PART 2
Meanwhile, on the beach, the boys were sitting in the sand; Oscar and Johnny between Mike and Andrew, who hadn’t spoken to each other.
"Are you two going to keep this up for the rest of the trip?" Oscar asked, a little irritated.
"I wasn’t the one who started the fight," Andrew replied, staring off into the horizon.
"Mike?" Johnny added, but got no response as Mike played with the sand. Then they heard Emily’s voice behind them.
"We’ve brought fireworks! Who’s up for it?"
A few minutes later, Oscar and Johnny were enjoying the fireworks with Emily and Diana, while Andrew and Mike, who hadn’t moved from their spot, watched their friends from a distance.
"I don’t intend to come between you and Diana. But if you keep treating her like this, I won’t step aside. I’ve only given you one chance; if you lose it or throw it away, as you’re doing now, I won’t hesitate to get between the two of you," Andrew said, still not looking at Mike.
"Do whatever you want," Mike replied, staring at Diana.
"I know you’re only saying that because you’re angry right now, but you’ll regret it."

"I don’t think so."
"Alright. Then I have your permission to do as I please."
Diana, who had been glancing at the two boys from the corner of her eye, pulled the bracelet she had made for Mike out of her pocket, one she hadn’t been able to give him because he’d been avoiding her. With what little courage she had left, she walked over to him, but once again, seeing her coming towards them, Mike got up from the sand and went over to join Oscar and Johnny.
"Want to set off some fireworks with me?" After a deep sigh at Mike’s reaction, Diana asked Andrew, who remained seated.
Side by side, each holding a sparkler that lit them up in the darkness.
"I’m really happy I found you again, Andrew," Diana said, gazing at the lights.
"Me too."
"Andrew..."
"Yeah?"
"Are you really gay? Are you and Mike dating?"
"No," Andrew answered, looking directly into her eyes, to her surprise. "It was just a whim of a rich kid who didn’t know how to tell his ex that he was alone…"
Several seconds of silence passed between them. Seconds in which Andrew tried, with all his might, to understand his own feelings. To understand the truth of what he felt for her. For the person sitting to his right who, after all the years that had passed, was still the same little girl he had once fallen in love with.
"But this isn’t a whim..." Andrew continued.
"What isn’t?" Diana asked, turning to look at him.
As she turned towards him, Andrew slowly but steadily leaned in and kissed her lips, deeply and delicately.

Oscar let out a muffled gasp when he saw them. Johnny, along with Emily, stared at their friends in surprise, and Mike... most of all Mike, kept his cool—a calm that was well-rehearsed, if not for the fact that his fists were clenched in fury.
