Chapter 11: Demon Lord descend

The bright moon exudes a violet-ish light. Compared to the warm sunlight, it gives a colder and yet more serene kind of feeling. It zooms out and the true form of the moon is finally revealed.

It's not a moon. But an iris surrounded by schelra of sea of stars. The majestic ethereal figure exudes a glow through its ethereal skin and long hair.

‘Find the Sun’-

The voice ranged directly in the mind, waking Vi’s up.

Urghh…

Vi was awakened as he felt ringing in his head and to pain in all his body. He felt like he broke a few bones.

Vi was shocked at the dream. He had the feeling that was the Goddess, what possessed him and saved his life back then.

Is it just a dream? He felt cold sweat dropped. It doesn’t feel like it. It’s as if, it’s an out of body experience. As if it’s his soul that has been communicating with the being.

He opened his eyes, to see his surroundings.

He was inside a tent. He noticed he was bandaged all over.

He used magic to inspect himself to realise he did break a few bones.

He tried to sense Ray. He can feel a dim mana signature from the seal he placed not so far away southward from here. It means Ray is alive. He needs to get back to him soon.

He remembers Tiara. He felt guilty, for not able to hold onto her. But he knows he tried his best still… So, he forgives himself for his inadequate power.

Around him, he saw some injured people also being wrapped. He thought it’s the passengers that are washed away but upon closer observation he realised they are soldiers and mercenaries from their clothing. There are even a few elves around.

Where am I? Where is this?

A woman in white clothes, with a necklace with a sun symbol of the Light Church comes to inspect the patients.

Vi called out to her. ‘Miss- miss-’

The nun walked hurriedly to him.

“You are awake! How do you feel?”.

She crouched and hovered her hand over Vi, a warm gold light emanates - holy power – can be felt.

She is the only healer there and she only use enough holy power to at least treat the injuries enough to ensure they live and couldn’t spend all of her energy on a single person.

‘I am fine. Where is this?’.

The nurse thought for a moment and explains the detail.

Balkan, west of the elven kingdom. *Note that the elven kingdom is divided into the Innerland and Outerland. The Innerland is heavily restricted such that human and other races won’t be able to enter easily and it's exclusive for Elves only. While the outerland is much freer.

Due to distance between the human kingdom and the elven one a lot of humans stay in the Outerland.

The nun explained someone happened to find Vi after the tsunami receded, seemingly passed out. He brought Vi to the army camp which is nearby. They were there to defend against the sudden monster horde.

It’s lucky that Vi wasn’t attacked by any monster when he passed out.

‘Monster horde?’.

The nurse explained how there’s an earthquake shaking the entire continent, perhaps the entire world, and screams of beasts are heard, and tsunami come to crash them. Though only the outer cities are affected by the tsunami and some had protective barriers to remain unscathed.

But that’s not the end. Once the flood receded. Monsters and beasts become crazy, going out of their way from the forest, the sky and the ground to hunt every living being.

The nun added a fearful look.

‘I hear rumors about an oracle before… it might be a sign of the arrival of the demon lord’.

Vi gulped his saliva. Is she for real?

The nun keeps looking at Vi’s face strangely.

“… You are very pretty’, added the nun out of nowhere.

‘Ah… Thank you’, replied Vi while still thinking about the situation.

Vi figured it had been 3 days since he got washed away. Vi isn’t worried about the marking on Ray, because they are now in elven kingdom territory.

Considering the distance from the human territory and that this, pray it’s really not, demon lord descends phenomena, then Ray would be safe for some time.

Vi tried to sense Ray again. Though he only felt his direction. He needs to get to him.

Vi checks his body to see his space bracelet somehow intact. He sat up straight, using clean and sanitized magic, healing magic, and hyper regeneration enhancement to himself. He can’t recover his internal injury as fast as the outer ones with direct healing magic.

The nun had given him a bowl of soup. Along with that, he took out some dried food from his bag, adding meat to the soup as he munched on them. He adds so much meat into it and swallows some multivitamin capsules.

He also drank a ton of water too. The hyper regeneration enhancement would only speed up the body’s natural processes and it still needs enough nutrition in line with the speed. The drawback is that, if you don’t have enough nutrition to support it, you would eat away at your own body flesh or showing signs of deficiency like bleeding gums or other things. Also, you would have to release wastes from your body more frequently.

By the way, this spell is Vi’s self-created spell through understanding of biological processes. Stimulating release of various hormones with mana, after thorough multiple adjustments on lab rats and volunteers, with guidance by his late mentor, Vi managed to create this effect.

It’s one of the spells he created that he most proud of because he could eat a lot of food and lose weight easier. Although he gets hungry easier too. That’s how he stayed fit all these times.

After 2 days of rest and constantly applying healing magic on himself he could at least walk around now although it hurts his body a bit still. But it’s bearable.

He lends a help to Nayya, the nun to heal and elevate the injuries. A few injured men come in again. And a few treated soldiers that feels find enough went out to defend the camp.

From conversations he had, he figured the beasts actively hunt for nearby living beings. Soldiers are stationed around the city to limit the monsters invasion from breaking into the city.

The situation also led to communication between towns limited, although there’s still magic devices can be used for long distance communication but only the higher ups would know what’s going on outside and in other cities.

Vi went around to heal the injured as well, a lot of them seems to be high in spirit and even give a weird grin to Vi. Sometimes teasing him, asking if he’s single and stuff.

‘Yo he’s a man dude!”. Said the guy next to Liam. “If there’s a hole there’s a goal”, Liam proudly exclaimed.

“Am I not handsome?”, Liam was confident in his looks and directly ask Vi. Vi was embarrassed ‘Emm… yeah… but uhh…’, it’s not really a good time.

Maybe if… He doesn’t have someone tied to him now, he would have said ‘Sure’. He is open to see where relationship will take it. And he still wants to find his one true love, his soul mate and someone he can stay with. He thought about Ray.

But… Ray…

He realised he no longer feel good with Ray. Even though it’s been months with him, and physically he never had been touched for so many times for so many days in a row. Sexually they were closer than anyone had ever been. But emotionally, he felt hurt the most with Ray the longer he’s with him.

The idea that, Ray will stay like that, and he would feel hurt constantly by staying with him, it gave Vi a sense of despair. He remembered he promised Ray he would stay with him.

But he really… really want to run away.

He shook his feelings away.

He felt guilty, feeling like this. Love… did he still love Ray? He was patient with him. Always tending to him. But he felt like his own wants and needs abandoned.

He shook his thoughts away.

Liam’s joke is just to make things cheerful. The monster horde is still outside, though the wave of monsters seems to be slowly getting reduced. “Hey! Stop teasing him.”, Nayya who happened to hear the teasing slapped the bandaged arm of Liam.

‘Ouchh!!!’

“Hahaha serves you right”, added the friend by his side to add salt to the injury.

And the one elf soldier seems to be unable to look at Vi as if he’s shy.

Vi charms is very high. His soft and cute otherworldly outer temperament with unique white and violet eyes naturally deters harassment most of the time by being too far from the average people but there is still the occasional brave one. It’s like seeing most popular singer and performer who’s also a top model who’s also happens to be the Queen of the kingdom.

He does get a lot gazes and stares; Vi is used to it and he do have pride in his looks.

On the third day, Vi only felt sore walking around so he felt good enough to check the surroundings.

Although he barely has any advanced offensive spell in his repertoire, because it’s his teacher doesn’t seem to have it, and he has mostly utility spells, but even then, he can manage to hunt and kill monsters with the basic spells already as the rear dps/buffer/debuffer.

By the way Vi can use all attributes of magic well. Including life, matter, kinetic, space, gravity, all elemental attributes (division by the Magician Association). Natural talent towards the attributes making up the spell, the effect of a spell will be greatly diminished if you lack inclination for an important attribute in the particular spell.

Kinetic attributes for example, are important to apply mana for projectile formation like the standard fire ball and every other balls. Barrier spells don’t need or need only tiny amount of kinetic application meanwhile.

Since Vi is good with all attributes, Vi can pretty much cast every single type of spell with its intended effect as long as he knew it’s formula and have enough mana to cast it.

Vi saw high wooden walls around. He went to the watchtower nearby and asked for permission to look.

‘Hello mister. May I take a look at the surroundings.'.

With hesitation, he agreed to it. Of course, its because he can’t refuse such a cutie asking him politely.

He climbed the tower and soon see there’s earth or wooden barricades with spikes placed around the camp forming a circle around the camp.

There are some gaps here and there where a group of people are stationed to fend of the monster. The monster, although is in a state of bloodlust, would avoid running into the spiky barricade and choose to go through the gap.

Otherwise, a simple ditch with spikes under would solve this monster problem easily if only they are dumb enough to run straight into their death.

Vi used vision enhancement to further see the situation around. There’s a total of 8 groups places around the camp. Here Vi can only see 3.

All 3 sides are being attacked by monsters. A chicken, a boar, a snake, a monkey are seen. And Vi can see some other monsters.

It’s really bizarre because these beasts won’t usually wander out of their territory to hunt for human flesh specifically.

‘Demon lord…’, Vi wondered. Considering Erde ancient epics and fairytales, this truly might be the case.

Remembering all the fantasy stories he read in previous life, he wonders if there’s a hero chosen by God somewhere, maybe the monsters killed their parents and he swore to vanquish evil and went to slay the demon lord… or heroes summoned from otherworld or reincarnated into the world.

Wait… It’s not him, right? Vi had a very bad feeling. He had a lot of check-mark being a ‘hero’ and the male-lead.

Thinking about the Goddess in his dream, and the previous life memory, he shuddered.

‘Find the Sun’-. He remembers what She had told him.

Isn’t this, a sign he’s chosen by God for something? He just wants to live in peace, with someone he can love and be with. That’s all he wanted.

He doesn’t want to fight the demon lord!

Vi felt anxious at what’s about to come.

He doesn’t want to think about it.

Suddenly he heard a scream from a tent nearby.

“Damn it!”.

That’s where the commander stays. He wonders what’s going on.

He went back to the camp, helped to cook a meal and then treat some new patients.

He hopes this will solve soon… He needs to see Ray. Vi had a responsibility to stay with Ray, even if it hurt his heart.

Ray is still a family to him, even if his heart can no longer love him without hurting.

He can't go out because of the monster hordes.

He wanted to help, but the commander seems to not believe in his abilities despite him shoving his silver adventurer medal to his face and Vi felt he just don’t believe in him because of his appearance. It’s not like he is the frontliner.

Vi gave up after asking three times. But still there are things he still can do. He took his time to set up a barrier around the camp, in case somehow a monster manages to break the encirclement.

On the 7th day, suddenly the commander commands everyone to prepare to evacuate although the monsters are very less and they even get space to drink and do some campfire party around now.

He heard a discussion among the soldiers, that the city of Panna in the north had fallen from immortal mutated beasts.
