards me with a very anxious and worried expression. Bingo — this is my ticket to stopping Emily from killing Thesald and sparing his life without ruining my image. Now all I have to do is say the sparing in a way that still portrays me as a tyrant and not that I care for him. Well - I don't, but you know what I mean.
I scuffed, before looking at Emily.
"Emily, back down. Now."
I stated. Emily looked at me with a bit surprised expression, however with the help of a small deathstare from me, she let Thesald go, allowing him to breathe again - as he painted heavily from being almost strangled to death with chains. Then, Emily returned to my side. Afterwards, I looked back atbthe Elven Queen.
"I will overlook that display of disrespect this time, however I advise you to watch your tongues next time as I doubt I will have as much mercy."
I stated, sharpening my gaze onto Alicia, who simply shed a cold sweat and expressed her gratitude before sitting back down and throwing a furious glare at Thesald, who looked away, slightly shaking from fear. Afterwards, I turned back to look at Drevarn.
"Dragon-blood King, even through you haven't convinced me about the consequences, your display of bravery in my presence has impressed me greatly. For that, I will honour your request and for now cancel the plans for the invasion."
I stated, shocking everyone in the room. However, Drevarn simply exhaled in relief before throwing a quick gaze over at Alicia, before looking back at me. Emily was probably the most shocked, however I gestured to her to remain quiet for now.
Drevarn: "I thank you greatly Tyrant of the Demons. It is a great honour for me to have my request be acknowledged by you and carried out."
He stated, before standing up and bowing towards me. I simply closed my eyes, before rising to my feet and walking past all the Gold Crowns and towards the halls doors again, stopping just before them, before looking back at the Gold Crowns over my shoulder.
"With that, I will take my leave."
I stated, as Emily caught up to me and I pushed open the doors before leaving with Emily following me on my right side. The doors swung back closed, as silence took place in the hall. The Gold Crowns let out a collective exhaled of relief, before exchanging gazes with one another. They had somehow managed to convince the Demon King to not launch the invasion - well, Drevarn had managed to convince him to not do it. However, they still couldn't lower their guard down yet, as it was completely unpredictable on what the Demon King of Sins, Avis Virtiosa would do next.
The Elven Queen looked down at her right arm, as it trembled lightly. Had she not stepped up, Thesald would most definitely have been killed and then most likely incinerated by the Demon King... Which means that his mercy towards Thesald was one of the luckiest things that could have happened in her entire lifetime. After all... Receiving mercy from a tyrant that can do anything, even disobey the Gods, is not something everyone can manage.

As soon as we were out of the Elven Queendoms territory and back in the sky on top of my personal steed, I slid back into thought. That entire meeting wasn't actually all that long... If anything, I had managed to handle a meeting which in the game took over 2 hours to finish in under half an hour, which I'd consider quite a feat. I managed to ensure that I avoid the invasion of Evelia without making myself look suspicious infront of the Gold Crowns or Emily, which in my eyes was a massive step forward. If I can manage to continue avoiding anything that is related to the games original plot where the Demon King dies at the very end, I can successfully avoid my own demise and the world falling into turmoil.
However, ever since we left Elven territory, Emily has had a foul aura around her, almost as if she was annoyed or confused. I slid out of my thoughts, before looking back at Emily.
"Is everything alright Emily?"
The maid panicked a bit upon me speaking, quickly shaking her head before smiling towards me.
Emily: "Everything is fine your Excellence. Please do not worry."
Yeah no - that is complete bullshit that everything is fine. Something is up — she is clearly confused. Most likely about me actually cancelling plans for the invasion of Evelia. While I could explain it to her now, I feel like it would be better if I explain the reason behind it back at my castle when all of my closest subordinates are present and not just Emily, as that will save me the trouble of repeating my explanation god knows how many times. As we soared through the skies, I slid slightly into thoughts again. I had avoided the major event that led to the Demon Kings demise, being the invasion... However I had not secured the prevention of my death yet. There was still one more thing I had to do. You see, remember how I said that you don't need to be part of a bloodline or be chosen to wield and claim the Sacred Blade of Hope and that really the only requirement is for someone to have a pure heart.
I wonder...
I grabbed onto the sides of my jacket, before opening it and revealing the skeletal body underneath. I stared down at it, slightly admiring my new Skeletal appearence for a few moments, before shaking my head and refocusing on what I was going to see. I looked around in my ribcage, however did not find a single trace of it. It was like I had thought — despite being a technically 'Evil' tyrant and villain of the game, the Demon King of Sins.... Has no heart. That means that unlike demons and my subordinates who have a wicked heart or the every day folk who have a tainted heart, I don't have a heart - thus don't have the 'categorisation' of one.
Now, in theory, could that mean that I am able to... I scratched my chin carefully, before chuckling to myself lightly and closing up my jacket again. Emily looked at me a bit confused, tilting her head slightly to the right side.
Emily: "Your Excellence? Is something the matter?"
"Emily, we're changing course."
I stated, cutting Emily off. Emily gasped slightly in suprise, before shedding a slight sweat.
Emily: "May I inquire as to where you want us to go..?"
She asked. I simply let lose a small chuckle, before quote on quote "smiling" before looking back at Emily with shining eyes.
"We're off to the ruins of the Human Kingdom of Inara."
I replied, before looking away once more. I had just one goal in mind — there was one way to prevent your death completely. So, how do you prevent your death at the hands of the protagonist who wields a sword that can harm you? Simple.
I simply have to claim the Sacred Blade of Hope before the protagonist can ever get the chance to even learn of its existence. I whipped the chains on my dragon, who rose up and roaring before dashing off in a completely different direction, this time, towards the ruins of a Kingdom, which had tasted first hand the power of the Demon King.
After a long while, we had made it to the ruins of Inara, which was once a sprawling kingdom owned by humans. Nowadays, this place is nothing more but a wasteland, unfit for any life to live here. The land was scorched by the Demon Kings flames, which made it impossible to grow anything in these lands, thus causing humans to abandon this territory. A little fun fact - the kingdom of Evelia was founded by the survivors of Inara, who wanted to start a new in a new place. Me and Emily approached the main castle, which used to be the heart of the Kingdom of Inara, being its pride and symbol known by many.
The castle now is nothing more but ruins, with its once beautiful walls and architecture demolished and scorched by flames. It also was overgrown by dead trees and bushes, which had somehow managed to push their way through the rubble of the castle. As soon as we got close to it, a couple of flashbacks of the war that happened here popped in my head — only they were in the form of almost actual memories, like I had been there in person. Must have been because of the fact that I had taken on the form of the one who was present here during that war. Emily examined the castle with slight worry, before looking towards me.
Emily: "Your Excellence, I do not understand why we are here. Unless you wish to expand the territory of the Dark Lands, this location is worthless and has nothing to concern ourselves with."
True — for the most part, we had no reason to be here. However I had not told Emily that the purpose of this visit to these ruins was to claim the Sacred Blade which had been used against me years ago - or I guess, used agaisnt the Demon King, considering that I wasn't there for that war. I didn't reply to Emilys question and simply headed onwards, entering the ruined castle, with Emily keeping up with me and sticking to my side as she followed in. After entering, it didn't take long at all for us to move further into the castle, before reached the place where the First Hero had lost his life years ago. It was a long hall, all in ruins - rubble and what not every where, with the entire roof being gone. However, in the dead centre of the hall, there was a rather wide podium, with the thing I had come looking for.
Emily gasped lightly upon sighting it, immediately taking a more defensive position, while I simply let out a small exhaled and 'smirked' to myself.
Emily: "That blade... It can't be...! I saw it... Huh?"
Before she could finish her way of thought, I began to move forward and towards the Sacred Blade. I could feel a sort of 'aura' coming from it, which felt heavy — almost like it was applying weight to my chest. Emily watched me with fear and distress, about to run after me to stop me, only for me to gesture to her to remain where she stood.
"It will be fine. The blade is harmless without someone to wield it here."
I stated, as I walked up to the sword that was stabbed into the podium. The blades aura was the strongest up close to it — it almost felt like it even was reacting to my presence near it. I felt a hint of hesitation to try and claim the blade, as a slight panic came over me. What if my theory is wrong and the blade can't be claimed if you don't have a heart? What then? It's power can kill the Demon King of Sins and I don't know whether it actually needs a wielder or if it can defend itself if it wants... However, after a bit of hesitation, I placed my hands onto the swords handle, before spreading my legs out slightly. Emily watched in anticipation from afar.
"...I am going to prevent my demise no matter what. For that — I need you..."
I began to pull the blade lightly. To my surprise, after a moment, it began to react — golden lightning firing out of it as golden mist and energy began to make it's way up my arms. This energy was seemingly trying to infuse itself into my body, however due to my powers as the Demon King of Sins, this energy was being repelled by my own body. But — the blade was not harming me. I could pull it out and actually claim it.
Emily watched in fascination, as I simply pulled on it harder — the sword beginning to slowly move out of the podium, with the intensity of the energy that came from it increasing. It continued to attempt and infuse its power into my body, however was unsuccessful, so that energy kept on being exerted on the area around. The entire castle ruins began to shake, as Emily grew increasingly worried. However, before she could say anything or do anything, I gave one last pull on the sword, before successfully pulling it out of the podium and sending a massive surge of energy which created even more holes in the castle ruins, before sending massive surges and waves of energy across the land. The sword glowed brightly for a couple of moments, golden lighting crackling around it while I panted lightly, staring at it.
Emily watched in fascination, before walking up closer to me and kneeling down.
Emily: "Your Excellence, you never fail to impress me with your exploits..."
She stated lightly. I stared at the blade for a few more moments, before lifting the blade up high into the air above me, lighting firing off it. I had been successful — I had changed the events of the future forever right here and now, as the Sacred Blade of Hope was claimed by me - the Demon King of Sins.
