Dashing fleet footed through the darkened tunnels, the man in the black robes fled without rest. Every so often a hand would shoot out of a large cloak, releasing a black fog or a magical veil, intended to slow, halt, or lose his pursuers. These pursuers seeming unphased by the spells, wafting the mist with fans of their weapons, and casually side stepping spells as they ran after the man in the black robes.
The man reached a wide space, but to his dismay, also a dead end. He reached the wall across from the only entrance, turning and panics, releasing a large burst of black and purple energy that seeped into the ground. A hoard of basic skeletons shift and break the surface of the earth, looking at the black robed man for purpose. His gaze affirming them, they turned to the entrance that their summoner dared not look away from.
The skeletons had barely taken their stance when the pursuers came crashing in, their weapons easily breaking bones like chalk, and slicing through them like butter. In no time at all every undead had been eliminated, splintered bones and fragments of marrow consumed the floor. The pursuers continued towards the black robed man, not obstructed by the bones, and swiftly swung a blade at his neck. His head tumbled from his body, not even able to utter a plea for his life.

“Remind me why we were after this small fry?”
One of the pursuers had knelt down to retrieve the head of their enemy, while the other slung the body of his shoulder.
“Hey, a quest’s a quest, we’re getting payed for this and that’s all that matters”
“Yeah well it better pay better than our last bounty”
The one with the body over his shoulder turned to face his accomplice.
“You’re still not over that?”
The accomplice holding the head stood up, his face showing clear distaste for the memory
“You used me as bait for a were-creature! Did you expect me to be fine with your ‘I’ve got this under control’?”
“Well obv- never mind that, we need to get these remains back to the town”
“Fine. But next time we have to do a hunting bounty you’re being the bait”
And with that the adventurers departed for the surface.
“Oh wait, I forgot to put a flame crystal on the remains, go sort it out”
“Why can’t you do it!?”
“Because I’m carrying the body, now go sort it out”
Grumbling, the adventurer carrying the head tossed a red crystal through the entrance of the opening, setting the bones within its radius ablaze. Jogging back to catch up with his partner.
But what they didn’t check was wither or not all the bones had been covered. Misty clouds of black and purple energy drifted from the ceiling down to the remains of the small skeleton horde.
And the bones in a shadowy corner started to shift about.
