Chapter 4

While I was staring at the thing, the air was rapidly getting thicker. Not that it was hard to breathe, it felt like it was trying to push me down.

Suddenly It looked up and started scanning the area. Blood was dripping from his mouth.

Then I felt it. The immense pressure coming from its direction, I almost tripped.

Its head quickly turned to me.

My body moved on its own. I began to run as fast as I could, not looking back. I was terrified.

I heard the beast following me. I zigzagged through the tall trees, hoping to shake it off. He just followed slowly. He clearly enjoyed hunting something weaker than him.

I saw a really big hollow tree trunk in the distance.

I'm saved!

I sprinted the last meter and slided my way into safety.

I looked back to see if the beast was still there. Only to look directly into its big reddish eyes.

My heart skipped a beat. I just know I'm gonna die.

Why am I only now scared? Why didn’t I feel anything the first time?

Then it struck me. The system. Because of it, I could now truly experience this world. Hope it can help me!

I quickly opened my status to find something that could help me.

Looks like the beast noticed i was doing something, because it began to slowly walk towards me. My eyes looked at every letter, every pixel, hoping to find something that could help me.

It readied itself for a final lunge.

Suddenly a blackish wolf jumped out of a nearby bush, biting the beast in the process.

Although he was thrown off guard, the beast had no problem shaking the wolf off on the ground.

But the wolf didn't back down, and let out the most terrifying roar you will ever hear in your entire life.

The beast hesitated for a split second, but finally ran away.

I thought I was safe, but the wolf looked at me in a way that only a predator could.

I prepared myself for what was to come, but he collapsed to the ground.

For a minute I was wondering about my sanity. The wolf just lay there, not moving an inch. It looked like its fur was drooling.

I mustered up the courage to stand up and inspect the body. The goo was now a big puddle around the… carcass? The wolf just disintegrated, only bones remained!

“That's strange.”

Suddenly the goo shot up in the air, forming a little blob with eyes. I squatted down to look at it better. It was kinda cute.

Skill gained : inspect

I was jumpscared by the blue screen, not noticing that the blob began to move.

When I swiped the screen away, my vision was distorted by black.

The goo quickly covered my face.
