While Snow and Ryner went to tour the city together, Maya and Evelyn, who had rejected the offer that was extended to them, were walking to Suky’s house. Maya had told Ryner and Evelyn a bit about how Suky used to sneak into the Catallard’s residence to meet her. When she said that she was going over to the tiger girl’s house, Evelyn had voiced her interest in meeting her and asked if she could accompany her.

“I’d simply like to get acquainted with your friend, especially since she seems good at sneaking around. The more connections we make, the better… For Ryner.” [Evelyn]

Maya nodded in understanding to Evelyn who muttered out her last words. Without turning her head, the vampire looked at the dark blue-haired woman’s face from the corner of her eye. This beastman had chosen to serve Ryner and was her accomplice for that one night. It was that one imperfect, yet incredible night where she gave her first time to the man she loved for more than a thousand years. This beastman had agreed to help her accomplish it.

“Maya.” [Evelyn]

Evelyn said in a low voice so that no one else could hear her.

“Why did you decide to help me back then? With getting Ryner drunk.” [Evelyn]

Maya looked at her and tilted her head with an expression that said “Why are you asking this now?”

“I didn’t question your agreement to lend me a hand because it would increase the chances of success. But, now that it’s been accomplished, things have settled down and it’s just the two of us, I want to know. Truth be told, I thought you would reject it.” [Evelyn]

“But you still told me? What if I revealed it to Master?” [Maya]

“I had a plan prepared for that.” [Evelyn]

Evelyn thinly smiled which sent a shiver down Maya’s spine. Her tail stood up and her fur was bristled for a second.

“If Ryner finds out, he’ll definitely lose his trust in us, so why take the risk? You’re already in that sort of relationship with him, not to mention that my method was rather… Underhanded.” [Evelyn]

The slave walking next to the vampire understood what she implied. Certainly, they ignored Ryner’s thoughts and indulged in their desires using his scarred and well-trained body. For her who had gone through a terrible experience with some bandits, it would be normal for her to fervently reject such a plan. However, she accepted it.

“That’s true. I don’t want Master to hate me and I did regret it at first.” [Maya]

“Then…” [Evelyn]

Evelyn asked, a bit taken aback. They had met not long ago, so she didn’t think that the beastman would care about her this much.

“Of course~. We are accomplices~.” [Maya]

“Though that’s not the main reason.” [Maya]

“Really now? Then, what’s the main reason that pushed you to get Ryner drunk?” [Evelyn]

Evelyn raised an eyebrow and asked her what she meant with her gaze.

“Back then, when you told me about what you were planning, I strongly felt that helping you was what I should do.” [Maya]

“You chose to help me based on a gut feeling?” [Evelyn]

This time, she really wasn’t sure how to react to that.

“Yes~. I mean, back then it was the same feeling that told me to follow Master.” [Maya]

Maya cheerfully spoke and touched her collar with the tip of her fingers.

“It’s a woman’s intuition~.” [Maya]

Once night came and Ryner finally returned to the guestroom after being dragged around by Snow, the black-haired man was sitting on his bed and meditating. Sitting cross-legged in the dark room that had a bed, a desk and a chair, he regulated his breathing and emptied his mind. He did his best to find peace while feeling every fiber in his body, confirming his current condition.

“Ryner? It’s me, Evelyn. May I come in?” [Evelyn]

Interrupting his meditation was Evelyn’s voice that came from the other side of the closed door.

“Yeah.” [Ryner]

Receiving his permission from his brief reply, the blonde vampire opened the door and stepped inside the guestroom. Instead of nightwear, she was wearing her usual black dress with the red rose on her chest that one would normally see at a ball.

“Maya’s sleeping at her friend’s house and I’m feeling rather lonely now that she’s gone. That’s why I was wondering if we could sleep together.” [Evelyn]

“Maybe another time, Evie. Rather, why are you feeling lonely when Maya’s gone? You sound like a kid.” [Ryner]

“… Has it become unpleasant to sleep with me?” [Evelyn]

Evelyn had an anxious expression and asked in a meek voice. Seeing this side of her that she never showed to others made him think that she was indeed a kid. She always acted tough and dignified whenever people were around, but her facial expression always changed when it was just the two of them.

She said in a displeased tone as she looked up at him, but then she pleasantly smiled again and closed her eyes in bliss.

“I get the feeling that you’ve grown more attached to me since coming to this world.” [Ryner]

“Do you need to ask why?” [Evelyn]

“… Yeah, ok, my bad. Anyway, are you going to sleep in that dress?” [Ryner]

First, she cautiously took a sniff. Already, her cautiousness nearly crumbled by the numbing smell.

Without thinking, her face moved to his neck and her hand crawled over his chest as her fingers groped around. She raised her right leg, putting it on top of his legs as if she was hugging a body pillow. Her thoughts were becoming muddy and her eyes were turning moist. She was getting intoxicated on his smell.

“It’s good to see you back safe and sound.” [Leodor]

“It’s good to be back.” [Leonhart]

In front of the king of Ofauvra sat his older brother, Leonhart. He was a few years older with more wrinkles on his face, which only accentuated his sharp, brownish red eyes. His orange hair was of a dark shade and reached his middle back, unlike his little brother’s hair that went past his shoulder. A beard covered his chin and his body was covered in ripped muscles just like Leodor.

“How was your trip to the ruin?” [Leodor]

“You have to ask? The Terdims I brought with me covered my back. Not like I needed any help anyway.” [Leonhart]

“Gahaha! As arrogant as always! That part of you hasn’t changed since we were kids.” [Leodor]

“And you haven’t grown taller since we were kids either!” [Leonhart]

“But you’ve grown wider!” [Leodor]

“Gahahaha!” [Leonhart]

“Gahahaha!” [Leodor]

The two merrily drank, exchanged quips and laughed as they celebrated his return late at night. Leonhart had just come back from an expedition in the ruin. Unfortunately, he didn’t find any Artifact like magic swords, but then again, his goal was something else from the beginning.

“So? Was the relic still glowing weirdly?” [Leodor]

“Still is and still fickle, it didn’t react to anyone of us.” [Leonhart]

“That’s a shame. If you had beastification, then you’d be even fatter!” [Leodor]

“Hah! Then next time I’ll take you there so that you can gain some weight! You’re getting scrawny. Hell, we could take your oldest son with us. Hell, we could take everyone and go on a picnic.” [Leonhart]

“A family picnic in the ruin?! You always were the crazy one!” [Leodor]

The two knocked their glasses together with enough force that it seemed like they would shatter.

“Here’s some advice from your big brother. My wife and child passed away years ago, so I didn’t have the chance to bring them there.” [Leonhart]

Saying so with a sad smile, Leonhart then thumped his chest and grinned confidently to his little brother that was looking down.

“You should take this chance and do it. It’ll be one hell of a memory. It’s a dangerous place, but we can bring the Terdims and the Catallards with us. Of course, I’ll be there to get rid of any ruin dwellers! You can take cover behind my back!” [Leonhart]

“Hooh? Sounds like a challenge!” [Leodor]

“Gahaha! But before we talk about that, is the city doing fine? You’ve been doing your job and taking care of it?” [Leonhart]

“I think you’ve already heard of it after you came back, but things are more than fine.” [Leodor]

After sporting a more serious expression, Leodor informed his brother that Myra and Snow were found safe and sound, that their benefactors were two humans and a former Catallard and that they were staying at Myra’s house.

“Two humans and the Catallard that got disowned. Now this is quite something. And the reward the man wants…” [Leonhart]

Digesting the information, Leonhart put a hand to his chin and rubbed his beard.

“Yeah. I’ve been waiting for you to return to talk to you about it. What do you think? It’ll be the first time a human stepped foot into our ruin. Well, truthfully, I don’t really mind and want to accept his request.” [Leodor]

“He did save Myra and little Snow. Giving him a reward is a given, but this…” [Leonhart]

The older brother of the king looked up in deep thought while crossing his arms. Then, after a few seconds, he nodded and turned his gaze to Leodor again.
