A couple weeks back, to the day just after Sylvia had managed to kill the bear. A groggy Sylvia awoke as the sun approached the middle of the sky and was at first confused as to why she was laying out on the grass. But all it took was for her to try to move her leg to bring all of yesterday’s events back, along with a searing pain that soon appeared in her left hand a well.
With gritted teeth from the pain, she got into a sitting position that allowed her to inspect her leg. And to her surprise, the leg looked surprisingly well; sure, it still looked quite bad with a surprising amount of scab for a single night’s recovery, but it was for some reason no longer broken. That’s when she remembered that she had leveled up quite a bit, which, when combined with how the wound from the wolf a while ago had recovered quite a lot when she leveled up, pretty clearly seemed to indicate a connection between leveling up and boosted recovery.
And compared to the time with the wolf, she was sure that she had leveled up a lot more this time, so it wasn’t unreasonable for it to help heal the bone. “Wait, how much did I exactly level up? And what about my new stats? Also, didn’t other things pop up?” With quite a few questions, she decided it was about time to open up her status and take a look.

The user fought and won a fight against a bear of the fire element that was far out of their league of what should've been possible.
-Bears with a stat total higher than you will not attack unless really prompted to.
-The instincts of bears with a stat total equal to or less than your own will see you as someone to avoid.
-Deal 20% extra damage when striking bears.
-Deal an additional 30% extra damage if the bear is a fire variant.
-Minor increase in affinity with the element of fire.
When she saw the MP and mana stat, her jaw couldn’t do anything but drop. “T-That’s so much mana.” The title she had managed to obtain certainly wasn’t anything to scoff at either; 20% to 50% damage increase when facing bears would give her a very big boost in those encounters, not to mention the fact that she obtained a new affinity to boot, and it was one as useful as fire. She’ll now no longer need to bother with wasting time on lighting a campfire with the simple methods.
Aside from that, she had also obtained another form to turn into, which brought her one step closer towards unlocking that LOCKED class as Frank. “Wait a second, when I switched back when my body was cold and drenched, my body temperature changed to the usual. Maybe it works the same with injuries.” With that in mind, she changed into Frank and was sorely disappointed.
“God dammit, I had really hoped that’d have worked.” Looking around him, it didn’t take him long to find the stick used for the spear, which had managed to mostly survive. It was a little destroyed at the end, but that didn’t really matter for now. Currently, all that mattered was that it was long, solid, and easy to carry, because then it could be used as a balance stick in case the injured leg wasn’t stable enough.
“Welp, since that didn’t fix it, I’ll just have to be careful while it heals up. Luckily the blessing from Geb boosts recovery speed, and my vitality is also quite up there compared to the other stats. That stat at least sounds like it’d help with healing and a boost to it is in the same blessing as the recovery boost, so it’d make sense for the effects to be related.”
Now came the big question, could he get up and move around. First of all, he quickly discovered that he shouldn’t lay his weight on the left leg, as while the bone may have recovered from its broken state, it most definitely wasn’t healed fully. Second, getting up on one leg was surprisingly easy, probably as a result of the highly increased strength stat. Third, for balance, the spear stick was a pretty good help.
“Okay, time to figure out what to do. Regardless of anything, that bear has to be moved, as right now it’ll just lure other animals closer. I also have to figure out what I want for the new form slot. Not to mention that I have a whole new cave to make new things for. Practicing some magic would also be a really good addition, especially since I’m new to fire magic.”
Having laid somewhat of a plan, he decided to begin with an entirely different plan, a plan made by his stomach. With a little difficulty, from having to use his walking stick on the same side as his healthy leg, he made it back to the cave. In there, the first edible he saw was the weird blue fruit he’d found yesterday. For a second he considered whether or not to try it, but eventually he decided against it; he was already injured, no need to risk poisoning as well.
Instead, he just grabbed one of the remaining carnips and ate the entire thing. Once that was done, it was a toss-up between making the new form and trying to work something out with the bear. In the end, he decided to deal with the bear first, then he’d have time to think a bit more on what to make.
The task of tackling the bear seemed quite daunting at first, but when he recalled the technique, he’d learned when facing the bear, the problem ended up fairly trivial, though pretty cost-heavy mana wise. His simple solution was to channel his mana into the ground and use that to move the bear for him, which ended up working surprisingly well. While the solution in the end had been quite obvious in hindsight, it’d taken him well over half an hour before he remembered that he could use magic in his problem-solving. He’d also ended up not thinking about what to make whatsoever.
Once the bear was properly inside the cave, the time had come to make the new form. So, Frank mentally called ‘[Person of Many Faces], use blank form slot.’ A familiar pop-up immediately appeared before him, but unlike the last time, it was the same red and black closer as his regular pop-up instead of blue and gold. The same white mannequin figure appeared before him as well.

This time, he decided to take a good and proper look at the races instead of just picking something and getting on with it.

“Oh boy. There is a lot to choose from. Hmm, Human and Elf are out, as I already have those. The thing I’m most interested in currently is tracking ability, as I’m really not good at that. Of those available here, I think that it’ll either have to be Beastfolk or Avian, and since I don’t really feel like having to deal with wings and having to learn to fly, I think I’ll pick beastfolk.” Pretty satisfied with his own reasoning, Frank picked the beastfolk option, making a blank tail and two blank ear sprout out from the mannequin.

“Of course. I could’ve said myself that I’d have to pick a specific species.” Part of Frank wanted to pick bear due to the irony of gaining this form from a bear and them having good senses. But there was also a part of him that was leaning more towards picking wolf, as he was more familiar with that type of beastfolk in media. In the end, he decided to pick bearfolk, as he couldn’t really come up with any really good reason to pick wolffolk instead; it’s not as if he was part of a pack.
Once he selected that as the species, the tail and ears of the mannequin turned into the bear variety, and the age was automatically set to 17. The question then landed on the gender. “I think I’ll go with female, as then I can maybe awaken some mama bear thingy.” He said the last part as a joke, but thanks to not really caring about the gender of this form that was enough reason for him to pick female.
“I think a big and strong woman is a must in this case, it is a bear person after all.” As the vision began to take form in his mind, the mannequin began to change to fit it. The two most obvious changes where to its gender and skin tone, with the latter changing to become a more olive color. Then it suddenly shot upwards, reaching just above two meters at 202 cm. This was followed by clearly defined muscles taking shape all over the body and especially at the thigh, which weren’t exactly small either. The breasts also grew to a pretty large size.
The hair was next, springing out from the scalp in a pretty standard grizzly bear brown color. It flowed pretty wildly until it reached the middle of the back where it stopped. The main remaining thing was next, the face. It gained some pretty hard features and could even appear intimidating, but nothing to the extent that it’d be too hard to show care or appreciation. The eyes also got a deep blue color that felt like it could pierce through one.
That all left two things, the age, which Frank quickly moved up to 21, and the name, which he had come up with while everything else was happening ‘Calysta Björn’. With everything done, he voiced out “Finished” and the mannequin was gone. Unlike how he didn’t know how to use the system when he first made Sylvia, this time he knew exactly what to do, so he changed into Calysta for the first time.
The first thing Calysta noticed was the change in eye level, followed shortly by the feeling of having pretty large breasts, but just like how it went with Sylvia, within a couple minutes, she had begun to get used to it already. This was especially so, since she was already used to being a woman as Sylvia, so it was just some smaller changes to get used to. She also noticed that her clothes were quite similar, a brown tunic and brown pants. Curious as to what her racial ability was, she opened up her status.

“Oh boy, those stats are certainly something, but there are certainly also some downsides. But for tracking, this should most certainly be good.” Her voice was a little of the deeper end of the spectrum. “Alrighty, now that this is done, time to get thing done while the leg heals.
Over the next week, Frank spent most of his time in the cave, crafting and making things, making pretty good progress on leveling his class and making the cave a much nicer place to be. The bear also served as a pretty large food source, though it took a fair bit of effort to get mostly clean. At the end of the week, his left hand had already fully recovered, and his leg was in a state where he felt alright moving lightly around. He had also managed to get a good chunk of magic practice in, familiarizing himself with fire magic as well.
The following week was a bit more interesting, as he had resumed spear training in addition to doing whatever else he was doing. A fair amount of the crafting time had also been allocated to training a little tracking as well. At the week’s end, he’d managed to raise his |Basic Spearmanship| to level 24 but had hit a bottleneck that an additional two days of practice didn’t help in any way. His leg had also reached a point where it still hurt somewhat to move around, but he was able to move around without much issue.
Thus, it reaches today where he had decided to try and track some of the goblins from the old camp as Calysta to really see how much of a difference it made. And while it most certainly made it a lot easier, that care was very quickly thrown out the window when she saw the six people surrounded by goblins. Curious to know more about this world, she decided to save them, so she turned into Sylvia and prepared for battle with a new and improved version of the stone spear.
Unsure exactly how strong the big leader goblin was, she sneaked up on him and ended him in a quick surprise attack. As he slid off her spear, Sylvia smiled at the people and said, “Need a hand?” While ignoring the notifications that popped up.
