Flamel was starting to stranslate the book, when suddenly he revived terrible news.
Nevernum was attacked.
He went and said he was leaving, he packed his things and moved hastily, because maybe his aunt was still alive, maybe he wasn't alone again...
She is gone, she was one of the many fatalities of the attack, It happened to him again, his last family killed in an attack from the war between Aimon and Lashray.
Flamel falls to his knees, with tears falling down his face.
Buta wonders, 'why the war? Why so much senseless pain? But why, why is this war happening, why is my family dying around ME, wHy, WhY...'
Name cries and cries the night away, but the grief doesn't leave, he tries to look around for a clue about why this war is happening, and all he gets are some unsubstanciated rumors and even outriggt lies, he isn't important enough to even know why.
Name plunges himself in translating the book to at least try and distract his tired mind from everything.
After he translates It what he discovers is something strange, the book's name is 'a Librarian's legacy by Lenore Lavinski' and It is the autobiography and some strange notes of esoteric knowledge, from someone who claims to have come from far, far way, they claim to be for a land without Magic.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
The biography about their life is intriguing and strange but by far the most interessing part is the notes, that speak about something called the scientific method, a way to try and understand everything using some often timessimple steps.
Unsure of the claims, Flamel tries to increase medium healing potions yield using this method and unsurprisingly, fails but Flamel knows what went wrong, and tries again and ends up failing again and again, but every time he fails he knows even more, and after trying one final time Flamel succeds.
Flamel is happy that he succeded, until his thoughts return to why did he throw himself into that, and just now he realizes that he finished translating and reading the book.
He tries to find something, anything to do to escape his own mind, and he finds it, 'my work' he thinks, maybe he could try and escape his own memories and pain in the endless repetition of experimentation and not quite effortless work.
