Hana’s expression shifted as she slowly pulled the Soul Ledger from her bag, the cover gleaming ominously under the dim light of the warehouse. “You really think you can stop me?” she said, her voice low and menacing. “This is my power. You don’t know what you’re messing with.”
Sato felt a chill run down his spine as the realization hit him. “Hana, don’t do this!” he shouted, trying to reach her. “You don’t have to go down this path.”
“Path?” she laughed, a sharp, derisive sound. “You think this is about a path? This is about survival, about taking control. You’ve all underestimated me, and now it’s time for you to pay.”
“Stop! You can’t just kill everyone who stands in your way!” Jake shouted, stepping forward, his hands raised in a placating gesture. “Hana, think about what you’re doing!”
She glanced at Jake, a twisted smile forming on her lips. “You think I care about your opinions? You’re just a pawn in my game. And now, I’m going to wipe the board clean.”
Sato’s heart raced as he noticed the way her fingers tightened around the Ledger. He had to act fast. “Hana, listen! This isn’t you. You can still walk away from this.”
But her laughter echoed off the warehouse walls, cold and humorless. “Walk away? From what? This glorious chance to finally be free of all of you? No, Sato. You’re going to witness true power.”
In that moment, Sato made a split-second decision. He couldn’t let her unleash the Ledger’s deadly potential. He reached for his gun, aiming it with trembling hands. “Hana, put it down!”
“Go ahead and shoot me,” she taunted, tilting her head defiantly. “But you know it won’t change anything.”
With adrenaline coursing through his veins, Sato fired. The sound echoed in the enclosed space, the bullet striking both of Hana’s arms. She screamed, the Ledger clattering to the ground as she staggered back, clutching her wounded limbs.
“Fuck!” she shouted, pain etched across her face. “You bastard! You shot me!”
“I had to!” Sato shouted back, his voice a mix of anger and fear. “You were about to kill us all!”
Hana glared at him, her expression a tempest of fury and disbelief. “You think this is over? You think you’ve won? You don’t know what I can still do!”

Jake rushed to Sato’s side, his eyes wide with shock. “Sato, are you okay? What did you just do?”
“I had no choice!” Sato replied, feeling the weight of the moment. “If I hadn’t acted, we would’ve been dead. We need to secure that Ledger before she can use it!”
Hana’s breathing was ragged, her gaze shifting between the Ledger on the ground and the two men before her. “You think you’ve stopped me?” she spat, her voice dripping with venom. “You’re dead wrong. This isn’t the end.”
“Get down!” Jake shouted, pushing Sato to the side as Hana, gritting her teeth, began to rise despite her injuries. “She’s still dangerous!”
“I’ll make you all pay for this!” Hana screamed, fury boiling over. “You think you can take away my power? You’ll regret this!”
“Regret?” Sato said, stepping forward, trying to keep the fear from his voice. “We’re the ones who should be angry! You’re the one who’s been killing people without a second thought!”
Her eyes blazed with defiance, and for a moment, Sato thought she might charge at them, despite her injuries. “You have no idea what you’re up against,” she hissed. “I’ll find a way. I always do.”
“Not this time,” Jake interjected, his voice steady. “You’re outnumbered, and we’re not going to let you get away with this.”
With a final surge of energy, Hana lunged toward the Soul Ledger, but Jake quickly moved to intercept her. “You’re not going anywhere!” he shouted, tackling her to the ground.
Sato watched, his heart racing, as they struggled. “We need to secure the Ledger!” he called out, moving to grab it.
Hana twisted beneath Jake, rage filling her features. “You think you can hold me down? You’re pathetic!” she snarled, trying to break free.
“Pathetic?” Jake grunted, exerting more force. “You’re the one who’s pathetic, Hana! This ends here!”
Sato finally reached the Ledger, his fingers brushing against its cover. He lifted it up, staring down at the dark, insidious power it contained. “What have you done?” he murmured to himself, understanding now the weight of their confrontation.
“You’re too late!” Hana screamed from beneath Jake. “I’ll always find a way to rise from the ashes!”
“You’re not rising from anything,” Sato said, his voice firm. “This ends now. We’re putting a stop to your madness.”
Just as Hana began to struggle against Jake, Sato felt the ground shift beneath him. The Ledger pulsed in his hand, a dark energy seeming to resonate with Hana’s fury. He could almost hear its whispers, tempting him with power, with the promise of control.
“No!” he shouted, shaking his head to clear the thoughts. “This isn’t what we want! We have to fight her with reason, not the Ledger!”
Hana’s expression twisted into a grotesque smile, even as she fought against Jake. “You think you can take it from me? It’s already part of me! You’re too weak to understand!”
“Get her under control!” Sato yelled at Jake, fear creeping into his voice. “We can’t let her near it!”
Jake grunted, applying more pressure to keep her down. “I’m trying! She’s stronger than she looks!”
Hana’s laughter echoed through the warehouse, chilling Sato to the bone. “You think you’ve won this round? I’ll be back, and I’ll bring hell with me!”
With that, Sato realized the truth: their battle was far from over. But today, at least, they had gained a small victory.
