Book Two: Chapter 4

Lucy kicked the possessed cat to the floor. Before he got up, Byron slammed an open barrel down open him, trapping him inside.

"I got him!" The shark shouted.

The barrel rumbled as he held it down. Lucy jumped onto the barrel to help him keep Boogaloo trapped.

“Hold him!” she shouted.

Byron gritted his shark teeth. “I’m trying!”

“How can you be trying? I thought your strength increases when you transform!”

Byron’s muscles bulged. “It does, but this cat is-”

The barrel exploded, slamming Byron and Lucy against the wall.

Byron HP: 80/100

Lucy HP: 180/190

After they landed on the floor together, the possessed Walton hovered above them.

“Yuh cyaa contain me!” The spirit shouted. “Mi stronga dan both of you!”

That would make sense. Chief Boogaloo’s level was twenty, higher than Lucy's and Byron’s level. Although Lucy’s level was close to Boogaloo’s level, the spirit remained stronger.

Lucy jumped to her bare feet and pointed her cutlass at the dungeon boss. “You can’t fight us forever!”

Boogaloo laughed. He held up his paws. Two flame balls ignited on them. “Dat wah mek mi wi finish yuh quickly!”

“You will burn this ship if you attack us with fire!” Byron warned after he got up.

“Mi a spirit. Eff mi bun dis ship, mi bun dis ship. Yuh nah survive but mi wi!”

“I thought you want to take over this ship?” Lucy asked. “Without this ship, you cannot sail anywhere!”

Boogaloo shrugged. “Mi cya fly aniweh mi wa, now dat mi free. Yuh wi all be sorry fi making a fool outta mi inna mi cave!”

He raised his arms, preparing to throw his attacks. Without warning, Byron blasted water from his mouth, splashing into Boogaloo’s face. His attack shot Boogaloo into the ceiling, and then the cat landed on his face, unconscious.

Lucy ran toward the cat’s body and touched his neck. He still breathed.

Of course, if he was dead, the notification would announce his defeat. Lucy glanced at the wereshark. “How did you do that?”

Byron shrugged. “Magic. We weresharks can blast water from our throats. Don’t ask how we can grow water inside our bellies.”

Lucy giggled. “I won’t.”

Running feet reached them from the shadows. Tashina appeared, carrying a coconut.

“Mi back!” She stared at the body. “Him dead already?”

“No, Byron only knocked him out with a water attack,” Lucy explained. “Your crazy grandfather was about to burn the entire ship down.”

“What’s with that coconut?” The wereshark asked.

Tashina held it up. “Dis a all mi cya find tuh trap mi grandfather's spirit. Betta dan nuttin.”

“Then you better prepare the ritual before he wakes up.”

Tashina nodded.

On the main deck, the pirates tied Walton to a chair. Although Lucy tightened the ropes as best as she could, Boogaloo could still break loose if he woke up. The voodoo hyena priestess must work her magic quickly.

Tashina placed the coconut down and danced around it on her toes. Her arms waved like snakes and her rear swung from side to side. If there was music, Tashina’s performance wouldn’t look odd.

After a few minutes, the coconut shook as a green spectate glimmered around. Walton’s chair levitated too as the same green glow engulfed him.

Soon, Boogaloo’s spirit form drifted from Walton’s mouth like smoke and flew into the floating coconut. Tashina stopped and gave off a sigh. “It dun.”

Boss fight completed! Your crewmate defeated Chief Boogaloo.

You received 20,000 EXP!

You leveled up!

One proficiency point received!

Lucy’s HP recovered after she received her notification. Before she spends her proficiency points, she must check Walton.

The chair slowly landed on the deck floor. Lucy and the others stood close to the cat.

He wrinkled his eyes until he slowly opened them.

Lucy smiled at him. "Hey, Walton."

The cat widened his eyes. "Arrrrr shiver me timbers!"
