Two drunk girls stumbled through the dark night, their laughter echoed through the gloomy streets of the city.
“Hey, Nancy…’higs’… what you doing?”
“I…I’m not feeling so good…”
Feeling increasingly nauseous from the large amounts of alcohol, Nancy hurried towards a dumpster in the hopes of keeping her clothes from getting stained by the puke.
Blarghhhh!
Nancy hung over a dumpster and vomited onto the trash below. The incredible stench that lingered around the dumpster made her feel even worse.
Exhausted and disorientated from the alcohol, she leaned against the wall next to the dumpster in an attempt to sit down and get a bit of rest.
The stench had gotten even more irritating, it smelled like rotten meat with some fruity nodes.
Nancy tried to see where her friend was. Looking to her right, an utterly terrified expression slowly appeared on her messy face.
On her right, squeezed in between the wall and the container, the lifeless eyes of a mangled corpse stared back at her.
Flies bused around the rotten head, crawling in and out of the eye sockets. It was a truly horrifying sight.
“Ahhhhhh…!”
With a hysterical shriek, Nancy jumped away from her improvised resting place, attempting to put as mach distance as possible between her and the dreadful corpse.
“Why are you making such a fuss Nancy…’higs’…”
Her friend looked at her panicked impression in confusion, clearly still intoxicated from the alcohol.
“H…He…Head…there is a head there!”
Horrified, Nancy pointed at the gap between the trash container and the wall, where she sat just seconds ago.
“What are you talking about,” her friend looked behind the garbage container, “…oh my god!!”
She quickly put her hand against her mouth in an attempt to prevent herself from vomiting at the disgusting sight of the rotten corpse.

Adam once again stood before the location of another brutal crime. He wasn’t quite sure what he did wrong, to always end up in such places.
Everywhere around him, the sirens of police cars echoed through the night. The flickering red and blue lights illuminated the streets.
It was pure chaos.
A mix of police, special forensic officers and personal in another kind of uniform scurried around the crime scene, feverishly talking to each other while still mostly keeping to their respective groups.
The police officers alone numbered over fifty, showing the sheer scale of the sudden mobilisation.
“It truly is a sad reality.” The Chief spoke besides him in a heavy voice.
“Yea, it hasn’t even been two days since they have been reported missing.”
Adam added, turning sideways to look at his partner.
“I have heard the captain is really furious…,” he added.
“Well, look how many of them are here, the higher ups are must be really serious this time.”
The Chief pointed at the group of people in tight grey uniforms in the distance.
“Who are they anyway?” Adam asked, he was still too new to be briefed an all the confidential stuff yet, and thus wasn’t private to all important things going on inside the police force.
“Hm… they are part of a secret division inside the police called Scpd,” The Chief lit himself a cigarette before slowly continuing “Supernatural crimes police department, these guys show up if something happens that is abnormal or unnatural. —For example, think back to the corpse we found on Monday, do you think a normal human could wound someone in such a way?”
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“I couldn’t…”
“Exactly, nobody could,” he took a puff from his cigarette,“ there are things we can’t understand in this world. There probably are horrors out there that neither you nor I could even begin to imagine, so the police needed a way to deal with these abnormal criminals and unnatural occurrences, and they created the Scpd.”
“So, there are criminals that have supernatural powers…?”
“No, not only criminals —the Scpd itself is mostly made up of people like that, how else would they be able to deal with such threats?”
Surprised, Adam took another look at the people in grey uniforms. Except for the fact that there were significantly fewer of them, they looked exactly like normal people. Nothing about them seemed unnatural or different to him.
“And what happens with normal people who become like this?” He asked curiously.
“They are required to register themselves with a special agency, so that their location and actions can be tracked by the police — But as you can probably guess, it’s really hard to find the people who don’t register. Although most choose to register themselves, some of them hide from authorities, maybe because they are criminals or because of another reason, we don’t know. Over the years, the police has named these unregistered people irregulars”.
Suddenly, a low ranking officer walked past them.
Sensing the opportunity, the chief suddenly asked him:
“Hey you, could you brief us on the situation here?”
Seeing the three stars on the chief’s badge, the man abruptly stopped in his tracks and saluted.
“YES Sir! We currently have identified four victims, it seems they were the group reported missing a few days ago!”
“We already know that, anything new?”
“Ah—Yes, we determined the cause of death for each one of them, first the corpse identified as Tim, something flung him against the dumpster. The impact damaged his lung in such a way, that died shortly later he of suffocation. The second, Mike died in a similar manner, his windpipe was shattered, causing him to suffocate as well. The third, Eric, got slammed into the wall, causing his skull to burst, he died almost immediately from the damage to his brain. The last was the hardest to identify…”
“Why?” The Chief raised an eyebrow.
“Well… almost his entire face was mangled, his lower jaw was missing completely. We had to run a DNA test since he was unrecognisable. His cause of death, surprisingly, wasn’t damage to the brain or blood loss like one might suspect. Actually his spine got shattered serving his nerves.”
“Is there anything else you found?”
“Ah yes,” the man hurriedly looked through his papers, “we found that all the deaths happened at roughly the same time, around 8:15pm. Furthermore, it seems as if the victims fought their attacker as a group—roughly where we stand now. After killing them, the murderer dragged their bodies behind the dumpster, probably in an attempt to give himself some time before they are discovered. We also found DNA on each of the victims that matches the one collected at various previous crime scenes. This leads us to believe, that the murderer was the Silent Killer—that’s all.”
“…Thank you very much, you were of great help to us.” The Chief nodded thankfully.
“No problem, Sir!”
Adam watched, as the old police man swiftly walked towards the yellow tape. Helping to put the ever-increasing amount of spectator under control, who had been attracted by the unusual display like moths to a flame.
“Who is the Silent Killer anyways?” Adam asked curiously.
The Chief thought for a moment, before he answered the question:
“There have been hundreds of murder cases over the years in our department. Around five years ago, we found a particular type of DNA that consistently showed up on the bodies of more and more victims. It didn’t match anything that we had collected in our data bank at the time, so it couldn’t have been a sloppy investigator who exigently contaminated the corpses,” he looked Adam directly in the eyes, “No— as far as we knew at the time, this was a serial killer, and an active on at that!” The chief sighted at the thought, “Since then the list of his victims has long exceeded three digits in our district alone.”
“But why such a strange name?” Adam continued his questioning.
“Well, somebody jokingly called him that, because we never found any traces before the corpses. Not even a single sound and since then, that name has stuck”.
I see…

They stood before the location where the bodies have been discovered.
Four white corp bags were neatly arranged on the ground. Where the ominous dumpster previously sat, white outlines of the positions in which the bodies have been found were painted onto the walls.
Blood stuck everywhere around the scene, and forensic personnel in white clothes were carefully picking and storing various pieces of evidence in small plastic bag.
Not far from them, Adam saw two girls sitting on the ground, wrapped in golden foil.
Their expressions were eerily lifeless. It seems they were the poor ones who discover this tragedy. The shock of the gruesome discovery probably resulted in some amount of trauma for them, Adam thought.
Suddenly a woman in grey uniform approached him and the Chief.
Her short fiery red hair shone like a fiery beacon in the cold night. Her white skin looked smooth and invigorating. Despite her unquestionable beauty, a web of scars covered every part of her visible skin like a spiderweb.
Looking expectantly at the chief’s badge, she suddenly started to speak:
“Are you the one send by the captain of this district?”
“Yea, and who are you?” He asked back in a low voice.
“I am the commander in chief of the unit responsible for hunting the vile creature that caused this.” She pointed at the body bags lying on the ground with a disgusted expression on her face.
“So, have you found anything noteworthy yet?” The chief asked.
“Over the years we have searched dozens of crime scenes like this one, some more dreadful than I could describe to you. But what happened to these kids was not nearly all this bastard is capable of. It seems as if he barely used his powers to eliminate them. It’s more feasible that he just toyed with them before swiftly ending their lives, otherwise we would have to search for their bodies piece by piece.”
She stated matter-of-factly, but the meaning of what she implied sent shivers down Adam’s spine.
To think someone was capable of doing things like that seemed ridicules to him. Not even mentioning the ridicules powers she mentioned, to toy with your victims like a beast with its prey was nothing short of savagery.
He gulped at the thought of someone like this freely roaming around the city.
“Have you found any new clues?”
He heard the chief carefully asking.
“Nothing—the cameras around here have all gone down around the time of the incident, and all the footage saved from before and after corrupted. From what it seems like, if there were any spectators who saw something suspicious, it would be extremely hard to find the after such a long time.”
She muttered, Adam could feel her suppressed rage bubble beneath her cold appearance.
“Thank you then, we will take the two girls back to the station and deliver the information to the captain as quickly as possible.”
“Yea do that…” She nodded absentmindedly.
Adam and the Chief spoke to the two girls. Apparently, despite their pitiful appearance, the medic had declared them mentally stable enough for further questioning. So they were going to escort them back to the police station.
Even though the chance of them possessing any kind of useful intel was near zero, they had to do it anyways. Adam felt relived at the opportunity to finally leave this cursed place.
They got the two girls and quickly entered the police car, driving away from the scene of the crime.
Adam looked outside the window and at the countless people enjoying themselves in the uncountable number of entertainment establishments all around.
Maybe I should also drink a bit today…
