Morning. Zohaib woke up and walked towards the window, and removed the curtains. There is light rain outside with a cold breeze. Its a pleasant weather outside.
He went straight to the bathroom, took a shower, brushed his teeth and flossed as well. He was a little nervous and yet a little excited. It wasn't the job of his liking but at the same time, he was kind of excited because of such a huge shift and change in his line of work. He went from just sitting on his desk looking at his computer, to now possibly catching criminals and filing cases. This huge change excited him a little.
But more than that, now he has a goal. He wants to make the world a better place, not something he was concerned with before because he didn't have to worry about it prior to this, because it wasn't his job to do so. It wasn't his job to take care of the public in the situation of corruption and mayhem throughout the country.
However, now it's about to become his job, his duty.
He wore his uniform and walked out of his apartment. Sighed, lowering his head. Then walking towards the bus stop.
He waited for his bus patiently, but the bus didn't arrived for some reason. This is odd, I didn't even overslept today and I'm right on time, he thought to himself. Then he glanced around on the road, there weren't any taxis as well.
"Well, I guess I'm gonna need to walk to the police station", he mumbled to himself and started to walk. It was a long way, so he put on earphones and listened to music as he walked.
After some time, the light rain stopped pouring, leaving his uniform mildly wet. The clouds were like small pieces of cotton floating around in the sky. The sun, shining lightly and then it would hide behind the clouds, and then shine again. Like a shy girl looking at her crush, and when he looked back at her she would turn her face away.
Zohaib, walking, along with the vibe of the music, in a moment, as if in a blink of an eye, reached the police station.
He showed the guards his letter off approval and upon inspection the guards let him in.
This police station was in the center of the Capital City. That was the reason that it was heavily guarded, because there were many important personalities that work here. Most of the important decision made by the higher ups for the police department and strategies are made and then transmitted from this station.
He is guided to the hall where the recruits were told to wait for the arrival of the Chief of police. There were some senior officers there accompanying them, and some of the recruits were chatting with them.
They're probably family members I believe, Zohaib thought to himself while sliding his hairs backwards with his hands.
After sometime, he realized that there were some recruits missing. The one that was on his mind was the Josif.
And just as he realized it, Bang, someone opened the door aggressively, "I'M TERRIBLY SORRY FOR BEING LATE.".
Yeah, you guessed it, it's Josif Jonathan.
"There's no need to be this loud in the morning just go and stand along the rest of the recruits", one of the seniors told him.
He immediately realized Zohaib and rushed towards him. "Yo, how's it going?", he greeted, "I'm good", Zohaib replied and immediately walked away thinking, I don't have the energy at the moment.

"Whatever!", said Josif, as he pulled out his smartphone from his right pocket, looking at some of the recent incidents in the country.
After an hour, the Chief arrived and address the recruits, starting with;
"ALRIGHT YOU SONS OF BITCHES, and ladies", said ladies softly, "Ahem", clearing his throat and then continued to address, "I'll be open and transparent with you guys over here. The main reason that we recruited you lot without any sort of tests of your abilities is because right now the police departments are short on staff members, I believe you've realized how much our reputation is worsened over the years, that even if we wanted to recruit young men and women for the job they don't even care to apply for it. The fact that there are only 40 recruits says all about us."
The Chief took five second break and looked at the recruits, and then continued;
"We need officers in order to have our presence on the streets of this country. We'll have three members in a single squad and we'll be sending you to various police departments around the country, where you'll perform your usual patrol duty. Alongside you'll be taught martial arts and studies that are required."
He stopped again for five seconds, and took a walk to the left wall of the hall, without breaking eye contact with the recruit, and then returned to his position, and this time with a faint smile, he said, "Those of you who are exceptional will be promoted to higher ranks, and those who are not will remain doing there patrol duty."
The smile on the Chiefs face faded, and after taking a deep breath, he continued, "In about an hour you'll be notified of your squad and the police department where you'll be on duty. UNDERSTOOD?"
"UNDERSTOOD. SIR", every recruit exclaimed in unison.
After an hour, each of the recruits were notified of their police stations and there squad members.
"Well, what are the odds, I guess I'm paired with Josif Jonathan and... Shamil Jaziz", Zohaib said to himself.
He walked towards them, "Huh! So you're with us.", Josif said showing his annoyance with Zohaib for what happened earlier. Zohaib quickly apologized for his action, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you in any way, I was just not in the mood to talk with anyone at that moment."
"There is no point in being annoyed anymore, we're a team from now on, So apology accepted.", Josif said with his arms crossed, and then looking at the person standing right beside him, "Introduce yourself, muscle-head.", the man beside him sighed, and said, "I'm Shamil Jaziz, and you are?"
Zohaib replied, "I'm Zohaib, nice to meet you."
"I guess we're assigned in the worst city of them all", said Josif.
"Yeah", Shamil replied, followed by Zohaib looking at the notice, since he didn't look at the city that they were assigned to, his eyes widened, and he said with a exhausted and calm voice, "Huh, South City eh."
"Well then, let's get going", said Josif. "Nobody chose you to be the leader.", Shamil said in a dissatisfied tone. "What was that?", Josif annoyed but with an ear to ear smile on his face inquired.
"Alright, no need to fight. Either way, who tells you what to do, we all need to do the same thing, since we're a team. So let's not fight over stupid stuff, and leave for the South City.", Zohaib stood in between both of them and said in a calm and soft voice, trying not to offend them.
"Okay, okay, we weren't fighting or anything.", Josif said.
"Whatever, let's go then", Shamil said, agreeing with Zohaib with a nod.
They went to the bus stop, got up on the bus, that was on its way to the train station.
The clouds had disappeared, and the sun was shining brightly, it was afternoon. Due to the rain the dust had settled down, and Zohaib, Josif, and Shamil could see the sky clearly with it's color in full display. Birds flying from tree to tree, and chirping and singing songs praising god.
They reached the train station and they didn't need to book for a seat because the police officers that were newly recruited were provided with a pass that they can just show the ticket inspector and that's it.
Hence now they were on their way to the South City. The city known for it's gangs doing illegal activities, and prostitute institutions where from a very young age girls were sold there by their parents and wives by their husbands, due to poverty, and trained to become prostitutes for the pleasure of the gang members and the elites that had sided with these local gangs.
Not because they wished to, but because they have to. One main reason was of-course poverty, the other main reason was the gang members were continuously harassing the local population, by murdering them, and raping their women. This was the only way through which they can make the elite and the gangs happy, by giving up their honor and self respect just so that they leave them alone and get paid for it.
Two days have passed, since Zohaib's squad had left for South City.
It's Morning and the squad has now arrived to their destination, the South City.
