Outside the baseball stadium, the Star Cats approached an armored police hover vehicle, used to transport a swat team during an emergency. Their bodies laid around the transport like rag dolls near their weapons. They probably attacked the bug soldiers, but none of them survived. Tyger doesn’t want to know how many more people died in the city.
“We will use that transport to get out of here,” he said.
“But where will we go from here?” Jage asked.
“There is a military spaceport outside this city, in the meadow region. We will take a ship there if everything is left untouched.”
“Is it the Hanson Field Spaceport?” Red asked.
“Yes.”
“Oh, that place! I remember getting drunk there with a group of soldiers. That didn’t go well.”
Rila glared at him. “You almost got us kicked out of the port. Fortunately, Patterson was there to clean up your stupid act.”
Red rubbed his head. “I don’t remember that.”
“Let’s get in now before the invaders spot us,” Tyger ordered.
“Can I drive it this time?” Jage asked with a begging smile.
Tyger sighed. “I don’t think so, Jage.”
“Please! You drove last time! It isn’t fair!”
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
“Fine, but don’t crash the transport. Our survival depends on reaching that spaceport.”
Jage saluted with a grin. “Yes, sir!”
The jaguar kid hopped into the driver side first. Tyger took the passenger seat near Jage while the others climbed into the back.
After the doors got shut, Jage turned the engine on and felt the transport lift off the ground.
“Can you handle this thing?” Tyger asked.
Jage chuckled. “I can drive anything.”
He pushed his foot on the acceleration pedal, and the transport flew backward, crashing against a stone wall. The entire vehicle shook, and pieces of rocks landed on top.
Tyger glared at Jage.
“My bad!” Jage pulled the shift forward, and then he slowly pushed the pedal down.
The transport hovered down the clear street. It roared as Jage speeded up the transport.
“Just stay on this road,” said Tyger. “It will take us straight to the spaceport.”
“Okay. If we run into any bugs, I’ll just run them over.”
“Good option, but stay away from the spiders. This transport will not be a match against them.”
“I know. They are too big to run over, anyway. If we have a giant bug spray, that would work instead.”
“Just be careful while driving. None of us are prepared to die here.”
While driving, Jage looked through the window, glancing at the ruined city as the transport drove past the fallen buildings. “I can’t believe this city got demolished in a second. It felt like we only came here yesterday.”
“There was nothing we could do about it,” said Tyger with a sad tone. “Our primarily is to get off this planet as soon as possible. When we return to the star fleet, we will figure out what to do this. If these invaders attack another world, we will stop them. Today is an unpleasant event for us all, but we cannot give up now.”
“What if there are more survivors here? Are we going to leave them here to die?”
Tyger looked around. “It will take too long to find them. We did save that family.”
Jage nodded his head. “I’m glad we did.”
