Chapter 69 – In chains training
Adam was a bit overwhelmed with all the new information he was being bombarded with, but due to the fact that he had nothing else to do – being held captive and all, plus having 500 times as much time in this PD, Libby had very nicely set up for him.
It was the boredom that actually forced him into slapping his cheeks every few hours and forging on. As Libby could not test out any of the stuff in the books, she was left along with Echo just to monitor Adam’s progress and sift through the books available to find what to read next. She could also find things really quickly for him or try and derive the meaning of things he read in the text which were confusing – which was most things to start with.
According to what he’d read so far, which was quite a few books – to just get started, there was a specific and rare elixir that you needed to take. Also, you were required to be at least at a certain stage of cultivation.
None of this whatsoever fitted with his experience so far of mentalism – Thawain was a mentalist, for god sake, and he certainly didn’t have any of these qualifications. Was this something else altogether that he was trying to learn? Or was it that their culture approached the same thing from a different angle? Or that this was incredibly advanced mentalism that someone like Thawain or himself could only dream about?
He returned from the PD after just doing some martial training; as Libby had to admit, without the elixir made from the crimson flower, all the studying was pointless.
So he looked around the small room that they had held him in and thought about how best to obtain what he wished for.
“I know any abilities requiring shadow energy will not work. But what about space magic? You can’t tell me that won’t still work?” asked Adam, knowing he had a good point.
“Ok. I can jump you from room to room. That way, we can have a good look around.” Said Libby, quite keen to have a good look around as well.
“I will, of course, scan the vicinity and listen out for members of the order, but I don’t think we’ll have too much trouble. They seem to be very much creatures of habit,” said Libby.

Echo had been spending his time trying to figure out how he could best protect Adam after the members of that faction had almost fried him – the problem was electricity was not only fast, but the damage was wide scale and permeated deep into the body’s tissues.
He felt he could probably create something to deal with electricity better, but that obviously left – every other attack that existed. His whole plan was for his GTAs to be able to repair everything that needed fixing so fast that even sustained attacks were nullified.
The problem he realized was that the GTAs spent a lot of their time pinpointing areas of damage and coordinating. He needed a simplified, streamlined process. This caused him to think back to the most streamlined process he knew of – teleportation. That was it! If a whole life form could be reconstructed in a lot less than a second over a short distance, then he could perfect this too. Using the micro teleports, he had already created – not to transport GTAs but to restructure Adam’s body at a molecular level.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
No sense in reinventing the wheel and also the teleport, he thought to himself as he started construction.

In the room next door, there were indeed many books – pretty well; all had been scanned by Libby. It was more than the room was a total pig sty with the books in great towering piles or leftover on the ground or table. The person had been trying to sketch various things which were of little interest; what was though was the many scrolls that Libby had not as yet been able to scan due to their something – Adam wasn’t really sure, but however, they were constructed it made it a pain to scan them unless they were of course unrolled. Now he thought about it; he knew some did have magic seals, so that probably explained it a bit.
Libby, of course, got him to open every single one – this was going to take some time.
By jumping from room to room and avoiding any occupied – which wasn’t hard as there actually didn’t seem to be many members of the order – they eventually got to an apothecary of sorts and started scanning the energies and labels of everything there.
As with the books, the elixirs were placed on a real Hodge page with no sense of order – high tier mixed with low, and they were not categorized by application either – even Adam could see that with a common tier healing potion next to an O-tier (Level 43) Yin Earth Pill.
Luckily they knew what they were looking for, and hopefully, this amount of chaos would help them pinch it unnoticed for some time.
They found the flaming crimson flower Grade 3 Elixir in a pill bottle – at least, he assumed it was the right stuff; there were quite a few bottles there, so he took the whole bottle, and they headed back to his room.
Now they knew where this room was located; they would get there much quicker next time – even still, Adam was tempted to empty the whole room into a PD. Hey, couldn’t they just do that and leave fake stuff behind? But then he remembered how many times now he had underestimated his opponents only to be sourly defeated.
Back in his room, he went straight back into his PD study and took the pill, and sat in the correct position for cultivation. He knew this was slightly different from normal cultivation as you obviously needed to focus on the head region – there were nine gates that needed to be unlocked, but first, he needed to NiWan palace before he could do anything.
He had read lots and lots of warnings that this could actually kill you if things went wrong. But hey, what could go wrong?
Slumping forward with blood dripping from his eyes and ears, something clearly had gone a bit wrong.
Fortunately for Adam, he was not due to die anytime soon, as Echo had, in fact, Okayed everything beforehand.
Echo had constructed a duplicate of Adam’s spiritual shell and also the necessary blueprint for reconstructing his physical body – he was glad to see Adam had some internal bleeding as he could test out fixing that at the same time.
In the real world, the repairs to Adam’s body were unnoticeable and instantaneous – in the PD, it was somewhat slower, taking a few seconds.
Echo was pleased with the results. Adam was perfectly restored to himself in a second or so before taking the stupid pill, and none the worse for wear. It was very costly SP-wise but much less than normal teleportation – he would continue to make adjustments and efficiency savings.

Adam was sure he had felt the beginnings of a headache, and his nose had started to bleed then clearly stopped – otherwise, nothing had happened. He would try harder.
Twelve pills later, both Adam and Echo were ecstatic – Adam had finally managed to obtain his NiWan Palace, and Echo had made 31% SP efficiency savings.
And Adam could actually sense something now, it was like he was developing a sixth sense.
