Chapter 27 – The First Choice

Arslan felt a new sensation. It was like something important was happening without his notice, and he had no clue what. If he hadn’t felt this, he would have left this place and let them do whatever they wanted on the Planet Animara. After all, not being afraid of death and seeking it were two different things. He definitely couldn’t die young. Dying before the age of fifty would be a humiliation he would have to live with forever. It wouldn’t matter if he returned to the world of the living again or not.

But would he get away from this, just to avoid a possible humiliation? He felt the resonance before, and now sensed something that paused him, as if he were off script and free to decide something for the first time. It felt odd, important, and unsafe.

Yet he only cared for the important and a little bit of the odd. Anything odd meant an opportunity to understand something different. And different, though not always good, was a chance that not many could get.

He looked at the women before him and said , “Okay, you can follow.” They must know more about it. He needed every advantage he could get.

Upon hearing his acceptance, Mortelle wanted to release the tension and sigh contentedly, yet couldn’t. The being in front of her was strange, and it was better to show as little expression as possible. Just like Arslan, she too searched for her way to the Divinity. There was nothing she wouldn’t do to raise her chances, since they were currently zero, just like her ancestors. And she knew this was more important to her, given her unique legacy that reduced her chances, unlike Arslan, who walked a Path that was fairly simple.

However, she wasn’t aware that Arslan was an ambitious person, and Arslan was fine with that. He cared for power more than anyone in the whole galaxy, to the point of entering a war that could potentially create a chain reaction of warfare through the universe cycles yet to come.

His personality had worked so far, and he wasn’t going to give it away.

Mortelle looked around the room and asked to learn the identity of the man beside Arslan, “Who will come with you?”

Arslan smiled, and patted Eren on the shoulders, and said, “My nephew will come with me while the protector will follow us.”

“I didn’t know there was a prince from your brother, Your Majesty.”

“Oh. And here I thought you had checked him out because his handsomeness is similar to mine.” If she had heard it from others, she would have taken it at face value. But she couldn’t in this case. She had done her research, and although it was normal for someone of his stature having an ego was understandable, she knew about his legends. Unlike the ordinary mortals who weren’t in the know, it couldn’t be said the same for those who were overly interested in one of the most powerful Mortals to exist, though there were others who were said to be comparable to him. That left the only one possibility. Truth.

She carefully compared them. First was Arslan. With his opaque blond hair, he should have looked feminine, but there was none of it. His pale red eyes were also different from the royal family’s dominant genes that produced bright red. His physique was broad and tall. His hair might have come from his mother, who wasn’t well known, but other characteristics were suspicious. It might be due to how Immortals didn’t contain genes the same way Mortals did, but she doubted that it was the case here.

Sometimes, powerful people had something that made them different. And I bet this is the case right here, she thought.

As for Eren, she could see the overall royal aura that she had seen in previous royal family members of the Luvi Empire. With darker skin that must have come from his mother, she now understood that their choice of women was different from the norm. Nothing else could explain the pattern they followed.

However, they were familiar, and she didn’t need to use her cultivation to understand that. Yes, Eren’s handsomeness really was similar to Arslan’s, but with a touch of exoticism. She also noticed his shirt that was slightly open, revealing tattoos and shapes that those with unique bloodlines had. Similar to her tattoos, yet different. They didn’t belonged to beasts, that she was sure of. She wanted to sigh, yet couldn’t. This family was really interesting.

It was becoming awkward, especially with Eren’s uncomfortable expression, so she decided to change the topic. “We gathered preliminary data on the Planet Animara and found that there were ancient ruins from the Barbaric Era. It’s the place that should be the cause of your potential death. Fortunately, we also felt the change after coming here. The deadly event must have altered somehow.”

Now he understood. If he had refused, he wouldn’t have known this. He felt like this was a joke done by some higher power, but he also wasn’t sure.

“Do you know what might be the cause?” Maybe she knew, but he doubted it.

“Unfortunately, no. But if it can threaten you…it must be worth a lot.” She smiled, and Arslan returned the smile. Eren looked at them with bewilderment. He felt a loss after the woman shifted her attention from him.

He felt the need to make his presence known. Hiding his introverted self, he cleared his throat silently and asked, “So, when are we leaving?”

“Why not now?” Arslan answered, getting up from his seat, then paused. He focused on his seal and opened the treasury. Everything was listed here, and he went to the section designated for royalty, setting the ownership of a few essential items to Eren. Due to the Sect focusing on the Dao cultivation, they lacked the necessary things that could protect their existence specifically.

He turned to Eren and said, “Check your inventory. You already have treasures that would suffice, but these are items only something that a prince could acquire. Even Erdem only had one set.”

Eren opened his inventory with doubt. He wasn’t sure what to expect. After all, he was a Dao cultivator, not an Existence cultivator. But he was also aware that the Empire had things he could hardly think of acquiring before his acceptance. His mother could only cover his bloodline treasures as she was away most of the time while also providing for her legion, battling her own race, thus treasures were scarce on her end. He again felt emotional but didn’t show it.

He finally opened his inventory, not bothering to check the notifications, and saw five different items. These items were of similar dimensions but differing shapes. One was a sphere, one was a cube, one was a square-based pyramid, one was a cone, and the last a triangular prism. Reading their descriptions made his heart race. Eternal this, eternal that, Eternal, Eternal, Eternal. His mind was filled with the details, making him forget his surroundings.

Now, even Selena had her attention here. No one had seen the crown prince. Some thought he was born deformed. Some thought he was talentless. Some even thought he was dead. And no one knew the standards of the current generation of royalty, especially since Arslan was different. Their expectations were especially high, yet they could only remain uninformed. That might change now.

However, Arslan still had some tact. “You should go to your room and use them.”

Eren nodded without diverting his attention and went through the halls, leaving two curious women and a female beast.
