2 — Outsider.

Just as the light blinded Jin he fell asleep. But instead of dreaming of random things, he found himself in a dark room. Room with no walls and no roof. He panicked. I’m a rush of adrenaline he tried to run, but as he took his first step he tripped.

— Watch where you going! — someone screamed at him. Jin recognised this voice. It was one a student that was sitting next to him. That’s a relief. Whatever is happening, he was not alone.

— Oh, sorry, it’s so dark I didn’t… — Jin managed to reply. Yes, he was happy that he’s not the only one here, but he still had difficulties talking to people. Ironic. An introvert who hates being alone.

— Is anyone there? — another voice asked. Female this time.

More and more voices joined the conversation, everyone describing what just happened from their perspective. Even after a long talk, they still had no idea what was going on. A regular day that was interrupted by a bright light blinding everyone only to wake up in this dark room.

What was their conclusion? They died and this is afterlife, they no clipped thru reality right to the backrooms, this is an alien invasion… each theory made less and less sense, but then again, they were in a very bizarre situation, so it’s not like sense and logic was something they tried to use.

Jin was sitting quietly, not participating in the conversation. He listened to it, sure, but he was too afraid to speak. He also had a theory on what happened. They are being transported to another world. Just like in the light novels he spend all of his free time to read. And despite being in this unknown and scary place, he felt… joy. He immediately felt disgusted. How can he be happy? But if this is actually happening…

Before people started panicking for real, the darkness disappeared. Now the students were standing in a Greek like temple structure. The statues of dragons and griffins were surrounding them. Jin felt that fancy adrenaline rush. So this it, he was right. They are in another world!

— Greetings, heroes! — just now they noticed a beautiful woman sitting on a throne. She had long white hair and golden crown. Even her simple white robe looked too perfect — As you may have noticed, this is a different world. I beg you, oh great heroes! Save this world from evil and lead humanity towards a bright future! — The goddess was satisfied. They were panicking at the start, but as she let them go from her binding spell, they look quite excited and hyped! Now just to give them some magical powers and make them lead her lazy subjects into wars and fights, which will result in innovation and then finally she will have a thriving society of her own! — To ensure your adventures will go smoothly I will personally bless you with powers of magic! You young man will possess a power of water. And you beautiful lady will be master of shadows. — she kept giving those people some powerful spells, so that her people will be envious and try to improve too. She was going all out! Now there’s one more thing light novels she read always did that resulted in the most promising results. She pointed at Jin, the last one without power — And you, poor thing are useless. You shall receive no gift and are banished from this land! — she said in her best intimidating tone. Revenge story. The one that starts from the lowest lows and goes beyond! How exciting! She has to pinch herself to stop giggling, but why that boy has no reaction..? Is he shocked?

Jin couldn’t believe his ears… what did he do? Why is it always him. Isn’t god all powerful? What difference does it make to give him a cool power or not. Why is there always a guy who gets nothing.

He heard people talking between themselves, making fun of him, saying mean things. This situation looked like light novel more and more… huh? Light novels. Jin read a lot of them, but he never understood why there’s always a guy who gets nothing. “Now I get it…it’s for amusement”. Gods see them as pets, fun living things that they can toy with. And those protagonists from light novels always react in dramatic ways, swearing revenge, swearing that they will kill all the gods. Well. If Jin gets nothing he may as well not give the satisfaction to that horrible goddess.

— Fine. I’ll go. Bye. — he left the temple and never looked back. The goddess was surprised. “Is he okay..? I feel bad now. He looked so sad for a second there. He’s probably the type of guy who always holds his emotions inside. But I can’t go after him or ask those kids to do it… they will get suspicious, I need to play my role! Anyway, I can probably check on him later anyway! Yeah, that’s what I’ll do!” She thought to herself.
