I walked with him through a long hallway and into a room full of computers, printers, and monitors. "I am Dr. Willian Clark," he told me as he sat at a chair in front of a desk. "What is your name?"
"I'm Eddie Smith but most people call me Mr.Smith," I said as I sat down. "And you are?"
"I am the head scientist of Coral City. Now, please tell me what brings you here."
"I want to see the city," I said simply.
"Oh, really?" Dr. Clark leaned forward and placed his elbows on the table. "And why is that? You're not planning on staying? Or perhaps you would like to join us?"
"No, no, nothing of that sort," I replied hastily. "All I want to do is take pictures of the city. That's it."
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
The doctor frowned, then shook his head in disbelief. "You're serious? Is that all?" he asked. "That's why I'm here. I've been looking at this planet for years and have never seen anything else of interest other than the city."
"I see," the scientist replied, leaning back in his chair. "But you know what? We need information about the planet too. And we can't just allow everyone to come here and take pictures. Who knows how many people will try to sneak inside and take pictures without permission?"
"I'm not here to steal anything or spy on the citizens," I assured him. "I only want to take photos."
"Is that so," the scientist mumbled. He stood up and walked towards me. "Fine," he finally said after a moment of hesitation. "I'll let you in. But I expect you to behave yourself. Also, don't touch anything. And make sure you leave everything exactly as you found it. Do you understand?"
"Yes, I do," I replied quickly.
"Let's go." We walked outside and stopped in front of a large metal door.
"Here we are," Dr. Clark said as he pressed a large red button. The door opened instantly, revealing an elevator shaft. "This is the entrance to Coral City. Once you step inside, press the blue button to return to the ground floor."
"Thank you very much."
