Chapter 4
King Dennis awoke early the next morning to the sound of various loud noises outside the Bruges palace. He grew concerned when he realized that the bells were ringing, signaling an attack at the gates.
Getting out of bed, the king quickly got dressed before he rushed to the doors of his bedroom. He opened them to reveal the Captain of the Guards, as well as the other royals. Not only did the captain wield his weapon, but the other men did as well. Edmund wielded Thunder Delmoreblade and Whispermarino Phoenix. Lucas possessed Pelagiostorm and Pikelongbow. Cade had Truth and Fantasy, along with Shatter Storm. Lastly, Kristoff had Arnav Battle Axe and Barbeau Throwing Axe. The men were also armored. Edmund, Lucas, and Kristoff had their shields.
"Your Majesty! Monsters are attacking Bruges! What do we do?" the captain exclaimed.
"We must defeat the monsters and protect the residents of Bruges at once. Alert the guards and evacuate the townspeople, Captain. I will not have anyone in my kingdom suffer a horrible fate," Dennis elaborated, a serious look on his face.
"Right away, Your Majesty," the captain replied with a respectful bow before running off as fast as he could to inform the guards.
Lucas was the first of the royals to speak. "We will assist with protecting everyone in Bruges, Dennis. The last thing we need is for the monsters to take over Bruges or any other kingdom in Belgium."
"Do what you must, Lucas. While I would like to join the fight myself, I am afraid I would most likely die out there. I am at a stage in my life where my body just cannot hold up as well as it used to," Dennis explained with a remorseful look on his face.
Lucas nodded in understanding, placing a hand on the aged king's shoulder. "No matter what happens, we will ensure that nothing happens to you or anyone else. In case anything happens to us, get somewhere safe."
"I will," Dennis replied as the royals prepared to fight the monsters.
Before they could, Dennis said, "Lucas?"
"Yes?" Lucas responded, turning to face the king.
"Be careful," the king stated anxiously.
The Belgian prince nodded determinedly before he and the other royals ran down the castle corridors.
Cade hesitated. The Scottish prince did not want to leave his daughter behind. He never liked being separated from her. However, with how dangerous the monsters were, Cade was unwilling to risk anything happening to Rachel. The Scottish prince contemplated for a moment on what to do. He gazed down at his daughter in his arms.
"Daddy?" Rachel asked worriedly.
"It is alright, Rachel," Cade replied, trying to reassure her.
Dennis looked at the Scottish prince and his daughter sympathetically. "If you need someone to look after your daughter, either myself or one of the castle staff can make sure she stays safe," the king offered.
"Could you please? While I never enjoy being away from Rachel, I feel like it is too perilous out there. I cannot expose Rachel to anything that could result in something happening to her," Cade elaborated.
"I will make sure your daughter is protected," Dennis said.
"Thank you, Dennis," Cade replied gratefully.
"Of course," the king responded with a nod of approval before adding, "Cade?"
"What is it, Dennis?" the Scottish prince inquired.
"I hope everyone will be alright," Dennis stated.
"I hope so, too," Cade replied before he left his daughter in Dennis' care and ran through the castle corridors to join the fight.

Elsa, Anna, and Olivia watched anxiously from above as they saw the four men leave the castle gates. The three women also saw them run past the residents, who were being evacuated to a safer area in the kingdom.
Anna saw the look on her older sister's face and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Do you wish you could be down there fighting alongside your boyfriend?"
The Snow Queen nodded. "As tempting as it is to just run down there to assist them, Edmund does have a point about what he said earlier. He told me to use my powers only if I really needed to. The townspeople would most likely not take very kindly to seeing anything related to magic."
Anna sighed. "I feel you, Elsa. While I would like to be down there as well, I don't think I would last very long with what they'll be up against. Another thing that worries me is that Kristoff does not have the same amount of training as Edmund, Lucas, or Cade."
"I am sure Kristoff will be okay. As long as Edmund, Lucas, and Cade are down there with him, they will ensure nothing happens to Kristoff, or each other," Olivia pointed out.
"Yes. They will have each other's backs no matter what," Elsa replied with a smile. Her smile faded after a moment as she saw Edmund approaching the kingdom gates. "Still, while Edmund, Lucas, and Cade are exceptional fighters, my gut is telling me that the monsters might overwhelm them. If that happens, I will not hesitate to protect my boyfriend and everyone else. While I understand that some people will not like seeing my powers, I will do whatever it takes to ensure that nothing happens to Edmund, or anyone else."
"Hopefully they can stop the monsters before they enter Bruges," Anna stated.
"I hope so too, Anna," Olivia replied in agreement, watching Lucas nearing the city gates with concern on her face.
OoOoOoOoOoO
Edmund, Lucas, Kristoff, and Cade were in fighting positions at the entrance to the kingdom.
They saw the guards fighting numerous goblins and orcs.
While the guards were able to easily defeat the goblins and orc peons at first, they just kept coming.
Eventually, the goblins and orc peons began to turn the tide against the guards. The royals grew worried when various other types of orcs, such as orc archers, began to appear. They cringed when they saw some guards get knocked over by orc werewolves and orc wulvers appearing out of nowhere in the distance.
"The guards need help. Are you guys with me?" Lucas asked determinedly.
"I am always with you, Lucas," Edmund replied with a serious look on his face.
"Same here. We must assist the guards now," Cade added.
"Let's go," Kristoff said with determination.
OoOoOoOoOoO
Edmund, Lucas, Cade, and Kristoff charged towards the monsters to assist the guards, taking out numerous goblins and orc peons that attempted to attack them.
The English prince managed to take out an orc werewolf who was preparing to finish off one of the guards.
Helping the guard to his feet, Edmund asked, "Are you alright, sir?"
The guard nodded. "Yes. Thank you."
"Of course," Edmund replied.
Seeing that there were many more monsters to defeat, Edmund and the guard nodded to each other before resuming their attacks.
Edmund saw an orc warrior charging at him. It swung its sword at the English prince, who ducked under it before making a move to strike down the orc warrior.
The orc warrior parried the blow before using its sword to shove Edmund backwards. Edmund quickly recovered and landed on his feet, a fearless look on his face.
The orc warrior snarled at the English prince before they charged at each other. Their swords collided before Edmund was forced to roll out of the way, barely avoiding an orc wulver that had leapt at him from a distance.
Seeing both the orc warrior and orc wulver approaching him, the English prince waited patiently for them to get close enough. Once they did, Edmund knocked the orc warrior aside with his shield and landed a swift, powerful kick in the orc wulver's stomach. It staggered back for a few seconds before growling fiercely at the prince. Unfazed, Edmund charged at the orc wulver, managing to knock it down. Before the orc wulver could recover, the English prince defeated it with his sword.
Edmund turned around and saw the orc warrior preparing to attack him again. It swung its sword at the English prince, who easily blocked it before finishing it off with a powerful swing of his own sword.
Just after he defeated the orc warrior, the English prince saw a wolf running towards him. He attempted to defeat the wolf by swinging his sword at it, but the wolf dodged the attack. Capitalizing on Edmund being in a vulnerable position, the wolf leaped at him. Its front paws struck him in the chest, knocking him off-balance. Edmund was unsteady for a few seconds but managed to recover in time to knock the wolf back a few feet with his shield when it leapt at him again.
The wolf growled at him before it crouched, ready to pounce at the English prince. Edmund was ready, however. As the wolf leaped, Edmund quickly took careful aim and brought his sword down right between the eyes of the wolf. The wolf subsequently fell to the ground, dead.

Edmund noticed an orc archer in the distance with its bow and arrow preparing to shoot him. The English prince quickly sheathed his sword and got out his bow and arrow. He then fired a perfect shot that took out the orc archer before it could fire at him.
OoOoOoOoOoO
Kristoff was fighting an orc grunt. The orc grunt swung its axe at the ice harvester, who responded by blocking the blow with his shield. When Kristoff swung his axe at the orc grunt, the latter parried the blow with its axe.
The orc grunt managed to knock Kristoff to the ground. It attempted to finish off the ice harvester, but Kristoff dodged the attack.
Kristoff then knocked the orc grunt to the ground. The ice harvester raised his axe, ready to defeat the orc grunt. However, it knocked Kristoff's axe aside with its own axe. Taking advantage, the orc grunt landed a swift kick to Kristoff's chest, sending him to the ground once again.
The ice harvester tried swinging his axe at the orc grunt, but the orc grunt knocked it aside. Now without a weapon, the ice harvester backed up nervously as the orc grunt slowly approached him with a malicious look on its face. It prepared to kill Kristoff.
Before the orc grunt had a chance to decapitate the ice harvester, Cade appeared. He blocked the blow before utilizing his ninja-like moves with his dual swords to finish off the orc grunt.
The Scottish prince helped the ice harvester back to his feet.
"Are you okay, Kristoff?" Cade asked with concern.
"Yeah, thanks to you, Cade. It if weren't for you, I'd probably be dead by now," Kristoff responded. "I know now is probably not the best time to talk about this, but I asked Edmund about training me. Would you be okay with training me as well?"
Cade nodded with approval. "I would be more than happy to train you, Kristoff. For now, though, we should focus on the task at hand. We can talk about training later."
The ice harvester nodded. "Right. Thanks, Cade."
"Of course, Kristoff," Cade replied with a smile.
Kristoff smiled back.
Unfortunately, they were interrupted by several monsters approaching them. Cade and Kristoff looked ahead, noticing something coming at them rapidly. One of the monsters was a worg. Both men prepared for the attack as the worg soon leapt at the men. Kristoff and Cade swung their weapons at the worg simultaneously, but it somehow managed to dodge both weapons.
The worg landed in between the two men. It crouched and made another leap towards Cade. The Scottish prince dodged the attack with a backflip, landing on his feet.
With the worg having its attention on Cade, it did not notice Kristoff sneaking up on it. Before the worg could make another move, the ice harvester struck it down with his axe.
The worg collapsed to the ground and lay still.
Kristoff and Cade then saw four monsters charging at them: an orc archer, an orc uruk, an orc spearton, and an orc champion. The orc archer fired an arrow in their direction, but Cade knocked it aside with one of his swords. Cade sheathed his swords before he managed to defeat the orc archer with his bow and arrow. The Scottish prince then sheathed his bow and arrow and got his swords back out.
Kristoff and Cade entered fighting stances as the orc uruk, orc spearton, and orc champion approached them. The orc spearton threw its spear at the two men, who merely dodged it as the spear went harmlessly between them.
Thinking quickly, Kristoff ran over to the spear and sliced it to render it useless. The orc spearton gave the ice harvester a furious look before charging him. Kristoff was ready. He easily defeated the weaponless orc spearton before turning his attention to the slow-moving orc uruk.
The Scottish prince was fighting an orc champion. What he noticed was that while it wielded a sword like an orc warrior, the sword was much more dangerous looking in appearance, and the orc champion was more heavily armored than the orc warrior.
Cade blocked an attempt the orc champion made to slice at his waist. He shoved the monster away before he patiently waited for it to attack again. Once it did, the Scottish prince parried the blow and defeated it when he saw his chance to take it down.

Lucas dodged an attack from an orc cavalry. The Belgian prince attempted to strike it, but the orc cavalry blocked the blow. He was then forced to parry the orc cavalry's next attack with his shield.
Lucas rolled out of the way of an incoming orc werewolf. As soon as the orc werewolf landed, it turned its attention to the Belgian prince, along with the orc cavalry.
The monsters moved close enough for Lucas to attack them. He landed a powerful punch on the orc cavalry's face, hitting the monster right in between its eyes. This knocked the monster over so Lucas could focus on defeating the orc werewolf.
The orc werewolf snarled before swinging its claws at the prince. Lucas blocked the blow with his shield before slashing his saber at the monster. It staggered back for a few seconds before making another attack on the Belgian prince.
Lucas could see the orc cavalry recovering from its punch to the face. Determination took over for the Belgian prince. When the orc werewolf made another move to attack him, Lucas immediately seized his chance at taking the monster down. He swung his saber at the orc werewolf and managed to defeat it.
Before the orc cavalry could fully recover, Lucas pounced and decapitated it.

The fighting would continue for a considerable amount of time. Elsa, Anna, and Olivia watched their boyfriends, Cade, and the guards fight the monsters anxiously from the palace above. While the men were able to hold their own, the three women were nonetheless worried that the men would get overwhelmed. They knew how impressive the fighting abilities of Edmund, Lucas, and Cade were, but they also knew that even the best fighters could only do so much.
Soon the last of the goblins and orcs had been defeated. The men were able to breathe a sigh of relief.
"That was intense," Lucas remarked.
"Yes, it was. I fear that it was only the beginning. This was a sign of things to come," Edmund stated solemnly.
"Edmund speaks the truth. We must be prepared for anything that gets thrown at us. Otherwise, Bellinor will win. We cannot let him emerge victorious," Cade said.
"With how I did today, I think the training from you guys will really help me become better at defending myself," Kristoff stated before turning to Lucas, "I had already asked Edmund and Cade about getting trained by them. Could you please train me as well, Lucas? That is, if you are okay with it."
The Belgian prince nodded with a smile. "Absolutely. I would be more than happy to train you, Kristoff."
Kristoff nodded with a grateful grin. "Thank you, Lucas. I know it's going to require a lot of hard work, but I'm up for the task."
"Your willingness to put the work in has you off to a good start already. We will begin to train you as soon as possible," Lucas responded with a nod of approval.
OoOoOoOoOoO
The royals and the guards were making their way back to the castle to get some rest. Before they could, loud stomping was heard in the distance.
Everyone's hearts sank as they saw more monsters emerge from the darkness of the forest.
Orc trolls were the first monsters to appear, marching towards everyone on all fours. They were accompanied by orc ologs, werewolves, wulvers, golems, centaurs, minotaurs, reapers, and skeletons. At the back of the army of monsters were the largest of them: ogres and trolls. Ogres were enormous, but the trolls were even bigger. Therefore, the trolls were the strongest of all monsters.
The four men and the guards got back into fighting positions, ready to fight the monsters.
Werewolves and wulvers leapt at everyone from one hundred feet away. The royals and the guards were able to take them out with relative ease, but there were still a lot more monsters that needed to be defeated.
Everyone was forced to get out of the way, as orc trolls and orc ologs picked up any objects they could find, such as boulders and logs, and threw them at the men.
The four men and the guards then charged at the monsters, determined to stop them before they could take over Bruges.
Edmund dodged an attack from a golem that had grabbed a rocky spike from its back and chucked it at the English prince. The English prince then wielded his bow and arrow and fired a shot directly at the golem's head. Unfortunately, the arrow did very little damage to the golem. The lack of respect only made it angry.
Realizing that these monsters would require a lot of effort to take down, Edmund began to fire many arrows in rapid succession at the golem. Despite the exceptional accuracy of each arrow, the golem slowly made its way towards Edmund.
The English prince kept firing madly at the golem, hoping he would take it out before it got too close. Just as the golem got within a few feet of him, it finally succumbed to all the arrows that Edmund struck it with, and fell to the ground, dead.
Edmund did not have any time to celebrate his victory, as he looked to the side and saw an orc troll preparing to charge at him. He attempted to fire an arrow at the orc troll, but was forced to jump out of the way, as the orc troll charged at him with full force and a loud roar.
After several seconds, the orc troll turned around and made its way towards the English prince. Edmund began to fire arrows at the orc troll as it continued marching towards him. As he fired more arrows, the orc troll marched towards a large rock. It picked up the rock and threw it at the English prince.
Edmund narrowly avoided being hit by the rock. While he wanted to wield his sword to fight the orc troll, the English prince realized that keeping his distance was the best approach to fighting the orc troll. He only wanted to utilize his sword if he really needed to do so.
The English prince repeatedly fired more and more arrows at the orc troll, while keeping his distance from the monster. Edmund was forced to dodge another object thrown at him by the orc troll, this time a log. Defeating the orc troll took many arrows, just like the golem. Before the orc troll could get another chance to throw an object at the English prince, Edmund managed to defeat the monster.
OoOoOoOoOoO
Cade was fighting a centaur, dodging an arrow that the monster fired at him. The centaur then wielded its sword and charged at the Scottish prince. It swung the sword at Cade, who merely ducked under it before attempting to attack it with his swords. The centaur blocked the blow and sent Cade flying backwards with a forceful shove. Cade quickly recovered and landed on his feet. Glancing to the left of the centaur, he saw a reaper approaching him, wielding its scythe. He saw the sinister look on the skeleton underneath its cloak, its intentions clear.
The Scottish prince ran towards the monsters once they were next to each other, managing to strike them simultaneously while avoiding attacks from the monsters. Both monsters were knocked over for a moment but were soon back on their feet and moving towards Cade once more.
Cade wielded his bow and managed to strike the centaur with clean shots to both its head and heart. The monster fell dead, leaving only the reaper to focus on. Cade waited patiently for the reaper to be in range, wielding his swords.
Once the reaper was in range, it made a move to slice Cade with its scythe. The Scottish prince parried the blow with his swords. Their weapons were against each other for several seconds before Cade sent the reaper flying backwards with a powerful kick to its chest. With the reaper flat on its back, Cade capitalized on the monster being in a vulnerable position and managed to decapitate the reaper.
OoOoOoOoOoO
Lucas and Kristoff were fighting an orc olog and a minotaur. Both men were able to hold off the minotaur despite its aggressive nature. There were times when the men were forced to dodge objects that were thrown at them by the orc olog. While the orc olog was still a distance away from them, the Belgian prince and the ice harvester were hoping they would defeat the minotaur before they had to fight it and the orc olog at the same time.
The minotaur swung its axe at the men, and Lucas and Kristoff used their weapons to block the blow. They then shoved the weapon away from them before the Belgian prince ran towards the minotaur landing a powerful kick to its head. The minotaur staggered backwards for a little bit before it angrily growled at Lucas and charged at him. Lucas was ready, however. He swung his saber at the monster, and while it was in a defenseless position, Kristoff was able to take advantage and landed a clean swipe of his axe on the minotaur's head. The minotaur fell to the ground, dead.
With one of the monsters defeated, Lucas and Kristoff turned their attention to the orc olog. They were forced to leap out of the way, as the orc olog charged at them in full force, knocking over some small trees in the process. After several seconds, the orc olog grabbed a boulder it was stopped next to and chucked it at the Belgian prince and the ice harvester.
Lucas and Kristoff jumped out of the way as the boulder flew past them, hitting the kingdom wall behind them.
The Belgian prince wielded his longbow and began to fire arrows at the orc olog, but they did very little damage as the monster made its way towards the men. Once the orc olog was close enough, Kristoff wielded his throwing axe and landed a clean hit on the monster's head. However, it only seemed to make the orc olog even angrier as it charged at them again in full force, almost ramming right into the men.
Lucas fired more arrows at the monster once it had turned around and began approaching them again. While it took a lot of arrows, the Belgian prince was able to defeat the orc olog. It collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
OoOoOoOoOoO
Edmund, Lucas, Cade, Kristoff, and the guards did their best to defeat the monsters.
However, the men were forced to retreat, as they realized that they were hopelessly outnumbered.
Edmund, Lucas, Cade, and Kristoff narrowly avoided being clobbered by the clubs of ogres and trolls who were attempting to eliminate them. Along with the enormous, fearsome monsters were many skeletons wielding swords and shields.
From the castle balcony above, Elsa, Anna, and Olivia were watching the battle below them apprehensively. They cringed when they saw the men barely avoid getting hit by the huge clubs that ogres and trolls were swinging at them.
The Snow Queen watched fearfully when her boyfriend once again almost got struck by an ogre. Anna and Olivia also grew concerned when they saw their boyfriends, along with Cade, nearly get bashed by a troll.
"Elsa! What do we do? They are getting overwhelmed!" Olivia exclaimed anxiously.
"I know Edmund only said to use my powers if I really needed to. With how strong those monsters are, I feel like now is that time. If we just stand here and do nothing, not only will all the men die, but Bruges will fall. That will not happen," Elsa replied with determination as she prepared to run from the room the three women were in.
"Elsa?" Anna said, placing a hand on Elsa's shoulder.
"What is it, Anna?" Elsa asked.
"Please be careful," Anna cautioned.
"We do not want anything to happen to you," Olivia added worriedly.
The Ice Queen nodded determinedly as she ran out of the room as fast as she could.
