Chapter 2
"Your Majesty, we have received word that your son, Prince Lucas will be returning to Ostenda shortly. Along with Prince Lucas are Queen Elsa, Princess Anna, Sir Kristoff, Prince Edmund, Princess Olivia, Prince Cade, and Princess Rachel," the Grand Duke of Ostenda, Victor, announced.
"Thank you, Victor," King Arthur stated before he turned to his wife. "It will be good to see Edmund again. We had not seen him since he and Lucas were young boys. Over a decade has passed since we met him that fateful day. I am thrilled Lucas got to reunite with Edmund and spend time with him during the holidays."
"I have not forgotten how well they got along with each other when they first met. Edmund and Lucas were destined to form a special bond with each other. They are like brothers in everything but blood," Queen Victoria beamed.
King Arthur nodded at his wife with a smile. "They had the time of their lives. I wish we could go back to relive that magnificent week." His smile faltered as he sighed. "If only we could have reunited with Edmund under better circumstances. With the catastrophic heat wave and drought going on right now, I hope it will all come to an end sooner rather than later."
Queen Victoria nodded in agreement. "We have been through a lot in the last decade. If only we could have let Edmund know what happened after the festival. Lucas felt so bad he could not write any letters to Edmund," she explained, placing a hand on her husband's shoulder.
King Arthur shook his head with a regretful look on his face. "While I am glad Ostenda was able to fully recover from the explosion of the artillery magazine, I feel terrible about the whole thing and wish I could have done something to prevent it from ever happening. Many lives were lost," he mourned.
"It is not your fault, Arthur. No one is to blame for the incident. It happened out of nowhere. No one saw it coming," Queen Victoria replied, trying to comfort her husband.
"As much as I dread having to tell Edmund about it, I feel like it is the right thing to do. We must tell him the truth about why he never heard from us or Lucas," King Arthur stated.
"Edmund will understand. He is one of the most understanding people we have ever met," Queen Victoria praised.
"Yes, he is," King Arthur responded, grinning. "I am looking forward to seeing Edmund. When Queen Elsa invited them to Arendelle, he and Lucas were so happy to see each other again. It warmed my heart Lucas got to see his best friend again. Maybe it is a sign that things will get better soon."
Queen Victoria smiled. "Lucas told us all about it, and about his new girlfriend, Olivia. I cannot wait to meet her."
"Me neither. I am confident she is the right woman for Lucas," King Arthur replied, grinning.
OoOoOoOoOoO
The royals docked in Ostenda.
Upon walking down the gangplanks of their ships, they met at the entrance to the docks. Olivia went over to hug Lucas, and the Belgian prince returned the hug.
"Hey, Olivia. Did you have a safe voyage here?" Lucas asked.
"I did! What about you?" Olivia wondered.
Lucas nodded with a grin. "I hope you will enjoy your stay in Ostenda."
"I am looking forward to seeing it," the Swedish princess said eagerly.
The couple let go of each other before Lucas shook Edmund's hand. "Hello, Edmund. I take it you had a smooth voyage here?"
Edmund nodded. "Although I have only seen a small portion of the kingdom thus far, I am eager to see what else Ostenda has to offer. I have never been here before."
"My parents are looking forward to seeing you, as well as meeting everyone else," Lucas said with a grin.
"I am sure they are. The last time I saw them was when we first met over a decade ago," Edmund stated.
Lucas nodded with a beam. "That is a day I will never forget. It is hard to believe how much time has passed since then."
"Time flies," Edmund said, smiling.
"It sure does," Lucas replied in agreement.
As the royals walked towards the entrance to the kingdom, Edmund noticed Elsa looked a bit uneasy.
"Elsa? Are you okay?" Edmund asked.
"I am doing fine. It is just that I have not been to another kingdom outside of visiting London before the gates were closed," Elsa explained.
The English prince placed a hand on her shoulder. "Everything will be alright. I will not let anything happen to you."
The Snow Queen smiled. She appreciated how protective of her Edmund was.
OoOoOoOoOoO
Upon entering the kingdom, the royals noticed Arendelle was like Ostenda in some ways. The buildings were tidy and well-kept, and the people outside greeted them warmly.
Some differences were that Ostenda was somewhat larger than Arendelle, and the topography was flat, without any hills in sight.
Due to the extreme heat, the streets were almost completely deserted.
"I like what I see thus far. Looks like no one is outside though due to the heat," Olivia remarked.
"Yes. While it can get quite warm in the summer, I have never felt it get this hot. Ostenda is not used to the heat of this magnitude," Lucas elaborated before adding, "I am sure London and Arendelle are not used to this kind of heat either."
Anna nodded in agreement. "No, we are not. I'm not sure how much longer I can be out here."
"Do not worry, Anna. We will get to the castle shortly," Lucas assured her.
True to his word, the royals arrived at the Ostenda castle moments later. Once they reached the gate, two guards stood there waiting.
"You must be Queen Elsa, Princess Anna, Sir Kristoff, Prince Edmund, Princess Olivia, Prince Cade, and Princess Rachel," one of the guards greeted.
"Yes, they are," Lucas responded.
"Very well then. Proceed," the other guard said as the guards bowed before opening the gate to let the royals in. Once the royals were in the courtyard, the guards closed the gate behind them, making sure no one sneaked in.
The royals entered the castle, soon reaching the throne room. It was a huge, decorated hall with three thrones on the far wall. Sitting in two of them were King Arthur and Queen Victoria. They smiled when they saw the other royals enter.
King Arthur and Queen Victoria stood up as Lucas approached them.
"Welcome home, son," King Arthur greeted with a smile as Lucas hugged his parents.
"Did you have a safe voyage back?" Queen Victoria asked.
"I did," Lucas replied with a chuckle before the Ostenda royal family let go of each other.
The Belgian prince gestured for Olivia to come forward. As she did, Olivia curtsied before Lucas took her hand.
"Mother and father, I would like you to meet my girlfriend. Princess Olivia of Halmstad, Sweden," Lucas announced.
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Your Majesties," Olivia greeted.
"The pleasure is mine, dear," Queen Victoria responded with a look of approval. "You did well, Lucas. She is a beautiful young woman."
"Olivia is the most beautiful woman in the world," Lucas stated with a smile as he wrapped an arm around Olivia's waist.
"Lucas is the most wonderful man I have ever met. You have done well with how you have raised him," the Swedish princess praised.
"We tried our best," King Arthur answered modestly, touched by Olivia's words.
Edmund bowed respectfully before the Ostenda royal family, along with the other royals.
"It is good to see you again, Your Majesties. I have not forgotten when we met all those years ago," Edmund said.
"It is good to see you again, Edmund. Please do call me Arthur. No need for formalities," King Arthur replied with a chuckle.
"Okay then," Edmund responded with a grin. "This is my girlfriend, Queen Elsa, along with her sister, Princess Anna, and Sir Kristoff. They are the royal family of Arendelle," he announced before turning his attention to Cade and his daughter. "This is my friend Prince Cade and his daughter, Princess Rachel. They are the royal family of Scotland."
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance's." King Arthur greeted.
"The pleasure is mine, Your Majesty," Elsa responded.

OoOoOoOoOoO
After the royals finished greeting each other, Queen Victoria cleared her throat. "I assume you have all heard about the catastrophes that have befallen Belgium?"
Edmund nodded. "Yes. It seems you are not the only country dealing with these unusual events. One day, I noticed it was unbelievably hot in London. On the same day, I received a letter from King Joseph of Brussels. King Joseph mentioned a man named Bellinor might be causing these strange occurrences. Everyone else also received letters from him, recruiting us to assist the Belgian army in fighting Bellinor."
Queen Victoria nodded. "King Joseph also sent you this." She motioned for one of the guards to come forward.
The guard handed Edmund a book and bowed respectfully before returning to his position.
"It is a book of every monster you will face on your journey to stop Bellinor," Queen Victoria explained.
"Thank you, Your Majesty," Edmund responded with a bow.
"Of course, Edmund," Queen Victoria replied and smiled. "There is no need for formalities, Edmund. You are like a second son to us. Please call me Victoria."
"Anything for you, Victoria," Edmund replied, smiling.
OoOoOoOoOoO
The royals were now in the castle library, gathered around a table with the book.
"Well, let's see what we are up against," Cade stated as he held his daughter in his arms.
Rachel looked up at her father with worry in her eyes. "Daddy?"
Cade gave her a reassuring smile. "It is okay, Rachel. Everything is fine."
The Scottish prince then turned to Edmund. "Shall we open the book?"
Edmund nodded in agreement. "We will need to be prepared for anything."
The English prince opened the book. On the first page, he saw the description of an orc peon.
"The orc peon," Edmund read aloud. "An orc that wields daggers. They are of average speed and strength but are quite deadly in large numbers."
"It sounds like they cannot be underestimated," Lucas said.
"Yes. This is only the first monster we will face. There are still many more we need to look through," Edmund responded as he turned the page to the next monster.
"Orc archer. They are orcs specializing in archery. While not as strong as orc peons, they are faster and can take out their enemies quickly from a distance," the English prince read.
Edmund flipped the page.
"Orc grunt. While slower than orc peons or archers, they are much stronger and wield one-handed axes," Edmund continued.
"Orc uruk. These may be the slowest of the orcs, but they are by far the strongest. They wield powerful axes capable of causing a lot of damage with just one hit from them," Edmund elaborated.
"I'm thinking orc uruks will probably wield weapons similar to Arnav Battle Axe," Kristoff replied.
"You said it, Kristoff. I would not be surprised if that were the case," the English prince responded in agreement, flipping to the next page.
"Geesh, how many more types of orcs are there?" Anna wondered.
"That makes four already," Edmund replied.
"Orc werewolf. One of the more dangerous monsters. They are green, wolf-like creatures that can leap upon their enemies from up to ninety feet away," Edmund said before adding, "I heard about werewolves when I was a kid. My father and Stephen would read me stories about them. Not once did I ever imagine having to face them in real life."
"These monsters are getting more and more dangerous as we go," Olivia remarked.
"They sure are. An enemy leaping ninety feet? That is wild. With enemies like that, we must keep our guard way up and hope we see them before they see us," Edmund replied.
"Orc wulver," the English prince read, turning the page. "An even more dangerous version of orc werewolves. They are orange in color and are stronger than their green counterparts."
"Orc troll. A large, yellowish beast that is very strong. They tend to pick up random objects and throw them at their enemies," Edmund continued.
"Orc olog. They are only slightly larger than orc trolls but are much stronger and more dangerous. Usually orange and black in appearance," Edmund said.
"Orc warrior. An orc version of a warrior; they wield swords and are strong and fast," Edmund stated.
"Orc spearton. These orcs wield spears and can use them in melee combat and ranged combat. They are faster than orc warriors and have about the same amount of strength," the English prince said.
"Orc champion. While not as strong as orc uruks, they are still a formidable opponent and are slightly faster," Edmund read.
"Orc cavalry. The last of the orc types. These orcs wield sabers as their weapons. They are of both decent speed and strength," the English prince stated.
"Well, that makes twelve different orc types," Anna stated. "What's next?"
"I guess we will find out. Orcs already sound like dangerous creatures," Edmund explained.
The English prince turned the page. "Ogre. Huge and ugly, these creatures wield spiked clubs which can cause serious damage to even the sturdiest buildings. Ogres are very difficult to kill, as they can take tremendous amounts of punishment."
"Werewolf. They are even more dangerous than orc werewolves as they can leap up to one hundred feet. Unlike orc werewolves, these werewolves are grey and are stronger and faster," Edmund said.
"Wulver. While they are similar in appearance to werewolves, they are much stronger than their counterparts. They can leap up to one hundred feet and are taller than their counterparts," Edmund stated.
"Wolf. They are one of the fastest monsters. While they are not very strong, they can be dangerous as they are capable of dodging melee attacks," Edmund continued.
"Worg. Like wolves, they are very fast runners. However, they are stronger, which makes them more difficult to defeat," Edmund stated.
"Golem. A huge being made from stone with spikes on its back, which can be utilized as throwing weapons," Edmund continued.
"Goblin. They may appear weak due to their small size, but in large numbers, they can be quite deadly," Edmund stated.
"Troll. Much larger than orc trolls, these beings wield enormous clubs which can kill a man with just one swing," Edmund said.
"Centaur. These creatures possess the upper body of a human and the lower body and legs of a horse. While not the largest monster, they are among the most dangerous due to their speed and intelligence," Edmund continued.
"Minotaur. A creature with the body of both a bull and a man. They are both very aggressive and strong," Edmund stated.
"Reaper. Skeleton creatures wearing cloaks wielding scythes," Edmund said.
"Skeleton. Once great warriors, these undead creatures wield swords. While not as threatening as reapers, they are still dangerous in large numbers," Edmund finished.
The English prince closed the book. "That is all the monsters we will have to face."
"Do you really think we can face all of those monsters? What if we must face all of them at once?" the ice harvester asked worriedly.
"As long as we work together, I think we can handle anything they throw at us," the English prince responded.
"I hope you're right, Edmund," Kristoff replied.
"I hope so too, Kristoff," Edmund answered.
OoOoOoOoOoO
After the royals were done reading the book on monsters, a thought came to Edmund's mind.
"Hey, Elsa?" Edmund asked.
"What is it, Edmund?" Elsa wondered.
The English prince remained silent. This made the Snow Queen concerned. "Edmund? Are you okay?"
Edmund looked at his girlfriend with a look of worry on his face. "Do you think it would be a good idea to show King Arthur and Queen Victoria your powers?"
Elsa's eyes widened. "I am not sure if that is a good idea, Edmund. What if they freak out? I have never revealed my powers outside of Arendelle."
Edmund took her hand, trying to reassure her. "They will understand, Elsa. King Arthur and Queen Victoria are amiable rulers."
A small smile formed on the Ice Queen's face. "I hope you are right, Edmund."
"Hopefully," Edmund responded, a little worried about it himself.
OoOoOoOoOoO
"Mother? Father?" Lucas asked his parents, with the other royals standing next to him in the throne room.
"What is it, Lucas?" King Arthur wondered.
"Is everything alright?" Queen Victoria inquired.
Lucas nodded. "Everything is fine. There is something Elsa would like to show you."
"Okay. What is it?" King Arthur asked, curious as to what Elsa had to show them.
Hesitating, the Snow Queen elegantly flicked her wrist, snowflakes emerging in the air.
King Arthur and Queen Victoria's eyes widened in astonishment. They had never seen anything like that before.
"Amazing! I have never met anyone who had the power of snow and ice," King Arthur praised with a nod of approval.
"Were you born with these powers?" Queen Victoria asked.
Elsa nodded. "I can assure you I have full control over them. They will not hurt you."
"Good to know," King Arthur replied, beaming. "It sounds like you could do a lot of good things with your powers."
The Ice Queen smiled. "I try my best."
Edmund grinned at Elsa in adoration. He was thrilled to have a girlfriend as modest as he was.
The Belgian prince cleared his throat. "Mother? Father? Since we need to get to Brussels to meet with King Joseph, what would be the best way to get there?"
"There are multiple routes you can follow to get to Brussels," Queen Victoria said as she held a map of Belgium.
She opened the map and placed it on a table for the other royals to see.
"In case you need to make any stops before reaching Brussels, there are a few cities and towns on the way there. The main cities along the way are Bruges and Ghent. There are also numerous towns on the way. About halfway between here and Ghent is the town of Beernem. Southwest of Bruges is the town of Jabbeke," Queen Victoria explained.
"With how hot it is outside we will need to stop frequently to cool off and to make sure the horses have enough water to drink," Lucas stated.
Cade looked at the map, seeing if he could find any rivers or lakes near the towns on the map.
"If we can make it to Ghent, I see a lake called Lotus Lake just north of the city. Should we fail, I see Kearbalt Lake right outside of Aatler," the Scottish prince explained.
"Do you guys think we can make it that far in this heat?" Kristoff asked, concerned.
"I guess we could try, but there is the possibility the heat will slow us down. In which case, we will have to find the nearest town and rest there," Lucas responded.
"Not only must we stay hydrated, but we cannot stay out in the heat for too long. Another thing that worries me is travelling at night. It sounds like these monsters will not be affected by the heat. How do we expect to fight them when we are anything less than full strength?" Edmund wondered.
Lucas contemplated for a moment. "Then we must make sure we are as close to full strength as possible to avoid getting overwhelmed by the monsters."
Edmund nodded in agreement.
"We will see if we can get to Brussels before nightfall. Should we fail, we can stop by any town we find along the way," Lucas finalized.
"Well then, let's defeat Bellinor once and for all," Edmund said determinedly.
Once the royals exchanged their farewells, Lucas' parents made sure to wish their son and his friends only the best of luck.
"Take care of Olivia, my son. She is the perfect woman for you," King Arthur said.
Lucas nodded with a smile. "Of course, father. Olivia is the sunshine of my life."
"I hope all of you will take care out there. Please promise me you will emerge victorious," Queen Victoria stated with a hopeful smile.
"We will, Mother," Lucas assured as the royals left the castle.
OoOoOoOoOoO
The royals made their way to the stables, but the stable keeper stopped them. "I am very sorry, Your Majesties, but there are monsters outside of the castle gates. At the moment, I would suggest waiting until the area is cleared of any monsters."
Lucas looked at the sky. While there was still plenty of daylight left, the Belgian prince was worried about how long it would take for the area outside Ostenda to be safe. He hoped they could depart as soon as possible so they could reach Brussels before nightfall.
"How long will it take?" Lucas inquired.
"I cannot say for sure, Prince Lucas," the stable keeper replied apologetically. "That is something I would ask the guards at the gates about."
"Okay. Thank you, anyway," Lucas responded with a grin.
"Of course, Your Highness. I hope the monsters are defeated so you may begin your journey as soon as possible," the stable keeper replied with a respectful bow.
The royals reached the south castle gates. Upon arriving, they saw monsters through the gate charging towards them. Numerous archers were firing arrows from the walls at the enemies trying to invade the kingdom. Along with archers, there were ballistas, catapults, trebuchets, mangonels, and cannons being fired at monsters in the distance.
The royals looked at the monsters on the other side of the gate. They saw every monster the book from earlier had mentioned. Orcs were charging towards the castle gates and walls, trying to demolish them and breach the kingdom. Werewolves and wulvers soared at the walls from a distance. What the royals noticed was some of the monsters outnumbered the others. Goblins and orcs were the majority, while huge monsters such as trolls and ogres were less numerous. Still, the archers, ballistas, catapults, trebuchets, mangonels, and cannons were able to hold them off. At one point, a wulver almost managed to leap over the castle walls, which made the royals feel uneasy. Fortunately, one of the archers noticed and managed to take it down before it could enter the kingdom.
"That was close," Edmund stated.
"Yes. Thank goodness the archer was able to defeat the wulver before it could hurt anyone," Lucas replied in agreement.
The royals then saw a couple of injured trolls and ogres approaching the castle gates, preparing to bash them down. Everyone got into a fighting position, ready to fight the monsters if necessary. Before the monsters could attack, however, they succumbed to their many wounds from the number of hits they took and fell to the ground.
Another close call.
"This does not look good. Is all of Belgium going through this?" Olivia stuttered.
Lucas wrapped an arm around the Swedish princess, trying to comfort her. "I am afraid so, Olivia. These catastrophes will only persist as long as Bellinor exists. We must defeat him for all these calamities to be over."
A few moments later, the last of the enemies had been defeated. The Captain of the Guards of Ostenda approached the royals. "Prince Lucas, I would like to inform you the path is now clear for you and the rest of your group to make your way to Brussels."
"Thank you, Captain," Lucas replied gratefully.
"Of course, Your Highness," the captain bowed respectfully as the gates were opened. "I wish you only the best of luck out there."
The Belgian prince grinned before the royals made their way back to the stables. They chose only the fittest horses, for it would be a long journey to Brussels, and the heat did not help matters.
Soon the royals reached the castle gates. The guards opened the gates, and the royals then set off for Brussels.
