in their environment… Well, I'd deal with that later. "I know I can count on you," Captain Vargo added and turned back around. I thought about running away from the window and hiding under the bed. I looked down at the backpack on my shoulders and realized that I had done exactly what the captain had instructed me not to do. Maybe I should've listened to him. But I couldn't change the course of events now.
*** After walking for almost half an hour, I reached the edge of the forest where two roads met. When I turned off one of these paths, I noticed a sign that read "Coral City: 3 Kilometers". With a sigh, I headed north along the road. For a long while, the trees blocked most of the light, casting everything into darkness. I continued walking until the end of the path, which meant I was now walking across a narrow bridge with nothing beneath my feet but air. The sky above me was completely black, apart from the faintest glow of a distant star. I kept moving forward and soon made it to another path, this time following a path that led uphill. "So far, so good," I whispered to myself as I trudged up the steep hill. For hours, I hiked up and down the endless hills, occasionally stumbling upon small streams full of clear mountain water.
Eventually, I came to a clearing surrounded by tall, thin pine trees. I looked around for a place to spend the night and spotted a large log lying against a tree. It was covered in thick moss and seemed perfectly comfortable to sleep on. As I approached it, I heard a loud rustling noise coming from a nearby bush. I froze, unsure whether to look for cover or keep walking. I decided to do the latter, although I was glad I didn't run away when I saw the creature emerge from the bushes. It was a giant centipede, at least four meters long, with thick black legs. Its body was covered in tiny bumps that reminded me of the skin on an earthworm. Although it looked almost harmless, it moved with such speed that I barely had time to open my mouth before it crawled onto my leg. I screamed and jumped backwards, knocking over the log. The centipede fell on top of the log and ran around for a few seconds before disappearing back into the bushes. I spent the rest of the evening collecting wood and building a fire. It took quite a bit of effort and a few moments of panic before I managed to put it out and pull out a piece of bread. I ate the entire thing without chewing and then stared at the flames for a while. Eventually, I lay down next to the fire and fell asleep.

*** When I woke up, I couldn't remember much except that I was hungry and cold. The sun was shining directly into my face, making it impossible to see anything. I sat up slowly and looked around the clearing. My backpack was gone, along with all the food I had brought with me. I also noticed that the fire was now dead. Everything was soaked in dew, and my clothes were covered in small ice crystals. I stood up and started walking through the woods, trying to figure out where I was. The first thing I noticed was a large stone wall with two towers on either side. I walked closer and realized that the towers were connected by a wide, flat walkway, which stretched between them. On the other side of the road was a town built from smooth white stones. At least, that's what I assumed it
