A shadow looms over him. A chill wind blows on his splintering skin, but he can't feel a thing. His fingers rub a small visible crack on his forehead. A creature hidden in the shadow walks on the sand, closer to his side. "They think the story is almost over. The happy ending is in grasp. Well, it isn't meant for them, is it?"
The creature looms closer as Void continues to talk. "It is meant for us. They view themselves as the knights or heroes. I see them as the villains. Though the difference is that I can sympathize with them—their struggles and motivations—while they see me as a faceless monster. Kind of funny."
The Beast stops by his side. The light of the crystals on the cavern's ceiling shines on its dove-white fur. The wooden mask is blue, with the curled horns a neon-pink color. The bright colors contrast with the dark atmosphere.

Void places his hand on the head of the Beast. "I'm sorry two of your brothers couldn't meet their new lovely sister. It breaks my heart knowing you were robbed of that opportunity. I won't let their sacrifices be in vain. Their blood will feed the fruits of our labor so that I can be whole, in turn making you all whole."
Void walks forward. "You still have one brother out there. I can't wait for you to meet them." Void places his hand on the black bark towering above. His flames gaze upon the rotting tree growing from the sand. He stares closely at the branches. Slowly they grow, and white leaf buds sprout from the stretching limbs.
"It has grown, yet it still has plenty more growing to do," Void says. An ache comes from the crack on his forehead. He places his head on the bark of the tree. "I know we will be fine. The righteous always prevail at the end. We will get what we need. That is how this story will end." Void turns to the Beast, who sits listening to every word. The white flames burn bright in his eyes as he says, "I promise you."
