Book One: Chapter 20

Chief Boogaloo Level: 20 Race: Undead HP:200 Dungeon boss

The hyena ghost streamed around the pillars, laughing like crazy. Like excited children who finally met new friends.

"Mi ave been waiting fi new victims tuh enta mi chamba fi too long!" He stopped and faced Lucy. "Dem deh oddah intrudas a joke. Dem couldn't kill mek it one step inna mi chamba. Boo-who! Boo-who! Eff yuh wa fi get mi treasure yuh muss beat mi first!"

Ivy aimed her musket at the ghost. "You will pay for killing my captain and crewmates! We will send your soul straight to the Undersea!"

The ghost laughed. "Den cum wi mek dis battle interesting! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Boss fight alert! Defeat Chief Boogaloo to get the treasure. There is no escape!

Lucy raised her cutlass and charged. "I can fight him!"

The ghost dodged her strike and grinned his white fangs at her. "Suh yuh di cursed one mi whispa tuh. Let mi borrow yuh body!"

Lucy thrust her blade toward him, but he disappeared. She swung around in case he appeared behind her. Nothing.

Suddenly, two ghostly arms wrapped around her body.

"Get you!" The ghost's voice exclaimed.

White mist flowed into Lucy's mouth with a musty cold taste. She covered her mouth, but the rest of the mist entered her nostrils and floppy ears.

After it completely entered her body, Lucy dropped to her knees, feeling her entire body freezing. Her heart stopped and her brain turned to ice.

Curse lifted, but you are now possessed!

Before Lucy could say something, she dropped to the ground, blacking out.

"Lucy!" Charles rushed toward her body and held her up in his arms. "Wake up!"

Her eyes opened, but they were green as glowing emeralds. She glanced up at him and smiled. But it wasn't a friendly smile. More like a sinister grin with big sharp teeth. The same grin belonging to Boogaloo!

"Hello!" Lucy rolled off Charles's lap and swung a kick into his face.

Smack!

Charles HP:145/150

The wolf hit the ground, feeling his jaw a bit disjointed. But he pushed it into place and got up. "What's wrong with you, lass?"

Lucy jumped onto her feet and laughed with her hands on her hips. "Fool! Mi Chief Boogaloo! Di girl's bady now belongs tuh me! HAHAHAHAHA!!!"

"Oh no!" Ivy gasped.

Lucy/Boogaloo stared at Lucy’s chest and squeezed her breasts. "Ouuuuuuu! Mi like dis bady already!" He glanced at Lucy’s rear next and shook it. "Mi should stay inna dis bady forever!"

Charles couldn’t believe the spirit entered Lucy’s body and took over her mind. Boogaloo still sounded like Lucy with his accent in a feminine tone.

Tashina pointed her claw at Boogaloo. "Get outta har bady, grandfather!"

Everyone paused and gazed at the witch.

"Grandfather!?" Charles and Ivy shouted together.

Boogaloo even widened his bright green eyes. "Yuh seh grandfather? Me?"

Tashina placed her hand on her chest. "It chuu mi yuh granddaughta, Tashina. Mi mada escape before yuh cud trap har wid di othas. Mi fada neva mek it but mi mada raise mi tuh become dan you! Mi wi end yuh horra tuh avenge mi tribe!”

Charles scratched the back of his head, feeling very puzzled about the new details from the voodoo witch doctor. “Soooooo, he is actually your grandfather?”

Tashina smiled at him. “Yea, handsome.”

“Then why you said he was your ancestor?” Ivy shouted with frustration in her tone of voice.

Tashina giggled. “Mi lied sort of him a ancesta tuh mi.” She redirected her glance back to Boogaloo with a sharp glare. “But him evil as a dutty outhouse!”

Boogaloo shrugged. “Granddaughta or nuh mi wi still kill yuh all! Nobody escapes from mi caverns! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!”

Tashina placed her hands on her hips and smiled a catty grin. “Oh yuh tink yuh cleva inna dat girl's body? Ow bout wi settle dis inna dance-off.”

Boogaloo raised an eyebrow. “A dance-off?”

“Yuh should kno dancing fi wi culture, old fool. Whoeva cya dance betta as a gyal wins.” Tashina pointed her claw at her grandfather. “ Eff mi win mi wi trap yuh soul inna one of dem deh skulls pan di pillars. But eff yuh win yuh cya ave fi wi souls an kip di girl's bady. Deal?”

Boogaloo laughed, so loud it rattled through Charles’s bones. “Yuh dare call mi a old fool? mi a masta of dancing! Yuh on!”

Charles approached her. “What are you doing?”

Tashina pulled out a dagger. “Truss mi. It di ongle way tuh save yuh bredren widout fighting har. Mi kno mi grandfather's weakness him too overconfident.”

“I hope you know what you are doing,” Ivy whispered. “I am still too young to die.”

Tashina snickered. “Mi kno mi grandfather's weakness him too overconfident.”

The witch approached her grandfather and held out her palm. “Tuh begin him muss mek a blood oath.”

Boogaloo rolled his eyes. “Mi kno dat wretch!”

Tashina cut her hand with the dagger and held it out. No blood dripped from her palm, but a red line mark glowed red on it. “Wi dance tuh si who betta. Di losa loses fi him or har soul.”

Boogaloo took the dagger and cut Lucy’s left hand, marking her palm. “Mi accept! Heeheehee.”

After they shook their marked hands, enormous mists formed around the pillars, glowing blue with unnatural lights. From the mists, tribal hyena ghosts levitated out and gathered around the two challengers. Men and women, wearing little clothing and white glowing eyes over their wide grins. One of them appeared between Charles and Ivy, giving them room although their ghostly bodies shivered Charles.

Except for the living, the dead chuckled and cheered like banshees, excited to watch the show. From the audience, a fat hyena wearing a skull mask and loincloths hovered forward and held up his large hands. “Chief Boogaloo an Tashina had challenge each oddah tuh a dance duel! Mi ago bi dem judge. Losa wi ave dem soul trap inna di pillars of di dead! May di powa of voodoo decide dem fates!”

Charles crossed his arms, biting his lower lip. I hope the witch can win this….. For our sake.

Tashina faced her grandfather while tying her skirt up so her long legs could stretch out. Boogaloo wrapped Lucy’s white skirt around her waist.

“Ready, wretch?” Boogaloo asked, keeping his grin sharp.

Tashina has danced throughout her life since her mother taught her to perform the rituals. Dancing has become one of her specialties to unleash her spells for different purposes. She doesn’t know how good her grandfather could dance, but she has to try to dance better than him.

On both sides, four ghosts pulled out drums and sat down, placing the spectacle instruments between their crossed legs. They cracked their hands and pounded their palms on the drum tops, playing tribal beats in loud rhythms.

The music rocked through Tashina’s body, making her feel more alive than the dead. With it, her confidence kept her spirits up although the outcome was unknown to her. Her mother had always told her that facing death was better than running from it. Only cowards lose the match.

“Mi wi guh first!” Boogaloo stepped forward and spread out Lucy’s legs.

With a giggle, he rocked her hips around while waving her arms like serpents. She hopped onto one hand and whirled her legs above her like a ship's wheel spinning. The crowd whistled and clapped their hands.

Tashina was impressed her grandfather could dance well. Although the male ghosts cheering for Boogaloo felt kind of weird. Did they know an old man was moving Lucy's body?

What he performed was the dancing snake maiden with twirling legs. Creative move, but Tashina could come up with something better.

Boogaloo stopped and stepped back. "Yuh tun."

Tashina took the center and moved her heels up and down. On her toes, she hopped around the dance space, keeping her legs sprinting up and down.

The Hot Floor dance. Basically, you pretend you were dancing on the hot floor, burning your feet. It was the first rhythm Tashina learned from her mother.

She backflipped and landed on her hands, keeping her legs up. Then she hopped around while touching the ground, reversing her performance.

After she finished, she stepped with her arms crossed. Blood was rushing through her skull. Good thing she finished that move. At least it impressed the ghosts with wow looks on their blue faces.

Boogaloo snarled at her. "Yuh stole dat move from me!"

Tashina shook her finger at her. "Nope nope nope. Mi mada teach mi dat. Shi did yuh dawta."

Boogaloo shrugged like he still didn't believe his own granddaughter. "Whateva. Mi turn!"

Possessed Lucy stepped forward and laid down. With her arms hugging herself, she rolled around in circles.

The Rolling Corpse move; pretending you are a dead body rolling down a hill. A painful move if you roll across rocks.

Boogaloo rolled faster and faster before jumping off the ground and landing with Lucy’s legs splitting on the ground. The ghosts hollowed into a cheer.

Tashina could try something better than that. She will choose a move only she knew.

After her grandfather stepped back, Tashina approached the dance space, grinning. "Mi bet yuh cyaa duh dis."

Boogaloo crossed Lucy’s arms. "Show wi!"

The hyena witch cracked her neck and held up her arms. She led back, slowly falling backward. But she touched the ground and backflipped while moving backward in circles.

The Fire Wheel move, requiring the dancer to backflip like a wheel, moving fast. Only highly flexible dancers could do that.

Tashina landed on her bare feet and stuck her finger at her grandfather. "Ha! tek dat bady snatcher!"

The ghosts clapped their hands. This time they clapped louder for Tashina's successful move.

Boogaloo laughed. "Let mi show yuh mi ultimate move!" He stepped forward, tightening Lucy’s skirt up. "Eff yuh cyaa best dis, yuh wi lose wretch. Ongle mi cya masta dis move!"

Tashina frowned. She doesn't know all her grandfather's dance moves or even learned them. Her mother may have known them, but what she taught Tashina she never mentioned if the moves belonged to her grandfather. The Hot Floor was one of them since Boogaloo recognized it. But never in her life, Tashina thought she would enter a dance-off against her grandfather. A dark, insane voodoo sorcerer with whom she regretted sharing his blood. All she could do was watch and see if she could beat him. And losing to him wasn't an option.

Lucy’s head touched the ground while lifting her legs up. While splitting, Boogaloo twirled her body, spinning on her head. But that wasn’t all.

While whirling, he pushed one finger on the ground, pushing Lucy up as he spun on one finger. Everyone gasped, watching the possessed body whirled by one finger like a top.

The One Finger Stance? Tashina heard about that move, but nobody among her kind completed that move in years. They knew it to be the hardest move on Blackmare Island. Not one hyena tribesman performed a successful one finger without breaking his finger or falling off balance.

Indeed, a dancer had successfully performed that move who invented it. Nobody knows how he did it, but they have passed the move knowledge for generations, no matter how many brave dancers tried it.

How could her grandfather perform the impossible move so perfectly? Did he practice for a long time, or being a ghost gave him the advantage?

Boogaloo stopped and jumped to Lucy’s feet with her arms out.

The ghosts cheered all over the place, rocking the entire chamber. To them, it was a miracle, but to Tashina, it was a clear death sentence.

"Tank you! Tank you!" Boogaloo waved to the ghosts, smiling all over them.

Surely, possessing Lucy's body had given him the advantage to dance better than his previous life. Perhaps Tashina had underestimated him, believing he wouldn't dance well in a female body. As much as she didn't want to lose, she might not have the chance of beating her grandfather after his amazing stunt. Could this be the end?

Boogaloo glanced at Tashina, smiling like a demon. "Yuh next wretch yuh cya beat that?"
