Evan’s POV:
Evan opened his eyes and was startled as he wasn’t greeted with a blue sky. Rather he was greeted with an endless expanse of black. Evan swiveled his head around checking all around. It was just black emptiness. Evan tried moving his limbs. The blackness seemed to slow his movements down as he watched his arms and legs move sluggishly.
Where is this? Why am I here?
Evan started making slow swimming motions and he was propelled forward in the endless space. As he swam forwards Evan noticed a little speck of white. Evan aimed for that speck as he swam. After who knows how long he finally reached the speck. It was a door, just a simple wooden door with light all around it.
As Evan approached it the door opened bit by bit. When he finally reached the frame Evan reached out with a hand, grabbing onto the edge. He pulled himself into the doorframe. As he entered the frame, after pulling himself completely through Evan felt something pulling him and felt some force pulling him down. Evan landed flat onto the ground. As his eyes adjusted to the new environment a voice was heard.
“Teehee, glad you came”
As Evan’s eyes adjusted he saw the speaker. It was a girl around the same age as Evan’s current form with long green hair like Evans. She had a oval face with a small button nose, her large evergreen and silver eyes were glittering with amusement as she watched Evan slowly sit up. Evan recognized that voice. It was the one who said something before he blacked out.
“Where is this?”,Evan asked. The girl didn’t seem to be hostile and had a familiar aura that Evan couldn’t put his finger on.
“This?”the girl said while gesturing at the room around her. It was just a empty space about 10 feet by 20 feet and it didn’t seem to have a room. The only thing that was connected to the walls was the door that Evan came through,”Or did you mean that?”.
She was now pointing at the door where Evan came from.
“Both,”Evan replied.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
“Teehee, this is your soul of course,”the girl giggled while saying this as if Evan should have known that this was his soul.
“My soul?”Evan questioned while raising a eyebrow in disbelief.
“Of course it’s your soul”
“Impossible,”Evan said,”there’s no possibility for my soul to be that dark. Something that black would have killed me already.”
“Teehee, then how do you explain the mana that was extracted from you right before being sent here,”the girl replied.
Evan’s eyebrows furrowed as he saw the logic in the girl’s words. The amount of corrupted mana extracted from him by the hero should have absolutely killed him. Either that or the mana would have taken him over just like it did the demon lord.
“Then who are you?”,Evan asked,”And why are you in my soul?”
The girl’s cheeks puffed in anger, making her look innocent and cute.
“Hmph,”she said while turning her head to the side,”You don’t even recognize your own sister.”
“Sister?”,Evan asked in confusion,”When did mother create you?”
“She created me the same time as you,”the girl said still showing the anger of a child.
“Same time as me?”,Evan said still confused.
If she was created the same time as me then where is her body?
“She made me then forgot to create a body for me,”the girl said a bit irritated now,”so to compensate she created a contract that would switch our minds every fifty years.”
Ahhh. That would be mother, bringing a soul into existence and then forgetting to get the other half.
Evan then realized a discrepancy in the girl’s words.
“Fifty years? But it's been over one hundred years. Why did you never switch with me? Or at least speak to me?”
“Hmph”,she said while puffing her cheeks again,”You think I didn’t try? Shortly after you started your fifty years, I took a nap. It lasted about three years, but you got quite busy. The crystals and meditation you were doing kept absorbing large amounts of blackened mana. So to keep it from taking over your entire soul I created this room. I wasn’t able to switch since you just kept taking in more and more black mana and I had to fortify the walls of this place. But then when you had the hero extract your mana. I was finally able to take over control and as the contract dictates I’ll be holding control of the body for one hundred years.”
“Then I’ll be in here for one hundred years?”,Evan asked a bit glum. Not being able to use a body for one hundred years would do that to a person.
“Teehee, of course not,”the girl said giggling,”I don’t have much combat experience.”
“So you can’t fight?”,Evan questioned, relieved that he wouldn’t be stuck in this white room for one hundred years.
“Teehee, you could put it that way.”
She started walking to the door behind Evan which had turned from a black portal into a golden one. Right before entering the door she paused.
“Teehee, silly me,”She said while turning back around,”Mommy never gave me a name, can you give me one?”
Evan pondered over this question, then chose a name.
“How about Evelon? Eve to shorten it.”
Evelon seemed delighted at her new name.
“I’ll use it”
Then Evelon turned once more and hopped into the spinning gold portal.
