Rin’s eyelids fluttered a few times before she awoke. Opening her eyes, she saw right above her the enormous skull of the boss's body.
She knew it was dead, but the sight of its rows of teeth sent a shiver down her spine. Rin had seen what it had done to her arm with its last moments and released a sigh.
Tilting her head up, she looked downwards and found herself lying on her back in a pool of blood. It was still somewhat liquid-y and didn't dry completely which told her that she hadn't passed out for too long.
"Urgh," she groaned, trying to lift her body up.
However, her body refused to respond and instead sent a wave of pain through her body.
"Haaah," she exhaled and leaned her head back down, resting it in the pool of blood.
The Aspect of Boreas had done quite a number on her. She realized that she had been overconfident in trying to fight the boss, alone at that. There were so many things she could have done like completing the Howling Wolf armor set or chosen a class. But now, it didn't matter. She had slain the boss and all that was left to do was take what was rightfully hers.
A few minutes passed as she rested on the ground. Rin knew that she had to get moving as without the presence of the boss. The lower-tier monsters would start looking for her.
Again, she tried to push herself up but the pain emanating from her left arm didn't let her.
Instead, she created an ice pillar below herself. It pushed herself up and she got to her feet without jarring her arm.
"Alright, how bad is it..." she muttered.
She hadn't wanted to look at the damage inflicted on her arm but she had to know the severity of the injury.
Looking downwards at her left arm, she hissed at the sight.
Her hand was fine and her arm was bent at an odd angle. But that wasn't the worst of it. Starting from her wrist to the middle of her bicep, all she could see was cracked white bone. There were still bits of her flesh and muscle remaining but it didn't do much to ease the sight.
Trying to move her arm didn't have much of a reaction as the muscle connections of her arm were severed and didn't allow for any movement.
She started to cover her arm with ice but suddenly sucked in a breath of air as a mind-numbing pain shot up her nerves.
"You've got to be joking..." she murmured.
Gritting her teeth, she hovered her right arm over her left bicep and started to form her ice around the bone. What ensued was a searing pain that made her fall to her knees. All she wanted to do at this moment was rip her arm off as from experience it was far less painful. But doing so would leave her in need of a healer who could regrow limbs. With the current state of her arm a decent healer could patch her up using her skeleton as the base.
Enduring the pain, she completed the cast around on her arm as beads of sweat dropped from her forehead. Rin knew that her natural regeneration at level twenty would not be enough to heal her arm fully, but with the cast it would at least numb some of the pain.
Breathing heavily, she made a chair with her ice and checked her status and system notifications.
[Ice Mage – lvl 20]
HP: 60/200
MP: 110/1000
Rin let out another deep sigh when she saw her current number of hit-points, once again reminding her that she was too reckless. Swiping it away, she continued to scroll through her notifications.
[You have slain – (Aspect of Boreas – lvl 20 - Chieftain)]
“Yeah, no shit,” Rin grumbled, looking at the creatures corpse which lay a couple feet away from her.
She stared at the creature as a sudden anger rose within her. Getting off the chair, she walked over to its corpse and kicked its head.
"Motherfucker!" she cursed when the impact coursed through her body and into her left arm. The pain whisked away her anger and she realized what she had just done. Slightly embarrassed, she walked back to her chair and continued to look through the messages.
[New Class Advancement Option Achieved]
"Now that's what I'm talking about!" she grinned widely upon seeing the notification. Rin had half expectedly thought that the system notification wouldn't appear. But it was right in front of her eye along with all its systematic glory.
Checking the requirements, she found she had already met the requirements of the hidden class.
Heiress of Ice:
You have achieved a feat that separates you from the rest. You have defeated an enemy far stronger than yourself using the base ‘Ice Mage’ class while alone.
Born from the inhospitable cold, the ‘Heiress of Ice’ harnesses the power of ice to defeat their foes.
Requirements:
Have the Ice Mage Class (+)
100 Agility (+)
Fifty E Ranked Mana Cores (+)
1 D Ranked Mana Core (+)
Defeat an elite ranked monster above your level while alone (+)
Defeat a chieftain ranked monster while alone (+)
“I guess I'm royalty now..." she said aloud, reading the class name.
Selecting the class change option, a brilliant blue light started to shine around her body.
Suddenly, the boss's corpse started to emit a faint light near its heart. A squelching noise resounded out as the D ranked mana core within the boss’ corpse was brought out by the system and lifted into the air.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Hovering in front of her eyes, Rin could see the mana core emanating a pulsing white light with streaks of blue running across the core in lightning like patterns.
Fifty of her mana cores were also brought out of her inventory as each of them shone in a dim light of blue. They separated into two strings of 25 and circled around Rin’s body as her body began to ascend into the air.
One of the strings went from above her right shoulder to her left waist as it rotated around her while the other did the opposite on the other shoulder.
Her azure hair fluttered in the air as it started to glow with light, changing from the once blue to a completely snowy white. Feeling a tingly feeling in her eyes, she shut her eyes as the white impurities in her irises were cleansed. Opening her eyes revealed sharp intelligent eyes that were completely blue.
She watched as the power of the shining mana cores were transferred into her body. Each core popping with a crisp bell like sound as they dissipated, their purpose acheived. Floating back to the ground, Rin landed on the s now as the class advancement completed itself.
“Status,” Rin said, feeling her body emanating with power.

Her skills, ‘Lesser Mana Regeneration’ and ‘Elementary Ice Magic’ had advanced to the next stage increasing the effects of the skill. However, Rin paid extra attention to her updated skill ‘Protection of Ice ★’ which had the new addition of increasing the effects of all her stats by 200%, her new title ‘Irregular’ synergized greatly with her passive effect.
She had also received a new skill from her class advancement to ‘Heiress of Ice.’

Deciding to test it out, she created a ball of ice the size of her palm and threw it into the air.
Activating the skill, she instantly appeared in the air before landing on the ground, simultaneously being careful to not jar her ice encased arm.
“Teleporting, sweet,” Rin smiled upon feeling the effects of the skill.
It would definitely help her out in future fights, or just getting around.
Another added effect of her class advancement came with receiving an extra flat hundred wisdom, intelligence, and agility which further solidified her status of a battle mage.
'There was one more thing,' she thought and looked over to the boss's corpse, 'The drops.'
Looking into her inventory, she saw that some of the slots were taken up by some new items.
There were two pieces of green armor, one blue weapon and one blue accessory.
She found the armor to be decent for its level, nothing too special, but the weapon and the accessory had her grinning.

Summoning the sword into her hand, she found it to be quite comfortable while the blade itself was double edged with a surface cool to the touch.
Rin twirled the sword in the air with her one good arm and infused her mana into the blade. The blade lit up with a bluish hue while the air around the blade crackled from the cold
She equipped the sword and put it back into her inventory where she could take it out at any time.
As for the earrings, she brought it out of her inventory and examined its details.
They were also white like the sword, but the earrings were in the shape of a pointed tooth. She didn't really like the look of the earrings, but that didn't matter to her.
What did matter was the skill imbedded into the item. It was a self-buffing skill that was rather strong for its level, but its drawbacks were also pretty large.
She equipped the earrings and confirmed that her stats had increased from the item effects. Happy with the rare items, she brought out the other pieces of equipment. One was a pair of greaves covered with a thick layer of fur. The other piece was a light leather breastplate that would cover the frontal part of her body. They each gave her an increase of 10 endurance and vitality points.
As she was currently injured, she chose to equip the armor but didn't physically wear the items. However, she still gained the stats from the items but if an attack came flying at her. The armor would have no physical effect.
Finished with all the equipment, she checked her full status, once more displaying all the changes that her class advancement created along with the effects of her new equipment.

Looking at her updated status and newfound power, Rin felt satisfied, she looked over everything until her eyes fell on the destroyed bracers. Glancing downwards towards her left arm she let out a sigh.
She shook her head before she looked at the magic circle at the end of the clearing that was glowing with a slight blue hue. It was most definitely the exit but there was something that she still had to do.
"That's mine," she muttered and walked over to the boss's corpse.
Summoning her new sword, the first thing it would be used on would be to extract the wolf's horn.
She slashed downwards with her right arm as the sword cut cleanly through the horn which fell to the ground.
[Boreas’ Essence – Rare Quality]
Grabbing the item, she stashed it into her inventory before walking to the exit.
[Would you like to leave the Ice Forest Dungeon?]
‘I hope I don’t instantly die again.’ Rin thought, thinking of how she ended up in this place before pressing yes on the screen in front of her eyes.
