The heart racing begins the moment the car pulls into the airport parking lot. The smell of jet fuel, automobile exhaust, and hot tarmac combine to assault the senses with images of exotic escapes and the kind of freedom that can only come from airports. Ajay could see people listening to music and playing video games. He could hear the couple behind him chatting about the weather in Delhi and the possibility of rain. He could recognize the smell of fading perfume that women are wearing.
The whir of wheels on marble and concrete mixed with the mechanical, yet pleasant, voice on the public address system calling for someone to go to the nearest courtesy phone, or announcing that flight 896 is now boarding at gate 11.
Underneath the functional surface is an undercurrent of excitement, anticipation, impatience, and boredom. He could hear the snippets of conversation from people passing him on their way to the next gate.
“Ah, flight had been delayed coming from Dubai. I want to sue the airways for poor service.”
Ajay was standing in line along with passengers in Indira Gandhi International Airport of New Delhi with intentions to board flight to London. He had already checked in immigration counter and all he needed to was aboard the flight and have some sleep or play games. He hoped he won’t face problems with the jet-lagging because he slept in late nights in India. Having boarded flight, Ajay could feel the thrum of the engines at takeoff and the vibration of the plane during the flight in his skin. It felt exciting. He looked through window at the big buildings slowly diminishing in size as if some Mage has cast a magic to turn the massive structures to become miniature arts. A small smile crept through on his face as he remembered the stories and novels about the VR games.
Ajay thought - I would be having a job in few days, I should stay away from them.

Ajay had graduated from the most prominent Engineering colleges of India known as IIT. Indian Institute of Technology or in short IIT takes in students after an entrance exam well known for its degree of difficulty. Ajay was a proud when he was admitted into IIT. Why wouldn’t he? He had especially studied hard for joining in this particular college. He wanted to carry the same motivation in the following years. But wanting and doing were not same. He was introduced into a type of addiction by his roommate. Addiction was not towards some narcotic drugs or drinks, but was to things like manga and anime. He spent many hours reading countless mangas and watching various amine. He unintentionally decreased the time spent on studying his course subjects and in turn affected his own grades. He at the ending of his engineering wished the stories he read about appearing in different world was true or he had some kind of superpowers. But reality was harsh. Over the years he was losing confidence in himself and to lose his frustration went to gym and spent many hours exercising their. He didn’t exercise to get fit, but rather let out his steam. He started having bulging muscles all over his body. They would have made him more likable, but he was only of height 5’ 7”. He with not so tall stature, had bulging muscles and a serious face he inherited from his father who had a little less serious face than Ajay, made him not so boyfriend material. He was lucky enough to get a job in London, which was thanks to his reputed college and few months of serious study he gave to get some or the other job. But in the end he was happy while travelling in flight towards London where he will see bright future. Little did he knew the flight would take him to some other world he really and wholeheartedly wished during all those years.
