Chapter Two

As I slowly regained consciousness, I realized that I my head was aching, as though someone had bashed it with a hammer. After several minutes of groaning in pain, waiting for the pain to pass, I tried to sit up. As I moved there was a lot of clinking sound coming from under me, as though small pieces of metal was rubbing against each other. When I finally was able to open my eyes, I froze in shock, unbelieving as to what was lying all around me

There were mountains of gold coins, bladed weapons, armor, gems, and other things I could not identify but looked expensive all around me with small balls of light floating around randomly here and there. As I slowly peeled my eyes away from the mountain of gold to look up, all I was able to see was the roof of a rocky ceiling high above me.

“What the heck. Where did that goddess send me to?” As I slowly stood up, a few sheets of paper that had been lying on top of me fell onto the floor which I promptly picked up.

There were three sheets of paper, one of which appeared to be a letter, another a list, and the last was a smaller piece of paper had a strange drawing mixed with writing on it. Taking the one that appeared to be a letter first, I realized that although the language that was written was one I had never seen before, I was able to read and understand it perfectly.

Zero, I sent this letter with you along with some supplies as sending you with nothing on you would make me appear stingy. All the supplies that I have sent you is in the storage ring I gave you. The storage ring, as the name implies, is able to store any item that does not have a soul contained within it. To put in or take out items inside the ring, all you need to do in think about it and it will appear or disappear from the ring and appear nearby you. Keep in mind that it takes a small amount of time for this process to occur. The list that is with this letter lists all the things I have placed into it.

Also, I have sent you to the treasury of the faction where my artifact is being kept. The reason being is because if I had to wait for you to find the artifact, you would take years which is time that we cannot afford to waste as the damage the faction can do to other worlds would be far too much in that time. If you were to search around you, you will find a small glass orb. That is the artifact I need you to break, just smashing it with a fist will do with how strong your new body is.

And feel free to take the stuff around you as the faction who owns this treasury, in my opinion, does not deserve it. Just make sure you don’t get caught. Once you finish what you need to do, infuse mana into the talisman until it starts burn up whereupon you will be teleported to one of my temples. It will be located on a faraway continent, just in case the faction finds out it was you somehow. To infuse mana just focus inside your body where you will feel something flowing inside you. All you need to do then is direct that flow to the talisman. To learn this process usually takes several weeks but you should be fine, I hope. Well good luck and have fun. From Goddess Helvia.

As I finished reading the letter, I realized that I had not even found out what her name was as I was talking to her before. But seriously? Just because Goddess Helvia felt rushed for time she had to send me into the middle of an enemy territory. I mean it would be fine if I was sure I could use the talisman, but what if I’m not able to feel the flow or whatever?

Thinking of what would happen then , I immediately tried to do with the goddess had written and focused inside myself to see if I was able to feel the flow. If I wasn’t able to, I would be in serious trouble. After several minutes, I had still not been able to feel anything flowing inside me. After panicking for a while, I forced myself to calm down. The goddess had said that usually the process would take someone several weeks. I shouldn’t try to rush this so I began to meditate once more to find the flow of mana. As minutes turned into hours, I had finally felt the flow and was able to direct it slightly.

Luckily, during this time, no one had entered the treasury, but I wasn’t sure how much more longer I had. Quickly getting up from the lotus position I had been sitting in, as I thought that was the best position to be in to meditate, I began to scramble around the large cavern looking for the glass ball she was talking about.

It was actually pretty easy to find and only took a few moments as it was all alone on a pedestal in the center of the room. Balling my hands into a fist, I swung my fist downwards onto the artifact. However, at that moment, I had forgotten that my new body was unimaginably strong so what I did not expect to happen was that instead of just smashing the ball, my punch had caused a small crater to form on the ground, causing the cavern to slightly tremble.

“Woah. I’m just like those wuxia characters I read in novels back in my world,” I stared at the crater smiling, “I wonder if I can smash down mountains like they often describe them to do. Maybe I’ll test it out later.”

As I took a few moments to ponder about my newfound strength, I started to hear shouts and loud footsteps coming closer.

“Aw snap. They most likely heard that and are coming here to check,” noticing the black metallic ring with a small red gem on it, I hesitated before deciding what to do, “well the goddess herself said that these guys don’t deserve all the treasure so I might as well take what I can.”

Closing my eyes, I followed what was written in the letter, I thought of all the treasure around me flowing into another space that I imagined was the space inside the ring. Feeling small distortions in the air, I opened my eyes to see that the only thing left was a wide empty cavern the size of a football field.

“Well that was easy.”

As the voices and footsteps that sounded like hundreds of people got closer and closer, I hurriedly took out the talisman and began infusing mana into it. After several seconds, when the paper finally started burning to ashes, the door on the far side was flung open as people ran in. As I looked up, I was able to see that they appeared to be wolf man like beings. As they were too far I could not see how large they were, but they were muscular with furry humanoid bodies with wolf heads, several of whom was wielding spears and swords, and wearing metal armor that protected their vital areas.

When they saw me they froze for a moment before howling and running at me with all four legs. But it was too late, I gave a small wave as I felt the space warp around me and the next thing I knew I was standing in another cave, but this one looked a lot neater than the one I had just been in.

Unlike the other cavern that had rugged walls and ceiling, this one looked like it was cut out neatly, with delicate carvings and statues on the wall. Behind me there was a large alter looking stone that had fresh looking fruits and meat that made my mouth water. When I heard a gasp from the other side of the room, I swung my head around to see several people. One was dressed in a white priest like robe I would see in a game, and the rest were dressed in plain cotton clothes, most with extremely faded colors. Some were kneeling while others looked like they were just standing up.

“W-w-w-who are you,” asked an elderly who was wearing the priest robe.

Racking through my head, I tried to think what was best to say in this situation so that they wouldn’t panic. However before I could say anything an adorable little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes suddenly stepped forward.

“You’re a hero right? Mommy said that Goddess Helvia will send a hero to save us if I was a good girl prayed every single day. You came to save us right?” she walked a closer with a large round eyes staring at me.

Unable to deny the little girl that so desperately wanted me to be the hero, I put on a gentle smile and kneeled down in front of her, “Yeah. Goddess Helvia heard your prayers and sent me to help you. Just let big brother hero here know what the problem is and he’ll make it all go away.”

Although large traces of suspicion could be seen in their eyes, the rest of the people began to recover from their shock. A women whom I guess to be the mother of the child dashed out to grab the little girl and pull her back, “Hush Lilia. Be a good girl and stay with mommy.”

“But mommy-“ the little girl started to struggle.

Not wanting the little girl to start a scene I told her, “Good girls listen to their mommy right? Go with her, I won’t be going anywhere for now.”

As she stopped struggling and let her mother pull her back the priest stepped out.

“Excuse me sir. But are you truly a hero? I mean, it just seems so sudden and suspicious that after all these years of no prophecy or signs of anything from the goddess, a man suddenly pops out and says he’s a hero.”

I look at the little girl who was wrapped in her mother’s arm, and turned to face the priest, “Do you think we could talk a little more privately?”

The priest nodded and gestured for the other people to leave before turning back towards me.

“Now, may I ask what it is that you needed to speak to me privately about? I’m guessing you’re not really a hero right?” he gave a wry smile, “I am guessing you are a cultivator am I right?”

“And how did you guess that?” I tilted my head slightly.

“Well you suddenly appeared out of nowhere and only cultivators, mages, and wealthy nobles or merchants would be able to afford talismans or artifacts that could do those. And from your simple cultivators clothing I would think that you wouldn’t be a mage, noble, or merchant as they would most often be wearing far more extravagant clothing,” he stated.

“So the mages, nobles, and merchants like to flaunt their wealth huh?” I guess the rich and wealthy do that no matter which world you go to.

“Yes, and also those who like to flaunt their wealth are the ones you need to be most wary of,” he frowned while crossing his arms.

“Why? They are powerful so I guess getting on their bad side isn’t a good idea but what about regular cultivators. They are pretty strong too right?” Confused I asked.

He shook his head, “No. When I say that you need to be wary of the rich I do not mean because of their strength, although that is one thing to keep in mind. But mostly it’s because of what comes after. First of all, to the wealthy, their pride is worth more than commoner lives like us. For example, if we happen to be standing in their way, in most cases they cut us down and kick us off the road before they ask us to move. Our lives are worth dirt in this world. And secondly, they usually have a large power backing them. If you were to kill or injure a cultivator, worst that can happen is that the person or his friends and family comes looking for you. But if you were to so much as hurt a hair on a young master’s head, their clan or army would chase you to the ends of this world.”

He looked back up at my face, “But why are you asking this? This is common knowledge anywhere you go?”

“O-oh,” I began sweating. I didn’t think that telling him I came from another world would be a good idea, as he would most likely consider me to be insane, so I hastily thought of an excuse, “I was actually in seclusion with my master in a far off land. I never interacted with people and only focused on training myself so I am lacking in knowledge about many of the things you may consider the norm. I actually appeared here because my master sent me off to learn more about the world and the talisman sent me here.”

I wasn’t sure if I was being completely believable but that was the best excuse I would come up with on the spot.

“O~h. You are one of those students who learn from hidden cultivators rather than in a sect or school,” luckily it looks like the lie I came up with happens often enough in this world.

He then suddenly quieted down and looked me in the eye, “Since now I know for certain you are a cultivator, would you mind telling me what Physique you are? Currently we do have a problem surrounding our village, and we need as many cultivators that are willing to help that are at Sky Physique or above. We already hired some mages, but the more cultivators and mages we can get, the better the odds of success.”

Hearing this, I debated whether or not to tell this priest my true cultivation as although the goddess had assured me that people with Divine Physiques were not that rare, I was not certain of how rare was not that rare to the goddess. After debating for a second I figured I should hide my true cultivation as if he did know my true cultivation, he might expect more out of me which for now I would be unable to do as I do not even know how strong I was, nor how to properly use my current strength.

“Luckily I am of have a Sky Physique so I would gladly help you out, as I did promise that little girl that I would.”

“Yes! Thank you! And of course we will pay an appropriate amount for your help,” he then beckoned me, “Please, follow me. For now I will find you a place to stay and we can discuss the request tomorrow with the other cultivators and mages that we hired.”

Leaving the temple, we went through a short tunnel before finally arriving at the entrance. As my eyes adjusted to the bright light from the sun, I saw that the entrance to the temple was half way up the side of a small mountain. As I looked down below, I saw a large town that was surrounded by a tall stone wall. Outside the town there was a small clearing, and surrounding the clearing was a large forest that stretched as far as eyes can see to the base of the mountain I was standing on.

When I looked more closely I noticed that there were in fact two narrow paths that led out of the village. One was connected to the mountain on which I saw the people, whom I’ve seen inside the temple from before, walking towards the town, and the other led into the sea of trees, which I assumed led to another town or perhaps even a larger city.

After walking for an hour or so we arrived at the town. At the gates there stood six guards who talked to the priest about me for a moment before letting us through. The town as I saw was extremely populated and busy. Lining the main streets were stalls that sold things ranging from fresh vegetables and meats, to weapons and jewels with people so packed that it was hard to walk a few steps without bumping into someone. Soon he led me to an inn named Wolfhead Inn where he paid for fees and bit me farewell, letting me know that he would come by early tomorrow to pick me up before he left.

The innkeeper then led me upstairs to my room in which there was a small bed made of wood with no blankets, and a small chair and table. Towards the side there was another door in the room that led to the restroom. When I saw there was an actual toilet, although made of wood, that could flush I felt relieved as I was not a fan of having to squat on the floor while using the restroom.

The left after explaining some rules to me, which basically summed up to not bothering other guests during my stay. Once he closed the door as he left, I noticed that there was a tall but narrow mirror that was leaned on the side of the wall. Walking up to it and looking at my reflection I found that nothing had changed from the last time I had seem my body before I came to this world. Black hair and eyes just like the goddess had changed at that time. My body appeared to be a bit more muscular bit still lean. And just to make sure I pulled down my pants, and yup, still as big, as when the goddess refused to shrink it. I honestly was worried that if I ever do find a girl, she would be far too scared to actually do it with me.

Looking out the window, I noticed that the sun was still high up so I decided to first take a look at what was the goddess had left for me in the storage ring then take a short stroll outside. Taking out the list that the goddess had given me, I realized that none of the things that the goddess had given me could possibly be considered normal.

First, there were a thousand phoenix blood recovery pills that could completely heal someone in a matter of minutes even if they were half a breath away from death. It could even cure most incurable diseases.

Second, there was a Divine tier sword that, in its sheath, looked like a plain wooden pole about two and a half feet long. But when I pulled out the blade, I saw that the straight thin blade was a beautiful gray black that almost two feet long. From the description that she wrote down, she made it look like a simple hidden blade so that I wouldn’t get chased around in circles by the greedy.

Third there was a Misty Aura Ring. Apparently different tiers of Physique would give off a different type of aura that allows other cultivators to know what Physique you are. This ring would allow me to change what aura I give off so even if I had a Divine Tier Physique, other cultivators would think that I was a Sky Physique if I chose to change my aura to a Sky Physique aura. Apparently this ring was extremely simple to make and even I could make it after some practice, but no one had found a way to make it in this world yet. She had given it to me just in case I wanted to keep a low profile for a while.

Finally there was another pill, but when I read the description for it, I thought that I read it wrong. There was ten God tier Mana Vein Creation Pill. Even from the name you could tell that it was a pill that could allow someone to get mana veins. But the thing was, didn’t the goddess say that the only way to get mana veins was to be born with it? Looking at the bottom of the list, I saw that the goddess had left al note.

I know that I told you that the only way to get mana veins was to be born with it, but that only applies to the lower realm. In the God realm we can obviously create mana veins Divine tier and below. I mean come on, didn’t you figure it out when I made Divine tier mana veins for that body you’re using right now? But keep in mind that whoever eats the pill will feel as though their bodies are being burned, frozen, and ripped to shreds all at the same time as the mana vein is being created. I’m giving you these ten pills so that if you ever find a girl or several you want, you’ll have a super easy time wooing her. Think of it as a favor for the twenty two year old virgin*wink*.

As I read this, I would have been extremely grateful to the goddess and sung her praises if not for the last line she had put in. But anyways, with these items, I should have a very enjoyable time in this world, and I was free to do whatever I wanted as I had already completed her request. Honestly that request was a joke in itself. If she was going to send me right next to it, why did she make it sound like such a big deal as though I had to go across land and ocean and search high and low for it. Well whatever. Since I’m free, I might as well figure out what to do next after I help this town out with their troubles.

Before I left, I had put on the Misty Aura Ring and fiddled with it a bit so that my aura would show that I was a Sky Physique like I had told that priest. Then, I holstered the hidden sword on the left side of my waist, and left the inn to stroll around the town.
