Sons of Retribution

Author's Note

Sequels are always a tricky thing. 'Daughter of the Wind' ended in a way that left many options open. Belkai had married Davos, she was preparing to take Narandir to war, and her apparent master was dead. She was free to chart her own course. That story was one of Belkai breaking her chains and finding freedom from a slavery that she felt that she couldn't escape.

My goal in 'Sons of Retribution' was to show what could have happened if Belkai had failed. What would have become of her if Ashelath had maintained his hold over her? In many ways, Adrianna was the mirror image of Belkai. Unlike the young mage, this Palian did not shed the reins of the Arcane; indeed, she embraced them and the pleasures that they brought over many centuries of hunting. Belkai's freedom was everything that Adrianna had learned to despise. I found it quite fun writing this dark mirror of Belkai's potential future.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Will the Sons of Retribution return? Perhaps one day, though I don't believe in resurrecting characters without a good reason. For now they are at rest.

I hope you enjoyed the journey. There's more to come; the final addition to this trilogy is coming soon: 'Song of the Ascendant.'
