Chapter 4
Family Meeting
The first question Silent asks his parents, “Who is you?” It might seem foolish, but in reality, it was a very appropriate question. Granted his first words did give them a fright. Silent’s tongue was not dexterous enough to really ask anything important, but he figured that given time, he would grow out of this awkward stage.
“Umm, we are your parents, you know us.” Silent’s new father’s brow creased and he squatted down to meet silent at eye level. His eye’s looked worried. Silent’s mother stood behind him worry was strewn across her face as well.
“No, what is you name’s? What do you do?” Silent asks, he gave up on attempting to make an “R” sound with his toddler sized tongue.
“Oh, well son, my name is Lavits, and your mother’s name is Lilith. I am a part of the chief's guard. I protect him from any bad guy that comes near.” Silent’s new father, Lavits, said assuredly. It seemed as if he wanted to teach Silent as well as look cool in front of him.
“What about Mom, what does Mom do?” Silent continue questioning. His parents look at each other in bewilderment.
“Well son, Mom doesn’t have to work really since I make enough at my job to provide, but she sometimes helps people that are hurt in our village.” Silent’s dad answered sincerely, Silent could tell that he worried about her, even though Silent inferred that they have likely lived in this house their whole life, and knew everyone fairly well.
“Oh. Who is the old lady?” Silent continue to ask quietly, in case she could hear. This question in particular had bothered him since he had met her.
“That is your grandma, you must not harass her, she will not endure it.” Lavits, Silent’s father, said rather strictly, as if he too was afraid of what she would do if Silent pulled on her hair or asked too many questions and annoyed her.

“Is she mean?” Silent asked, annoyed at himself for not being able to say ‘scary’.
“No, no, she isn’t mean. She is just set in her ways.” Silent’s father’s claim made Silent’s mother frown, but she did not butt in nor correct him.
“Can she weed minds?” Silent’s last question slipped out, his ‘R’ sounding like a ‘W’, but still getting the point across. As soon as the words left his lips though, his parents both looked horrified. Did I commit some kind of taboo? Silent thinks to myself.
“Where would you get that idea?” his mother asks sternly yet quietly, as if they are being watched and she had to quiet down someone who was being rowdy.
“Maybe Ganma is good at weeding expwesions,” Silent says hurriedly, he caught on immediately that this was a talent that must be kept under lock and key.
“Yes, yes, that must be it,” Silent’s father says, his voice was shaking a little. He follows this by reprimanding me “You must not talk like that son, it is bad.”
“Ok dad!” Silent exclaims, as if it never happened while thinking to himself I guess I will have to suck it up and bother this grandma of mine, maybe she can send and receive thoughts, it would be much more convenient to actually know what is going on.
Silent waited several days between that conversation and actually meeting with his grandma, afraid that there is some outside oppressive force who would kill him and this new family if a coincidence like that conversation and him sitting in that room and staring at the old lady were to take place too suddenly. I might be paranoid, but paranoia is only an issue if you have nothing to fear. He thought to himself, I hadn’t lived cautiously in my previous life, but the pain I felt while getting my head stomped in had definitely left a scar, he thought to himself again. I will never put myself in a life and death situation again. How many times does someone get a second chance? Once in ten thousand lives? That still isn’t much. Compared to how often it could be believed to have occurred in his last life, how many people could actually say they came from a different world or time? He felt kind of excited over the situation, he had lived a life that seemed far more advanced yet is now living in a plain of existence in which neither computers nor even electricity exist. He could quite literally change the world. He could make everything here more convenient for everyone, he could be this planet’s Nikola Tesla.
He was unaware however that some people had the power of a super reactor stored within their bodies and they were capable of destroying everything he had ever known in just a blink. In this life, this goal was set before him without him even knowing it.
