Chapter 15: Rival (Part 2)

“Behind you, motherfucker!!”

Spurt, Spurt

Huge amount of blood spilled like a fountain from the chest of the NPC. The Sword that pierced the chest of the NPC was stained with blood, but a bright glow then vaporized the blood.

The NPC, on the other hand used every ounce of energy to turn back, only to find the one he was hunting happily to be looking at him with the eyes with which he looked at the players ealier.

“H-How?”

The baffled NPC vomited mouthful of blood as he looked towards the Spear Master with bloodshot eyes. He soon lost his strength in his legs and kneeled.

“Y-You b-backstabber.”

The NPC coughed up a lot of blood. He tried to say more but couldn’t say more as he slowly lost his energy due to the sword.

“What?”

The Spear Master, confused by the words by the NPC felt aggrieved. He felt a weird rage and grief boiling inside him. Even though the words are said by a program, he felt guilty but rage at the same time.

Not knowing how to handle his emotions, he slashed the swords upwards, cutting through the chest to left clavicle. The blood splattered everywhere and the NPC fell, with his face sinking in his own blood.

“Is this…how I die? Getting stabbed… from….behi…”

The NPC mumbled but cannot complete the whole sentence as he slowly lost his ability to speak.

At that moment, the eyes of the NPC rolled back and so, his consciousness faded deep into the void.

“We did it!!”

The Spear Master kicked the NPC from back and retrieved the sword from his chest and left the body of the NPC.

He was overjoyed at the victory. He forgot the weird feelings as he felt like years had passed fighting the NPC but now he felt the relief beyond anything. He lifted his hands and again felt the powers that were swirling around him.

“I did it. We did it everyone.”

He was sad as everyone sacrificed themselves and gave their powers to him. He, who was not confident if he could ever defeat the unknown NPC with everyone’s powers is now overjoyed.

He let the Sword hover around as he took a breath.

But at that moment, he felt a weird.

“There should be a pop up and rewards on defeating this bastard.”

The Spear Master then fiddled with the system in hopes of getting any notification but never got anything back from system.

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

He then moved towards the NPC and then started to fiddle with his body in order to get any item but at that time he felt strange vibrations from the body.

“Hmm?”

He searched everywhere of the body but never found anything. He pondered as to why no reward or notification came up. Not getting any answers himself, he tried to ask the goddess.

“Do you know anything about this Goddess?”

[….]

Strangely, the goddess never replied. She remained silent after he absorbed the power of his friends and the Supremes.

While thinking of the reason, he noticed that the arm of the NPC that was shattered by his attack was regenerating.

“Tch…even after death he is still stubborn enough for his body to regenerate.”

He took hold the hilt of the sword that was hovering near him and pointed the tip towards the middle of the chest of the NPC.

“Die and let us enjoy our game like before.”

He pushed the swords, piercing through the already pierced chest. The tip of the sword then touched a white ball, in the centre inside the body of the NPC and at that moment the body of the NPC convulsed and then a dark energy rapidly covered his body.

The Spear Master got cautious as the energy was enough to push back the sword. He moved back as he felt that the energy was something that he couldn’t have handle if he were to be that near the body.

“What the hell was that creepy energy? I have never seen that type of energy in that game.”

The body then hovered and then stood again, like a puppeteer controlling a puppet and then the whole body started transforming and grew in size.

“What the hell?”

He looked towards the now oversized body of NPC that he thought died. Different body parts of demon, dragons, gods, demi-humans and various other species can be seen as the body slowly turned into a chimera.

“Shit!! Let me rest now please!!”

The Spear Master inwardly cursed the developers for creating this mess but reluctantly prepared himself as he pointed his sword towards the now chimera turned NPC.

At the same time when the spear master stabbed the NPC with the sword.

Crack

The NPC opened his eyes.

“…”

He looked everywhere but found only one thing.

White. Pure white space and nothing else.

“Where am I?”

He asked as he looked everywhere but not a single life form can be found in that space by his eyes. He turned left, he turned right but only white space came into his vision.

“What the heck is this space?”

As he pondered over his own question, someone placed a hand in his shoulder.

“??”

“Hello.”

The NPC was scared. He got goose bumps all over his body, his spine felt cold and cold sweats dripped from his forehead.

‘Who…is he? Why do I feel so much fear just from seeing him?’

A weird sense of fear and reverence took over the NPC as he looked towards the unknown person.

The NPC, collecting his mind and steeling his heart asked the unknown person a question.

“Who are you!! How am I not able to sense you?”

But the unknown person stayed silent. The NPC, not getting an answer got agitated.

“Tell me!! Who are you and why am I here. I was fighting that Spear Master just now. Send me back so that I can kill that coward.”

The NPC ranted but the unknown person still remained silent. He then turned back and suddenly two chairs appeared out of nowhere.

“!!”

‘Creation!!That’s the power of creation.’

Who the hell is he to wield the power that belongs to the Supreme Goddess? Even I am not able to use that power. If not for those player bastards and the Spear Master especially, I would have absorbed that Goddess’s power.

“Sit.”

The unknown person, ignoring the NPC who was lost in his own thoughts told to sit.

“Hmm?”

The NPC looked confused as he heard the unknown person.

‘Strange. He didn’t tell me to sit and never faced me while saying that. Who was he referring to?’

While he wondered, a new, familiar sound was heard behind him.

‘Thank you.”

Then, a silhouette appeared out of thin air, with an appearance that shocked the NPC even more.

“How …am I… there?”

The face of the new person appeared to be the same as that of the NPC. The unknown individual moved by the NPC, with a faint smile.

He then took a seat, folded his legs as he looked towards the NPC, while the NPC gulped, feeling that something big was going to happen to him.

“Shall we talk about you and your future now, ‘Key’?”
