“. .k . .up . .er.”
. . .
“ .ake. . .u . . .ro.”
. .Ugh. . Who is it?
“WAKE UP ZERO!”
HUH? What? Who?
As I opened my eyes I realized I was sitting on a very comfy chair in room that looked similar to an office.
“Finally you’re awake. I’ve been calling out to you for hours.”
On the opposite side of the room facing me behind a wooden desk with her golden hair and blue eyes was one of the most beautiful looking women I had ever seen.
“Who are you? No wait. First, where am I?” As I slowly able to think clearly, I realized that I was not in the place I had been before I fell asleep.
“You’re in heaven. Or hell. In the afterlife? Whatever you mortals call it nowadays but simply put, your dead.”
“What? But I was just sleeping. Wait. Did I get assassinated?”
“Something like that. You got took a bullet through the head shortly after you fell asleep. I believe the person who put it there was known as Rick?”
But why would he. . .Well damn that idiot. I told him that I wasn’t interested in that slut. She probably had more STD than virus in her.
“Pity you had to die because of someone’s delusion.” She said with a bored looking face.
“I was just killed in my sleep by an idiot, and for a fucking slut at that, and a pity all I get? I demand a redo.”
“I’m a goddess. I’ve seen worse. Like that one time a girl got raped by a bunch of goblins for days before she finally got eaten alive. So back to my question.”
“Wait. Goblin? Really. Are they those ugly short little green midgets?”
[Yeah. But not as little as the ones you’re thinking of. But shouldn’t you be more shocked at being able to talk to a goddess? You mortal souls usually just stay in limbo for however long it takes to lose your memories before you’re reborn. Talking to me should be a considered a privilege you know.]
I figured when you said this was the afterlife or something. Just didn’t care. Your question?
“Well whatever, I’m not into that little ‘Glorify me little mortals’ like some of the other gods are. Consider yourself lucky,” she said as she leaned backwards into her chair.
“Your Question?”
“Ok. Look,” she leaned forward again resting her arms on the table,
“The thing is, in the entire planes of existence there are multiple worlds. We call this the Planes of Existence. And those giant wolves that appeared in your world came from another world in the Planes of Existence. They’re actually a new type of soldier that some factions in another world were breeding. They sent them to your world as kind of a test run to see how they would do.”
“Wait,” I held up a hand, “There’s another world, I get it. But why send to ours? Why not just test it in their own world? Pretty sure they would have a hard time keeping track of what they’re doing from a different world right?”
“They were, I guess you could call them, a prototype. The factions didn’t have any way to control the beasts yet and couldn’t risk letting them lose on their own world. Having access to your world actually gave them the perfect grounds to test their new creations.”
“And how were they planning on monitoring my world after setting them lose? Before that, how the hell would anyone have a way to even move between worlds?”
The goddess suddenly began to avoid direct eye contact.
“Well. A certain god that may or may not be me, accidentally lost an artifact that not only lets whoever is using it to see into a different world, but also lets them open up a hole to another world.”
“. . .It was you right? Don’t deny it.”
“Well. Before you say anything, just know that it was a complete accident. The artifact is actually something common amongst us gods and goddesses, and we use them to drop things that mortals would consider sacred relics and treasures. Just to make things a bit more interesting. But last time when I tried to send a treasure down, I accidentally dropped the artifact through the hole as well.”
“Oh. Is that so,” I tried to control myself, but come on, as I saw it, she pretty much fucked up my life on Earth.
”Well, GO FUCK YOUSELF! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I SUFFERED CAUSE OF YOU?! YOU #@!#@#@@! ALMOST EVERY HUMAN DIED ON EARTH AND THE FEW OF US THAT SURVIVED HAD TO HIDE IN HOLES LIKE RATS! YOU %$#@$%! . . .”
- - - - -Several Minutes Later- - - - - -
As I finally started to calm down the god continued, with an amused look in his eyes.
“That was the first time I’ve had a mortal insult me to my face. But as I was saying before you so rudely interrupted me, I accidentally lost the artifact, and because of some restrictions placed amongst us gods, I’m not allowed to go down and bring it back. So~~~, I thought of another solution.”
“You’re probably expecting me to go down and get it for you right?”
“Nope. I want you to find it and destroy it. As much as I would love to have that artifact back, I told you that there are restrictions placed on us right? One of those restrictions prevents us from taking anything from a lower realm. Even if it was placed there by one of us. Otherwise everyone would be snatching things left and right and nothing would be left in the lower worlds.”
“Why me though. Is giving me another life your way of saying sorry or something?”
“Do you want the real explanation or the one that makes you feel better.”
“The real one obviously.”
“I got better stuff to do than spending forever looking for the perfect candidate. So I just picked a random soul from the world affected from my mistake, which in this case, was you. Think of it as winning the lottery,” she said as she flashed a smile.
I honestly couldn’t tell if she was actually reflecting on her mistakes or not, but I decided to just let it go since thinking about it, she WAS offering me another life regardless of her reasons.
“So, if I were to help you out, what would I get out of this?”
“You get to live again. Plus there’s mana and ki. You can do magic and stuff, just like those cartoons from your world.”
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“First of all, it’s not cartoons. It’s called anime. And second of all, will I get benefits after being revived. I am doing you a favor finding the artifact right?”
“Well for starters you’re going to be summoned to the new world with a body that’s been made by yours truly. Reason being is that I’m not really allowed to move your old body to another world, as that would count as me taking something from a world even if I put it back in another. That would violate the law that restricts us. But what I can do is make a new body for you and send it down after putting in your soul. Soul’s don’t count as material by the way so it doesn’t violate the law even if I were to move your soul between worlds.”
“Well, since you’re making a new body for me, can I change some things about it? Like upgrades?” I asked hopefully.
“Absolutely. I was actually going to ask you in a bit if you wanted any changes so you don’t start crying later about having an average and weak looking body. And if I’m going to make something it’s got to be the best of the best or other gods would look down on me. But keep in mind, I can’t make any massive changes like making two heads as that just doesn’t work for you. And also, I won’t accept any request that would make me create a something that would give other gods a reason to make fun of me, like how I created something ugly with a third arm for whatever reason. Oh, and I did make your body and mana veins divine level so you’re welcome.”
“Mana vein? I think I have some idea, but what exactly does it do?”
“Basically mana veins lets you store and refine the surrounding mana so you can use it to manipulate reality to a certain extent. Creating water, controlling rock, bending light to create illusions, you name it. And obviously the more you try to manipulate reality, the more mana you need. Also keep in mind that it takes about a hundred times more mana to create and erase something in reality than to manipulate something that already exists.”
“And divine level? A ranking system?”
“Pretty much. For body level, the people in the other world call it Physique. It goes from Mortal, Earth, Sky, Heaven, then Divine. Everyone is born with a Mortal Physique and can train their bodies by absorbing the ki to strengthen their dantian in their lower belly to become Divine Physique. When cultivators, as people who train their Physique are called, increase their Physiques, they not only gain a large increase in strength, but they also age slower with each level they increase, and able to use their ki in certain ways.
At Mortal Physique they only have a normal body. When they get an Earth Physique, their bodies change. The changes are: healing their swollen muscles, cleaning their bodies of impurities, and allowing them to manipulate the ki that is stored in their dantian. In other words, they will slim down and appear far more appealing and beautiful, but also getting a far more durable body.
When they get a Sky Physique, they grow stronger and can use the ki to glide through the air and stand on water. When they get a Heaven Physique, they once again get a stronger body and are able to use ki to actually stand on air. Once they get a Divine Physique, their bodies grow many times stronger and become ageless, although they will remain at the age when they achieved Divine Physique so the old looking will stay appearing old and the same with the young. That’s why some of the mortals in that world wait to achieve Divine Physique if they achieved Heaven Physique far too early for their tastes.”
So that means that since I’m going into the new world with a Divine Physique, I’m going to be immortal as long as I don’t get killed? That’s awesome!
“So what about mana vein levels? Are they different?” I asked.
“Very,” she nodded, “for people with mana veins they call them mages regardless if they cultivate as well or not, and for mages, they are born with the mana vein they have. They cannot increase their mana vein level but it can be decreased if the mana veins are damaged. And although the ranking are the same, the amount of destruction you can do with the same level mana vein is far different than Physique. If you have Mortal mana vein you can create a human head sized boulder, if you have Earth mana vein, you can create a human size stone, if you have Sky mana vein, you can create a small room size stone, if you have Heaven mana vein you can create a small house sized stone, and if you have Divine mana veins the power spikes and you can create a small castle. But that’s only a way to use mana veins that the world you’re going to uses to test what level they are. If you were to use the mana to instead control the elements instead of creating them, imagine what you can do.”
“So if we were to compare Physique and mana veins, how would you equally match them against them each other?”
“If you have a mage who was to use only their mana veins, and someone to use only their Physique, you would need the person with only Physique to have one higher level. So for example, if someone were to have a Mortal mana vein, you would need an Earth Physique to evenly match them. If someone were to have a Sky mana vein, you would need someone with a Heaven Physique to stop them. And for someone heaven mana vein you would need Divine Physique to stop them. And for Divine mana vein you would need at the very least a ten people with Divine Physique to stop you. That’s how large the gap between cultivators and mages is, and this is considering that the mage is not using their Physique.”
“Wow. So I’m going to have both Divine Body and Physique right I can crush most people to meat paste right?”
“No. There are plenty of Divine Physiques in this new world. At most they are usually placed as commander of a thousand soldiers. Also although Divine mana veins are very rare, there is still more than tens of thousands of mages with Divine mana veins currently alive. Most people with Divine mana veins cultivate to become Divine Physiques, so there are mages with Divine mana veins from several generations. That’s why there are so many people with Divine mana veins in this world.”
“So. Although I’m going to be strong I’m not going to be one of the few mages that’s strong but one of the many right?”
She frowned at this, “don’t look down on mages in the Divine Levels Zero. Kingdom’s and factions would literally cover you in wealth, women, and whatever they can give you if they can get you on their side. Also, this world is at least a hundred times if not a thousand times bigger than the world you came from so tens of thousands is still a very very small number compared to the number of people who live in that world.”
“Wait a thousand times?” I was skeptical about what she just said, “Regardless of how strong people can be with ki, they would still be crushed by the gravity.”
“Oh. Right. Almost forgot. Speaking of gravity, I’ll tell you now that some things in this world is different than your old one. Like for one there’s no such thing as atoms in this world so no you can’t use cheats like using knowledge of oxygen to create a stronger flame using mana or something. This world is made up of different types of mana, not atom, and elemental spirits control the laws of this world. So don’t freak out if you see floating mountains, oceans or something. That’s just the elemental spirits changing the laws of that particular area. And these spirits relates to your mana veins. Basically, when you’re using your mana veins, you’re feeding the spirits the mana your mana veins refined and feeding it to the spirits. In exchange they change reality for you using that mana. So using your mana is a lot more easier than you would expect. Your only limit is what you can imagine.”
“Alright I’ll keep that in mind.”
“Now that we got all the important information about the new world out of the way, we should go to adjusting the body you’ll be living your life in this world.”
She suddenly smiled in a way that made me feel extremely uncomfortable before saying, “Oh and before you decide what to change first, you might want to make you manhood a bit bigger. Even I’m kind of disappointed in you si-“
“STOOOOOOPU! Make it bigger but do NOT say that it’s small!” My face flushed red in embarrassment.
“Your pretty sensitive about your small size,” she started choking with laughter.
I pretended not to hear her and tried to move on, “Next, can you change my hair to a silver color and eyes to red?
“Huh? I mean there’s hair that’s blue, green, and several other colors in this world, but silver hair? And red eyes? I don’t think there are any humans with that hair color. Some races of Beastkins maybe but not humans.”
“If I’m going to be one of the strongest beings in this new fantasy world I might as well do my best to be unique. Plus I always had a thing for vampires in anime and stuff and they usually have silver hair and red eyes.”
“Oh. Let me see if I understand this correctly. So the main reason you want silver hair and red eyes is because you’re a vampire otaku right?” she made a weird face at me.
“Yeah I guess,” I gave a small shrug.
“Well request denied. I think you would look a lot better with your current black hair and eyes so I’m not changing that.”
“Ugh. Fine. Then just leave my current looks. If I can’t go exotic I might as well go normal.”
“Alright. Your already pretty decent looking so I guess you’re pretty satisfied with your current appearance. Here, check it out.”
Waving her hands a body that looked close to mine, in the mid-twenties, that differed slightly in other places appeared in the center of the room. Well most changes were slight except for the rod between my legs.
“Holy crap! How big did you make that thing,” shocked I couldn’t stop staring at it, “I don’t even think I can find a girl willing to take that.”
“You have one right here,” she winked.
Blushing furiously at hearing that I insisted she made it a bit smaller. She finally reluctantly agreed making it just slightly smaller. I still thought that it was way too big but she refused to make it any smaller.
“Well if your done with anything else I’ll be sending you off now. Have fun but don’t forget complete my request,” with that she cut me off from still trying to convince her to making my manhood smaller.
“Hey wai-“ before I could finish, she snapped her fingers and I felt myself sucked into my new body. Then She snapped her fingers again and a dark hole opened up beneath me into which I fell.
“You didn’t tell me what the artifact looks like or where to find it!” I shouted out before falling unconscious in the darkness.
