Horse Girl
Chapter 1
"Horse girl!" "Neigh neigh!" "HORSE GIRL!" Ashley Horsewood buried her face in her pillow. Her long red hair was tangled up in a bun. She knew she should do something. But she couldn't.
She rolled over. But she could barely. The kids outside were practically shaking the house. She wished her dad was here. He would yell at them and tell them to go bully someone else. But he wasn't, sadly.
He was off on an "important mission," which Ashley believed wasn't that important. Suddenly, she heard knocking. The knocking was at the front door. Ashley slowly pulled herself out of bed and down the stairs to see who was there. What?! It was the police!
She considered her options. Did she want to hide in the house or would she take the risk of opening the door? She finally decided she would take the riskier option. I mean, if she ever wanted to "live up to her legacy" she should take more risks, right? She reached to open the door, but she never even got the chance to.
The police barged in the house and looked her over, looking relieved that she was okay. Then they looked Ashley right in the eye, and said, "You're gonna have to come with us." Then they literally picked her up and carried her out of the house.
When the kids outside saw what was going on, they started laughing their heads off. Great. Ashley "Horse Girl" Horsewood is probably getting arrested.

Now it's late afternoon. Ashley had no idea what she was doing at police headquarters. She looked around. She was in... well, she couldn't really tell. If you couldn't tell, the police are ogres. Literally. Ashley could have been in a cell, or should could have been in the comfiest room in the headquarters. Suddenly, the Chief of Police came in.
Ashley snickered. She couldn't help it. The Chief's first name was Penelope, and the Chief's last name was Papadulopus. But since it was such a long name, they called her Chief PP. She should really try to change her name.
But Ashley stopped, for Chief PP was glaring daggers at her now. Then, finally, she talked. "Horsewood, we have been lucky. You have been the talk of the town with those bullies teasin' ya." UM, what's so great about that?! Ashley thought. But she stopped thinking and started listening because The Chief kept talking.
"You might ask, LUCKY?! How have I been LUCKY?! But I said we've been lucky. The Ogre Police. You know why?" Ashley shook her head. "You see the Root Mountains up there?" She asked Ashley. Ashley nodded. They were the biggest mountains ever. "Well, there's somethin' goin' on up there. Something powerful. And its name is Abagail Hansworm. Ya father's up there helpin', but he can't do it alone. He needs help." When Chief said help he looked straight at Ashley. "Listen here, Horsewood, you've been trying to prove all you're life that you're worthy to be in this town. That you'll live up to your legacy. So, do you wanna take this chance? Take this chance to be worthy?"
Ashley considered all this. She nodded, finally, because she really did need to live up to her legacy and all that. She immediately knew it was the wrong choice when Chief smiled.
Wow. She really was a Horse Girl. A Horse Girl that was going to Root Mountains.
