Stuck in Magical Bronze Age

3 — It’s not Middle Ages…

Jin left the temple in anger. He tried to keep stone face but couldn’t anymore. It’s always him. Fate just loves to play with him. It didn’t bother him before, it’s not like having a teacher that kept forgetting to grade your test for half a year is a reason for a breakdown, but this is. Everyone is getting super cool power. Powers of fire, water, ice… all the elements and he gets nothing. Not even a useless ability that would eventually become the most overpowered thing in this world.

— This world isn’t like light novels at all… — Jin still had that tiny bit of hope that maybe… just maybe a miracle can happen. Sometimes protagonists say things like “Inventory”, or “Equipment” and an RPG like screen appears in front of them. But nothing like that happened when Jin tried it. Despite that he kept trying. Any game like word that came to his mind. Before he knew it he was at the end of the stairs. He was now in the city.

But that city was not the one he expected. There were very few people in robes, walking from place to place. There were two big mens, talking to each other about a fair trade, and a third smaller man was carving their words on a stone tablet. “Huh… they don’t have paper… wait. What time period is this?”. Jin expected a generic medieval looking town with stone castle in the distance but this looked more ancient. The temple he spawned in was made out of stone with columns but houses around him were much more basic. Thatch roofs, very small one room buildings. How basic is this society? Jin, lost in thoughts woke up. He needs to start doing things. Just now he realised that people were looking at him. Now aggressively but with confusion. Probably because his clothes are something they’ve never seen before. He tried to approach a teenager carrying a basket of herbs but couldn’t. His social anxiety was now kicking in. He started running thru the main street, trying to notice as many details as possible. And then he saw blacksmith. He was selling tools for farming, but they were not made out of iron or steel. No. They were bronze.

— Bronze Age, huh… — Finally! Jin felt proud. He managed to discover this mystery… but what was the point? It’s not like the knowledge of current technology is helping him in any way. Jin breathing became heavier. He covered his eyes. Maybe if he opens them again he will be in his bed. Nope. Still another world. He started panicking. No… He was panicking this whole time. He just now realised it.

Still breathing heavily, he started running. Where? He had no idea. As far from here as possible. Jin kept running without even looking around. After few minutes he was too tired to continue. He raised his head. Forest.

— This looks just like my world kinda… — he stopped to admire the nature. The greenery of this world was prettier similar, but felt more… alive. Maybe colours around him were more saturated. Maybe all the plants were more bushy. Seeing such calm place he took a deep breath. Maybe he can survive here after all?

— Alright! Time to use my nerd knowledge! — immediately he felt awkward saying that. But it’s not like anyone could hear him anyway. He picked some berries and mushrooms that looked edible. He even found some wild carrots growing nearby. There was a change that in this world carrots or raspberries are poisonous, but he was willing to take those chances.

He was quite satisfied with his current progress, but then he realised how many more things he needs to take care of. “Water. Well, the fruits are juicy so maybe that will be enough for a while… Fire. I can sneak back to the city and steal a torch or lamp perhaps..? Shelter. City again…?”

— Another pointless quest… I’m never doing anything right… eh, I guess it’s time to go back to the city… — as Jin turned around he heard someone. Someone was running in this direction. “Run!” he thought, but Jin, filled with fear stood in one spot, frozen… waiting for unknown…
