CHAPTER 48: THE BEASTS' FLOCK ATTACK (3)
Short chapter///
.....
After the passing of few hours in the night, Neil was the first to give up to sleepiness, as he was the most exhausted among them. Losing most of the motor functions in his predominate arm forced him to train the other one. To achieve that, his daily schedule was distributed between training his left arm, and carrying out his tasks. Hence, only six hours of sleep wasn't enough for him. So he usually compensates in the night.
Reem and Etta went up to their rooms, while ramie and Lance remained sitting in the kitchen. As for the azure gazelle king, and due to his high perception of auras, he was patrolling the compound, as per Reem's order. His mission was to kill the sneaking beasts.
As for Neil, he didn't bother to abide by the 'stay up all night' rule. After all, he was sure that none of the present people would rat him out.
Sitting in the kitchen alone with Lance, Ramie could feel that Lance's aura had grown stronger.
Lv.1 Warrior
Life energy ignition: 62%
During this week, Lance managed to increase his life energy ignition percent to 62%.
As for the reason behind such progress, it was naturally Reem's summoned beast!
In this compound, there was a certain rule set by the compound leader; it stated was that whoever kills a beast gets to take its core for himself, a war spoil so to say.
This rule was extended to everyone. Even to those without magic or life energy.
As for the reason for such rule… it was to encourage everyone to do their best to grow stronger, and not depend on others for protection!
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
Unlike magicians, anyone can become a warrior if he/she absorbs life energy cores. Of course, it didn't mean that every life energy core means a new warrior to the compound. Some needs to absorb one life energy core to ignite his own life energy, while others need more than one core, or needs life energy core from a stronger beast to ignite their energy.
Anyway, this policy was the reason why they maintained the existence of a 19 warrior even despite the death of many of them.
So, since Reem's summon had a very strong perception, he was able to detect beasts in a distance. Thus, when he detects a strong beast, or a horde of beasts, he alerts Reem, which in turn, rings the bell and alarm the rest. However, when he detects a beast that he could handle, then he simply kill it and brings the core to Reem.
So, since the normal beasts were in higher numbers than magical beasts, Reem's summon brought a lot of life energy cores for her. Naturally, she gave many of them to Lance, to increase his power so that he could better protect them when they leave for the capital.
This was the reason why he reached this level.
Remembering that whoever kills a beast, get to keep his core; Ramie had a spark of an idea. Thus, he asked:"Mr. Lance, you told me in the morning that whoever kills a beast, takes it core. So, is there anyone that killed a magical beast here… I mean someone that wasn't a magician?"
Contemplating for a second, Lance answered: "Yea there are!"
Having heard the answer, Ramie's eyes lit up: "Have you thought of trading these cores, I mean the life energy cores that the azure gazelle king brings from the beast he kills? Have you thought of trading them for the magic cores from those people?"
"Of course we did. But, they flatly refused. I guess they prefer to trade among themselves, and not with us!" Lance answered with a sigh.
Hearing this answer, Ramie was disappointed, but not surprised. After all, the compound inhabitants knew that their group's departure was a matter of time. So, it made more sense for them to increase the power of fellow inhabitant, which would ultimately benefit their own chances of survival, and not some outsiders that were going to leave eventually.
Following that logic, it made sense for them to reject the exchange.
"What about the core of the buffalo beast? What does the compound leader do with it?"
The buffalo beast that the leader had hunted today was a mid tier-1 beast, which meant that its life energy core was capable of raising the life energy ignition percent of a warrior to 50%, or even raising new warrior from among the inhabitants. So, since they hunt one buffalo beast every day, it meant that there are a considerable number of these cores in the compound leader's possession.
The leader was Lv.2 warrior, this meant that only life energy cores from tier-2 beasts or higher are useful to him now. So, Ramie was rather curious as to what he was doing with the buffalo's cores.
When it came to leveling up, for both magicians and warriors, only cores on the same counterpart levels as them or of higher level can help them level up. As for cores from weaker beasts, it would usually require a large number of them to substitute the effect of cores from strong beasts.
It meant that to level up, both warriors and magicians had to acquire cores from beasts on levels equivalent to their own levels or higher, the higher the better.
In response to Ramie, Lance said: "What else, he distributes most of them among the existing warriors to increase their ignition percents. Only small number is used to awaken new warriors…. I guess, he prefers to have few strong warriors rather than a lot of weaker ones, quality over quantity so to say."
Afterward, both Ramie and Lance went silent. And the night passed by uneventfully, without any mishap.
