Under the dimmed moonlight, a silhouette of a person can be seen creeping silently as if hiding from something.
A shadow can also be seen silently floating just slightly above this person's head.
It was Drake and the little dragon.
After sending the two women inside, he alone remained outside. Making his sister worried about him and didn't want him to go anywhere dangerous.
But he stubbornly persuaded his sister until she reluctantly let him go.
Now that Drake has all the time he needs in his hands, he can now think slowly and carefully on everything he needs to do.
Unlike how he arrives here this early morning via the entrance gate.
He abstained from doing that this time.
Drake searches for a place with less zombies that would lead him outside. And the school fence was just perfect for his objective.
Why hadn't Drake done this when he came earlier?
Well for starters, Drake didn't have enough time to think through anything.
And he also wants to see if his sister was unfortunate to become one of those crowds of zombies in his school. Luckily the thing he was afraid of the most didn't happen.
But now that he guaranteed his sister's life, he doesn't have anything to worry for now. And he can slowly think things through.
Back to the current situation, Drake finally made his way in front of a two meters tall concrete fence.
He easily climbs over the wall and jumps down, landing softly on the ground outside.
It was now nighttime, fighting a group of zombies with limited vision was extremely dangerous.
That's why Drake avoids direct confrontation to any zombies as he might attract numbers of zombies beyond that he can handle.
And his objective this time wasn't to fight and level up. It was to loot and stockpile foods and other necessary tools he might need.
Arriving outside, Drake contemplated on whether he would ride a bike to reach his destinations but immediately dismissed that thoughts away.
Near his school, there were five convenience stores that were only a distance walk.
And if he goes further from the right about a 10 minutes ride, he would arrive at the city center where the Malls and other industrial stores that wholesaling a bulk of food items are.
If he chose the road on the left, it was the place where he came from. There are also a number of local stores and also a big open market there.
And he only looted one of the many stores and still has many unfinished stores that needed to be looted. But going back there was a suicide.
Because between Drake's house and his school, the biggest university in the region was just between the two.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Drake may manage to cross over the road to the university earlier because plenty of students in the university are luring the zombies away. But he doubts that he can do it again.
After Drake made up his mind, he chose the city over crossing the dangerous University road.
Drake estimated that he might not be able to finish looting every store he knows before sunrise.
It didn't take two minutes to arrive at the first convenience store, since it was just right outside in front of their school campus.
With the help of the almighty dragon, he didn't need to worry about any heavy lifting.
Bypassing zombies on his way, he silently sneaked inside the
convenience store.
Drake saw a lone zombie cashier trap in her counter growling at him.
There was no ounce of pity on Drake's abyss-like eyes as he hacked it with his butcher knife instantly ended its misery.
With no more annoying obstacles on his way, Drake proceeds to loot every food item in the convenience store.
Since it was only a small convenience store, he didn't get much out of it.
Only packed goods and various junk foods.
He also packed the whole display fridge that contains various drinks.
As for worrying about storage space? Not really a problem.
If he remembered correctly, it was mentioned in the novel that the baby dragon has at least about a soccer field's worth of storage space.
After he was done looting his second store for the day, Drake repeated this process in every convenience store he passed by.
It takes more than an hour for Drake to arrive in the city by jogging. Where it was usually only a ten minutes ride on public transportation.
Well, if he didn't take any detour, as well as to stop by and only sprinted towards the city. He might have arrived in just between 15-20 minutes.
And since he used an alternate road, he didn't encounter a traffic of zombies. So Drake leisurely finished off every zombie he encountered.
Arriving at the city, Drake can see the glaring massive building in the distance.
But unlike the previous convenience stores he looted, buildings here are so different.
Lights were still glaringly lit up over various big buildings. As if the apocalypse had never happened.
But Drake knew it was just his imagination.
Because unlike before the system descent, he can always hear the busy street, noise from various vehicles' engines as well its beeping sound.
But now, all he could hear was a total silence. That one may have a misconception that he/she was the only one left on this planet earth, creating a despairing and creepy atmosphere.
But Drake didn't let his vigilance down. He still has his objective to finish.
Putting his hundred percent focus on completing the task ahead as he avoids killing any zombies.
Drake managed to arrive at the Supermalls, the biggest shopping mall there is in the city.
Its door was only partially open because the regular opening of every mall is around 8:30 am in the morning.
With the system descending at exactly 7:00 am this morning, the mall was still closed and only staff was here at that time. Making Drake looting sprees much easier.
Drake enters the building full of excitement.
Just how many times did Drake visualize that one day, this day would actually happen? That zombie apocalypse would happen? That he would loot every damn Supermalls to his heart's content? Drake can't count just how often he had imagined that this day would actually happen in his idle thoughts.
…
With the Mall's lighting, he can pretty much see everything here clearly.
With so much familiarity, Drake arrived at his desired location, the grocery store section.
With a wide grin on his face, he strode over on every corner while feeling everything in his touch.
Shopping malls just feel so different. Its smell and atmosphere makes his poor self nice.
With their tight finances, he and his sister need to always mind their budget when it comes to shopping.
Now that he can take it all by himself, his elation knows no bounds.
But somehow, something feels lacking. He really can't put his finger on it.
Drake didn't dwell too much into it as he looted everything that seemed useful on the shelf.
The duo stroll around and take a bite of everything they fancy— but a sudden gunshot interrupts their happy looting!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Brrrrrt!! Brrrrrt!!
This gunshot made Drake frowned.
Two types of guns have been used! This meant that it wasn't alone, it's probably a group of armed forces.
Since this is a city, it's highly unlikely to be any force other than that of police.
"Tsk! Damn, this would be troublesome."
Those bunch of pigs pretending to be self-righteous. Firing in the center of the city would only be asking for trouble!
"Actually, isn't this great? Those pigsty would divert all the mobs towards them, while I would be looting the food all over the city hehehe."
While Drake was gloating over those fools' misery, unbeknownst to him, those armed forces weren't just fighting any mobs, they were fighting something that Drake didn't think would be appearing this early on!
