Space and Time : Journey Through the Stars
ch 7. the City in between the Star

ch 7. the City in between the Star

slowly but surely, the Builder Bots works begin to take shape. the new parts and tech are being prepared one by one. meanwhile, Dream Scape's outer body is also already dismantled. leaving only the cockpit and main room to remain untouchable.

with nothing else to do but wait for the upgrade, Jonathan decides to take this time to entertain himself as much as he can. he opens up the Computer Table once more and begins to look for some entertainment. there are a few old games on the Computer Table, but it was too old even Jonathan lost interest in them just by seeing it.

Jonathan also found some recordings in Computer Table, but it was all about scientific material and topics that Jonathan had no idea what they were talking about. Jonathan decides to take a peek just for curiosity's sake but quickly closes the recording again as he just doesn't know what the recording is all about.

giving up on the entertainment, Jonathan began to look around the data that Dream Scape managed to collect and found a black picture with many lines on it. he asked the Dream Scape AI about this picture and it turned out it was a star chart, and this one specifically showed the path towards a space base. one that looks like it was made for people with certain wealth.

after wandering around the Computer Table, eating, and doing some random useless things, Jonathan is finally running out of activity and decides to just sleep in the cockpit. he sleeps there because the medical room, where Jonathan decides to sleep, is also dismantled by the Builder Bots.

after hours of boring days with nothing else to do and so little space to move, the upgrade is finally finished. unfortunately, the Builder Bots do not have any paint so the Dream Scape outer look is like a pile of many different colors put together in one place.

color aside, the new Dream Scape now appears to be longer than its previous form. it spans over twenty meters long with the half-back having wider space compared to the front one. the half-front side is just like it was previously, with the cockpits and computer room. meanwhile, the half-back side is now expanded to ten meters wide. it consisted of the new thrusters, weapon compartment, medical room, storage room, engine room, and a few more details that Jonathan didn't really understand.

all in all, Jonathan is happy that now he has a new spaceship. the Dream Scape is now no longer vulnerable to attack and will be able to give a decent fight when in danger. Jonathan realizes it will take a while for him to learn how to navigate his new battle gear, but at least it is there and ready to use.

jonathan also checked on the energy supply and realized that it was also upgraded. now Dream Scape has two engines that can supply it with energy. if something happens to one of them, the other can take over and fill in while the damaged one is being repaired.

with all that done, Jonathan decided that it was time to leave the Alien Spaceship and go to a new location. he managed to find a star map before and Dream Scape AI had already input the data on the star map to its internal map. What they need to do now is to leave the spaceship and go to the location.

right after the Dream Scape gets out of the Alien Spaceship, Jonathan suddenly has an idea. the spaceship is filled with dead bodies that are stranded aimlessly in the empty space. he wants to give them the minimum respect that they should have, especially since he has already ripped their spaceship out to upgrade his own.

he aimed his new weapon toward the Alien Spaceship and prepared it to shoot. he has read the description of this new weapon. it was an energy-based weapon that would melt the object it hit In an instant. based on this explanation, Jonathan make an assumption that his new weapon will shoot an energy that will heat up an object fast enough it will be melted down instantly. under the same assumption, Jonathan is trying to burn the corpses of the spaceship passengers. making a cremation as their final resting ritual.

then he begins to aim, and after he offers a little prayer to the passengers, he shoots his weapon as much as he can. he emptied out his energy storage for his weapon and successfully melted the spaceship out so badly that it no longer looked like a spaceship. Jonathan also makes sure that he hits the right spot so all the corpses inside are totally cremated, turned into a grain of dust in the space.

Jonathan once again put a silent prayer for the dead before he finally turned the Dream Scape around. using Dream Scape AI to direct the spaceship, Jonathan approved the journey before the spaceship finally sped up and flew to its next destination.

days pass by and finally, the Dream Scape is approaching a huge object that is located in the middle of two planetary systems that are locked to each other. the first one is called Alpha10 and the second one is called Alpha11.

meanwhile, the object that Dream Scape going to is named AlphaMidTown. a gigantic outer space headquarters where many intergalactic races come together and trade. in simple terms, it is a trading city. especially for the citizens of Alpha10 and Alpha11 who have a trading relation with each other.

the AlphaMidTown consists of one main single column that acts as the main business area. inside this gigantic column is all the office and business that people will need. the main column also has areas that are used by the people working there to live. the reason is because these people work in business means they are more successful and so deserve a better place to live.

around the main column a several donut-shaped floors with each specializing in a certain product. In total, five different floors focus on five different products and all of their derivatives.

then there is the sixth floor, where people will come and go. it is a place for people to land their spaceship and drop or pick up their cargo. this floor also becomes the residential area for the working class citizens, as more executives people choose to live on the main column. it provides a better living space after all, and it is close to work. this last floor is also overcrowded by people from many levels of social strata as this floor is the only one that provides services like entertainment and daily needs.

Dream Scape is currently flying into one of the free landing docks available on the sixth floor. compared to other spaceships, Jonathan's Dream Scape is considered quite small which means he can put the Dream Scape in quite a tight space without taking too much attention. Jonathan is new in this place and he doesn't know anyone. he doesn't even know how to communicate with people in this city. he is technically just pushing himself into the dark hole and decides to think about the way out later.

soon enough, Dream Scape managed to land safely in one of the landing docks. Jonathan asked the Dream Scape AI to scan the air around to make sure that he could safely leave the spaceship. the Dream Scape quickly takes a sample of the surrounding air and quickly runs a test on it. after a bit of time, Dream Scape AI confirmed that the air around is safe for humans to breathe in but advised Jonathan to maintain a low intake for a few hours to make sure there is nothing wrong with the environment.

then Jonathan tidied up his clothes a bit, which is still the same guard uniform he used back at the Dream Weaver. After he opens the exit door that pulls down into a stairs, Jonathan slowly walks down and begins to look around.

the first thing he has in his mind is only one word. Weird.

the landing dock is an open space area with many floors that allow hundreds or thousands of spaceships to land and go, and even then some long bridges are used by mega-size spaceships to attach themselves. Jonathan can say that this landing dock is humongously big. but with everything that looks big, there is supposed to be no air in this landing dock because it is an open space. turns out there is some kind of membrane that separates the empty space out there and a breathable area inside the landing dock.

then there is also gravity. Jonathan can feel his leg touching the metallic floor below. he somehow missed this sensation of standing straight as it had been a while since he stood on his own two legs.

then there are the people. alien races of many kinds and forms are walking around many places. some have more than a pair of hand, some have more than one head, and some doesn't have hands or heads. just name any random shape you can think of, Jonathan can probably find one that fits the description.

Jonathan begins to walk in a direction that most people go to and see a single alien that waits in front of a line. the peoples that Jonathan follow quickly join the line in front of that single alien while about ten other that line up at the front begin to move and continue with their business.

jonathan decides to also join with that line, just to make himself less suspicious of others. he waited in the line just for a bit before the line quickly moved up, and finally, it was Jonathan's turn to be in the first ten on the line. Jonathan almost jumped on his spot when he heard words in his mind that spoke human language.

"Hello, friend!

welcome to the AlphaMidTown. what can I help you?"
