Finally, after that long walk, we have finally reached, the med-bay. This med-bay, is nothing, like its counterparts on earth. There are many tanks around, near the walls, all of them full, with humanoids and not, the green color dominates all around me and Jim. Once we enter, a doctor all dressed in green approaches us.
“Hello there boys, how can I help you?” Asks, this humanoid creature, he is almost human, if not for three sets of eyes.
“Ah, hello? We are looking, for our superior – Oneye Joseph?” I reply, to this doctor.
He smiles at us, takes out something, like a tablet and starts browsing it. It took some time, but, he finally finds, what he was looking for. The with a hand gesture he shows us, to follow him. We walk just behind him, to one of the side rooms. There, near the corner, of the room a big tank is standing, inside of it we see a man, as tall as Jim, and much, much more muscular. The doctor does something, with his tablet, and the liquid inside of the tank slowly is drained. Several minutes later, the tank is open, and from inside this giant of a man steps out. He looks at both of us, and grins, with such a sadistic and at the same time warm smile, that I feel, like fainting. But I dot.
“So you two greenhorns decided to be miners? Don't worry I will make you two into the best miners, my power allows me to. They call me Oneye Joseph, to you I am just Joseph, no more, no less understood?” He speaks to us in a low voice.
We can just nod. He grins again, with that disturbing grin, and walks past us, stopping, only near the exit.
“Hey doc, give them “C1” pilot and soldier shots, okay?” Joseph says, to the dock, who brought us here.
“Witch one, do you want as a pilot?” The doc asks understanding.
“I'll let them decide between themselves. Listen up boys, one you are done here, you report to me immediately, at the docking-bay D-11. Got it?”
“Yes sir!” We both answer. And Joseph leaves.
Once, he is gone, we both sigh in relief. Damn, that man sure has a commanding presence. Our doc clears his throat, reminding us, that he is still here and so we turn to him, one again in attention.
“So who wants to be a gunner?” He asks us while smiling, a really warm smile, nothing, that can be compared, to Josephs.
Jim turns at me and makes a pleading face, how can I say no, to a big baby? So, with a few quick nods we agree on our positions.
“I'll, be the gunner doc. If thats okay.” Jim says. The doctor, just nods and takes a small jet-injector.
He walks up, to Jim and gives him a shot, then leads him, to a nearby chair. Jim sits there for a moment, looking a little disoriented. Then it is my turn, if Jim's shot was silver, then mine can only be compared, to a mad scientists newly invented crazy candy. But I take the shot, and just as Jim have, to sit down for quite, some time. These shots kick like a bull.
The effect wears off in ten minutes, and we are good to go, the doctor gives us some directions, on where to go, since we have no idea, where this bay D-11 is. And we take our leave. On the way we get to talk a little.
“Spike, do you fell a little strange, after these shots? I feel, like I have some knowledge, about things, that I previously didn't know about... like this laser turret, and so on, what about you?” Jim asks me quite stunned.
“I know, what you are talking about, I think I know how to fly small mining ships, and even what drill crystals to use, for what ore. Damn man, this is strange, I wounder, if we can get any more knowledge like this?” I reply.

“Yeah, I am thinking about that too, would be nice, to learn more like this, not having, to spend time at some boring lectures.”
“Yeah, that really would be nice. Hey look, there's D-11.” I point my finger, at some big hangar doors, with a big white D-11 sign on it.
We enter, the hangar. It is big, really big, but that is not the thing, that catches both of our eyes, it is the back wall of the hangar, I mean, there seems, to be no wall at all, only a yellow force or laser, or hell knows what shield there. We stand there, near the entrance, with our mouths wide open, captivated, by the view. But soon we are brought back to reality, as a heavy hand lands on each of our shoulders, we slowly turn around and see Joseph standing there, grinning, with his signature grin.
“So, how do you boys like your new home? The view is nice isn't it hmm? Hehe, speechless are we? Okay, so our mole is the last one, on the left, closest, to the field, our barracks are right behind, the landing pad for the mole.”
Joseph begins, to walk towards, the mining frigate, the so called “Mole” ship, and stops near it, we stop too. Its not something, I have ever imagined, it looks like made out of a huge ball of metal, with a few smaller ones attached, to it from the side, one clear at the front and one just as big, like the clear one on the top. And this thing is hovering over, the landing pad... I shit you not, it really is hovering.
“Well boys, this will be your mole, for the next two months, until we will reach your final designation station. So, see the two clear half spheres attached at the front and at the top? The front one is, where, the pilot will sit, the upper one is for the gunner. Those two spheres at the sides, can e retracted, when your cargo is empty, to get a little more maneuverability, but we rarely do that. So boys, witch one of you is the pilot?”
“Iam sir.” I take a step forward.
“Hmm, good, good, so the other one is the gunner then? Very well, go, familiarize yourselves with the mole, ill come back in a few hours, no flying by the way.” Joseph says to us, and we just nod.
Joseph left us there, to get to know the “mole”, and so we did. You can enter it, trough, the doors, that open just below the pilots cockpit. Once you enter, there is a ladder that you use, to get to the pilots or gunner cockpit. The pilots is double the size, of the gunner, with an extra seat there, for a miner, but the pilot could also operate, the mining dill if there were only a crew of two. The third seat for now, was probably for Joseph, to observe them. They both got into theyre seats, examining the controls, every button, and every screen, neither of them felt, how Joseph came back after a few hours, and silently entered the ship.
Joseph silently approached Spike, thinking of giving the small youngster a little scare, but when he looked over his shoulder, he was surprised, the boy was looking at the moles operating system code, and optimizing it, slowly, but surely doing it, and doing it well. Joseph grinned to himself, and left the young man, to continue. Next he went to check on the big guy, he once again was surprised, but not so much this time, Jim, was reading the holo manual on the guns calibration, and slowly calibrating it, this made Joseph smile even more. He got back out of the ship, and then called the boys over, leading way into theyre rooms.
