Chapter 51 - Seven Class

Chapter 51 - Seven Class

Two weeks later.

“Due to personal limitations, a balanced party will always have a greater chance of success compared to an individual, so all Hunters must work together as a team…” a seasoned scholar began the first class, which was a lecture hall. Since the Royal Academy is also a branch of the Hunter Academy of Galatreon, the curriculum's goal is to introduce new blood for the Hunter Association.

The lecture hall contains more than ten thousand newly enrolled students from various backgrounds, which include those who enrolled from the orthodox way, receiving special scholarships, or even the case of Mordred and his group of apprentices who got commended by certain types of people. The amount of new students might be a lot, but to a Kingdom possessing roughly a hundred billion population scattered around the main world and its lower-dimensions, this number is actually very little.

In any case, thanks to the arrangement of supporting monitors and audio speakers, everyone has no problem in listening to the professor despite the distance.

“I shan’t elaborate deeply on how things work in the Military, but there are some similarities between the Military and the Hunter Association. Your team is a microcosm, the smallest unit in the whole organization. Each hunter’s job description is split into seven specialized Roles or Class, which are: Vanguard, DPS, Defender, Medic, Specialist, Support, and Control Tower!” The professor interacted with the computer on his wrist, and the screens of the hall showed seven cards, each having pictures of people in different clothing and backgrounds.

“First, Vanguard.” The first card is now highlighted. The screen began showing a picture of a man charging ahead onto a chaotic battlefield filled with dangerous-looking beasts. “The Vanguard-class plays a pivotal role in your team, akin to the spearhead unit in the Military. They are at the forefront of engagements, charging ahead into chaotic battlefields teeming with formidable adversaries. Their primary responsibility is to lead the initial assault, drawing the attention of the enemy and creating openings for the rest of the team to exploit.”

While the screen played an introductory video of the Vanguard-class, the seasoned veteran continued. “Vanguards are characterized by their exceptional combat prowess, unwavering resolve, and ability to make crucial split-second decisions in the heat of battle. They are the first line of defense and serve as a beacon of courage for the team, ensuring the success of the mission by securing strategic advantage. Being a Vanguard meant you’ll be a high-mobility jack-of-all-trades that could respond to most situations, requiring you to not only master offensive but survival, mobility, and intel-gathering methods as well.”

He closed his brief elaboration with a video introduction of the quintessence of the Vanguard-class in this era, which is ‘Seven Spear’ Lamost Pendragon, the 4th and 5th Generation Hero. The moment he appeared on the screen, some of the apprentices who were interested in being a Vanguard had their eyes shining in anticipation, but most were taking a wait-and-see approach since there were seven classes in total.

“Second, DPS!” The screen zoomed out back to the card and highlighted the second one. Similarly, the introductory video of the DPS-class is played in the background, “DPS stands for ‘Damage Per Second’. In this context, the role given to the DPS-class focuses on maximizing the damage dealt to enemies. DPS-class are akin to the sharp blade of a finely honed weapon, they possess an extensive array of combat methods tailored for inflicting damage or destruction.”

“DPS-class Hunters are adept at exploiting vulnerabilities in the enemies’ defenses and consistently deliver powerful, precise strikes. Their contributions are crucial in whittling down the opposition’s strength, ultimately tipping down the scales in favor of your team. With their exceptional proficiency in offensive methods, the DPS-class hunters are instrumental in ensuring the success of missions by swiftly and efficiently neutralizing threats.”

There are two quintessential DPS-class Sovereigns in this era, which were ‘Darkblade Shadow’ Drogan Noura Az-Zahra and ‘Violetstorm Empress’ Murasaki Shizuku, each having their own style.

Drogan is an antimage assassin from the Land of Sand and Fire who uses assassination methods, whereas Shizuku is from the Hartina Kingdom whose combat system is highly dependent on magic machinery artifacts.

She is, after all, the first MEKA Operator in Morgen World.

Nevertheless, the DPS-class enjoys being the most popular class due to the danger present in Morgen World. Here, martial might is appreciated highly, so there are other famous Sovereigns mentioned in the introduction video, such as the ‘Armored Titan’ Reinhardt Jäger of Kaiserreich, ‘Abyssal Feeder’ Vladimirovich Stukov of the Union, and many others.

Eventually, the introduction video ended after garnering significant hype from the apprentices, and the professor had to continue the next one.

“Third, Defender!” The screen switched to the third card and then to the introduction video. “Think of them as the unyielding shield of your team. Much like a fortress wall, Defenders are dedicated to maintaining a strong and resilient defense, ensuring the safety and stability of the entire unit. Their primary duty is to absorb and mitigate damage from incoming threats, allowing the rest of the team to operate with greater freedom and focus on their respective roles.”

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

“Defenders are equipped with robust defensive methods, advanced survivability techniques, and specialized gear designed to withstand even the most formidable assault. They excel at drawing the attention of adversaries and redirecting attacks away from the more vulnerable team members, and they also play a crucial role in controlling the battlefield by strategically positioning themselves to create barriers and checkpoints that impede enemy movement. Their unwavering commitment and unbreakable resolve make Defenders the cornerstone of any successful mission. With their presence, your team can face even the most daunting challenges with confidence.”

In the Defender-class, the quintessence shown in the introduction video is the defender of the hero’s party, ‘Undying Juggernaut’ Yurnero Mise Richtofen, who is famous for being undying. As of now, he has been officially declared dead four times, with the fifth one being killed under the Great Archmage’s hand a few years ago. However, everyone doubted that he was really dead.

The nature of the class made it the second most popular in Morgen World, simply because the demand is high. Although the class does not garner as much attention as the DPS-class, it doesn’t lose by too much.

“Fourth, Medic!” The previous scenes zoomed out to the card and focused on the next and the introduction video repeated itself. “The Medic-class serves as the lifeblood of your team. Medics are skilled healers and medical experts on a battlefield, ensuring that your team members stay in optimal condition to carry out their respective duties.”

“These healers are equipped with advanced medical, potioneering, or healing methods. They excel at diagnosing injuries, treating wounds, and administering life-saving interventions. Additionally, Medics are adept at providing ongoing support through means such as buffs, status ailment removal, and some specialized Medics can even provide damage mitigation or other types of support.”

“In essence, Medics are the linchpin of your team’s survival. Their presence not only helps maintain the overall health and morale of the unit but also allows for sustained combat effectiveness. With their unwavering dedication to preserving life, Medics play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of every mission…”

The introduction video of the Medic-class reveals the best healer of the current era, ‘Bright Saint’ Anais Fulgor de Luna. She was undoubtedly the cream of the crop of her field, as she could heal rank 6 beings more efficiently than others. Still, there are also noteworthy Medics of Morgen World, but they are either elves from the northern continent or other Divine Envoys from the Sacred Alliance.

Medics are, as the professor had said, the lifeblood of not only parties but also clans. Unlike the DPS or Defender class who had the highest hype amongst the apprentices, those who choose medics are typically pacifists or those who have a sense of responsibility to their clan. After all, most clans have their own secret inheritance, and medics are the types of people who’ll be examining their clan members if something happens to them. Without grooming their own medics, it's hard to keep their secret inheritance secret.

“Fifth, Specialist! Often considered the artisan of your team, Specialists possess a unique set of skills and expertise that allow them to tackle specific challenges or provide specialized solutions in a variety of situations.” The professor continued as he changed the focus to the next card.

“Being on the opposite spectrum of the Vanguard-class, these individuals are extremely specialized in their chosen field. Be it deciphering ancient scripts, infiltration, disguise, investigation, intel collection, interrogation, torture, or even speedsters, these people excel at problem-solving and possess an extensive knowledge base in their respective domains. Specialists are often the go-to individuals when facing complex or unconventional obstacles that require a tailored approach.”

“Their contributions are invaluable in ensuring the success of missions, as they provide the necessary expertise to navigate and overcome challenges that may be beyond the scope of more generalized roles. With their keen intellect and specialized training, Specialists offer a crucial edge in achieving mission objectives.”

When the introductory video started, it revealed several notable Sovereign in Morgen World, including the quintessence of the Specialist-class, ‘Multicast’.

Specialists are, due to their nature, extremely niche. If they were taken out of their very niche, they almost instantly turned into useless baggage. However, if Specialists are used properly, they allow the team to possess a certain edge that couldn’t be replicated in other teams.

For example, Multicast has no unique rank 6 spells. Most of her spells are lower-rank non-elemental spells such as Arcane Missile. Everyone can learn it after reaching a certain point because it is the foundation of most offensive spells in the modern world. However, what makes her unique is the fact that she could not only stack the spell’s efficiency but also activate them multiple times at once, thus earning her the moniker of ‘Multicast’.

Naturally, there are other notable Sovereign of the Specialists-class that use unique methods, such as Hartina Kingdom’s ‘Thousand Transformation Ancestor’ Yamato Kuzunoha or Xin Empire’s ‘The Shining’ Li Xingke. In all, they are very powerful in their own way.

“Sixth, Support!” The professor proceeded with the lecture. “The Support-class is the backbone of your team, providing essential non-combat services that are crucial for the success of any mission. They excel in a wide range of tasks that contribute to the overall functionality and efficiency of the unit.”

“Supports may include artisans, craftsmen, corpse dismantlers, and experts in various fields such as potion-making, trap-dismantling, reconnaissance, mediator, resource procurement, beast identification, or many others. They play a vital role in preparing the team for missions, ensuring that they have the necessary equipment, supplies, and information to face any challenges. Additionally, the Support-class is instrumental in maintaining and repairing equipment, providing invaluable logistical support.”

“Their contributions may not always be as immediately apparent as those of frontline fighters, but they are no less crucial. Support-class members are the unsung heroes who ensure that your team operates smoothly, maximizing their effectiveness and increasing their chances of success. With their specialized skills and dedication to their craft, having Support members is no less crucial than having DPS to any team.”

The introduction video of the Support-class began shortly as the professor continued his explanation, but when ‘Great Archmage’ was revealed as the quintessence of the Support-class, most of the apprentices were struck with awe.
