We crawled out of the wreckage. Hideous, deformed, only recognizable to the people of that forsaken world as a humanoid shape, something that vaguely resembled one of their own kind. Our many sense organs would be extremely disgusting to them. If only they could see things as we do.
Our skin bubbled from the intense heat. The ragged stump of our arm left a trail of black ink blood. With the claws on our remaining hand, we dragged ourselves away from the inferno.
It was night. The only light came from the fires and the moon. The roaring flames subsided, giving way to crackly embers. We had crashed in the middle of a forest, a vast, thick forest.

Above us, through the naked branches of the slumbering trees a wild sky burned. This as the night sky was it was meant to be seen, a sky without the light of cities tainting it.
We laid there in the dirt. The burns cooled. The pain subsided.
(We need to feed,) the calm voice declared.
The charming voice reacted, [Yes, we must heal.]
{There is a camp nearby,} the twisted voice purred, {I can feel their energy, the joy and the need, the heat from the fire. There are males and females there, each in their prime.}
[Two of them are heading this way.]
(They are investigating the crash.)
[Good. Our meal is coming to us.]
