I sleepwalked

At 2 AM, I unexpectedly walked out of the bedroom. I have no memory of it at all. You can see from the video that I walked out with my eyes closed. I walked from the bedroom to the living room, sat on the sofa like a puppet, then picked up the remote and turned on the TV. The sound from the TV didn’t make me open my eyes; I just sat there with my eyes closed.

I watched TV like that until 4 AM. At 4 AM, I suddenly collapsed on the sofa, sprawled out as if I were asleep. It wasn’t until 5 AM that I suddenly woke up on the sofa, grabbed my phone, and ran out of the house. From start to finish, there were no muddy shoe prints in the surveillance footage.

After watching the footage, I was stunned. My legs went numb from squatting, and I didn’t move at all. I actually sleepwalked, and from start to finish, there were no muddy shoe prints.

“Is it possible that you’re under too much stress at work lately?” David swallowed and looked at me with a strange expression. But he wasn’t scared by something else; he was scared by me.

“How about I give you a week off? You can go on a trip to relax, or maybe we can go to the hospital when the sun rises.”

I grabbed my hair in frustration and said very seriously to David, “I don’t know when I started sleepwalking, but I swear I really saw muddy shoe prints, made by high heels. But I don’t understand why the surveillance didn’t capture them.”

David clearly didn’t believe me. He kept thinking that I was under too much work pressure and was hallucinating.

“How about this—why don’t I stay here with you tomorrow night? If you can see the shoe prints, then I should be able to see them too, right?”

David, as expected, is a good friend who always takes care of my emotions. I nodded and didn’t refuse. Even though I had already developed an aversion to this house, I wanted to prove that I really saw the shoe prints. Otherwise, I’d have to go to the hospital.

By the time we finished watching the surveillance, it was already daylight, so David and I left the place. After breakfast, I went to work as usual, but the whole day, I was distracted. I kept thinking, why did the muddy shoe prints disappear into thin air? And why did I suddenly start sleepwalking?

At 8 PM, David and I agreed to return to the house. We bought some snacks and beer, eating and chatting in the bedroom. We talked about a lot of things, from childhood until now.

To be honest, David is more than just a good friend; my dad and David’s dad are also good friends, so the two of us are like brothers.

“How about we both stay up tonight and see what weird things happen?” David said arrogantly. “Don’t say I don’t believe in ghosts, but even if there is a ghost, I, David, will make sure it dies again.”

But half an hour later, the alcohol took its toll, and we both fell asleep on the bed. We slept soundly, but I clearly felt that I hadn’t slept for long when, in a daze, I heard knocking again.

This time, I didn’t hesitate. I jumped up from the bed in fear and quickly woke David up. “Don’t sleep, someone’s knocking!”

David angrily climbed out of bed and cursed, “Who the hell is knocking at the door in the middle of the night? Are they crazy?”

I quickly grabbed my phone and checked the time. It was midnight again. A chill crawled up my back, and I stood there stiffly, glancing at the door.

“Fuck, could it be someone looking for Lucy again?”
