The Welcome....

The Welcome....

----------------------------------------

On the other side of the conversation, Takuo considered the village head's offer. He knew that Yuna needed a safe place to rest and recover from the shock of losing her father and the trauma of the castle attack.

In the captured castle, Kuro was inspecting the aftermath of the attack. The once-beautiful halls and rooms were now littered with broken furniture and shattered glass, and the walls and floors were stained with blood.

Kuro had a satisfied smirk on his face as he observed the carnage around him. The captives, the once proud samurai Rokuske and Kairo, were now tied up in a corner, their faces bruised and battered from the fighting.

Rokuske and Kairo's eyes burned with anger and determination as they defiantly looked at Kuro, their faces set in expressions of defiance. They held their heads high despite the bruises and scratches on their faces, their gazes unflinching as they stared down their captor.

Kuro smirked as he saw the defiant looks on Rokuske and Kairo's faces. "You two look like you still have some fight in you," he sneered, taking a few steps closer to them.

He looked at them up and down, his expression contemptuous. "You're both samurai, right? I've heard that your kind are supposed to be fearless warriors. But you two don't look so brave now, tied up and helpless with your faces all bruised."

He chuckled, enjoying their captive state. "I guess you're not so tough without your swords and armor, are you? You're just like the rest of them - weak and pathetic."

Rokuske and Kairo sneered at Kuro's taunts, their eyes filled with anger and pride.

"We may be tied up, but we're still samurai," Rokuske spat, his voice firm and steady.

"We don't need our swords and armor to have courage," Kairo added, his gaze steady despite his bruised face

Kuro smirked as he listened to Rokuske and Kairo's defiant response.

"You both have fire in you, I'll give you that," he said, before turning his attention to Kairo. "But let's see how long that lasts."

With a swift and brutal movement, Kuro clenched his fist and delivered a powerful punch to Kairo's face, knocking him to the ground with a painful thump.

Rokuske and Kairo were both tied up, and their hands were tied tightly behind their backs, leaving them defenseless against Kuro's attack. As Kairo fell to the ground, he winced in pain, his face showing the impact of the blow from Kuro's ruthless punch.

Rokuske, meanwhile, looked at Kairo with concern and anger, his eyes wide with worry as he saw his comrade suffer from the blow. Despite being tied up, he still struggled against the rope bindings, his desperation to free himself and help his comrade obvious.

The other bystander bandits watching the scene chuckled with sadistic amusement as they saw Kairo fall to the ground from Kuro's punch. They enjoyed the display of power and cruelty, their expressions derisive as they looked at the defeated samurai.

"You think you're invincible, huh?" he taunted, taking a step closer to them. "You think you can withstand anything I throw at you?"

The other bandits chuckled with derision as they watched, their sneers growing wider.

Rokuske's thoughts were filled with anger and defiance as he heard Kuro's taunt.

'He thinks he can break us?' he thought, his jaw clenching as he resisted the urge to retorted. 'We're samurai. We were trained to endure pain and to never show weakness.

In the village, Takuo and Yuna had been welcomed into the village head's house, which was a surprisingly large and comfortable dwelling compared to most of the other houses in the village. They had been given some food and hot tea to drink, and the village head's wife had provided them with fresh clothes and a bed to rest on

As they sat at a low table in the house, taking a break from the day's events, Yuna spoke up, her voice soft and grateful.

"Thank you for your hospitality," she said to the village head's wife, her gratitude clear in her tone. "We are truly in your debt for taking us in."

"Think nothing of it, young lady," the village head's wife replied, her voice warm and kind. "We are happy to offer you and your companion a place to rest and recover from your ordeal."

As Takuo and Yuna sat together at the low table, they spoke quietly, their voices low to avoid being overheard by the village head's wife.

"Are you alright?" Takuo asked, his voice soft and concerned as he looked at Yuna.

Yuna smiled weakly, her expression weary but composed. "I'm tired and scared, but I'll be fine," she said, her voice steadier than he might have expected. "It's thanks to you that I'm still alive."

As Takuo spoke formally to the young lady, she couldn't help but feel a bit uncomfortable. His politeness was nice, but it was also somewhat distant and cold. It felt like there was a wall between them, a barrier that kept him at a respectable distance.

Finally, the young lady spoke up, her voice gentle but firm. "You don't have to be so formal with me, you know," she said.

Takuo looked at her, surprised by her words. "I apologize if I've offended you," he said, his tone suddenly more casual. "I just wanted to show you the respect you deserve."

"I appreciate that," she replied, her voice still gentle but with a hint of warmth in her tone. "But you can speak me more casually, if you want. It's not necessary to be so formal all the time."

Takuo was thrown off by her words, but he also felt a sense of relief at the thought of being able to speak more informally to her. "Are you sure?" he asked, hesitating for a moment

"I'm sure," she replied, a small smile playing at the corner of her lips. "You don't have to be so careful around me. You can relax a little."

The head's son entered the room, a large and imposing young man with a brutish appearance but a surprising youthfulness. He towered over Takuo and Yuna, his broad shoulders and muscular arms making him look much older than he actually was.

"Welcome," he said, his voice deep and gruff. "My father told me to come introduce myself to you."

His eyes scanned over Takuo and Yuna, and there was a hint of curiosity in his gaze as he took in their appearances. He looked like he could break rocks with his bare hands, and his rough exterior made him seem like he would be just as comfortable in a bar brawl as in a polite social gathering.

"My name is Ryosei," he said, his voice deep and gruff. "I'm the son of the village head, and I will be your host while you are here."

Despite his intimidating size, there was a hint of politeness in his tone, as if he was trying to temper his natural roughness with a facade of civility.

"I'll leave you to rest now," Ryosei said, his voice still gruff but less blunt than before. "My mother will be by shortly with some food and fresh clothes for you."

With that, he nodded his head in farewell and left the room, leaving Takuo and Yuna alone to rest and recover from their ordeal.

"Well," Takuo said after a moment, "he certainly seems like a... character."
