Chapter 15: Brutal Training, Incredible Growth(Part 6)

Chapter 15: Brutal Training, Incredible Growth(Part 6)

Due to the tremendously increased gravity within the pit, Qian Feng had been strengthened tremendously. His muscles had become far stronger, twofold, due to having to strain to move just a bit, and everything else had been toughened as well. His skin, for example, had strengthened due to constantly being ripped apart by the insanely strong gravity. The same had happened to all the other organs and bones.

And so, Qian Feng settled into a routine. He would have five days of rest, taking an increasingly potent bath every day, then move on to the next level pit. And repeat.

The fourth pit was the Frost Bane pit. It was just an empty pit filled with incredibly cold air, so cold that Qian Feng's new clothes, provided by his teacher(he enjoyed calling him whip sensei in an act of inner defiance), had frozen and shattered in an instant.

The fifth was the Hell Lake pit. It was filled with a strange liquid far beyond boiling temperature, that hadn't even started to steam. It was to the point that without prior experience or knowledge, one would have no idea of the true temperature of the liquid. It would even look like a normal pool.

The sixth was the Dragon Lash pit. This was an empty pit(it had become quite a common theme among the training areas) that featured constant, invisible sharp strikes akin to that of a whip - QIan Feng was very familiar with the feeling, and it brought back very unpleasant memories, ones that the boy did not want to remember.

The seventh was a strange and terrifying pit. No, the previous two words couldn't begin to describe it. It was... wrong. Qian Feng had to experience the feeling of flesh-eating worms burrowing into his skin, eating everything they came into contact with, crawling back out when they had their full, and dying soon after, turning into a green liquid that soaked the ground. The Iron Fox called it the Vengeful Oblivion pit, but Qian Feng preferred the name "I'd Prefer Death Compared To This Horrifying Pit That Reveals The Nonexistence Of An Omnipotent God In This World", or IPDCTTHPTRTNOAOGITW, for short.

The eighth was far more painful, but Qian Feng woul prefer it compared to the seventh any day. The Devouring Ocean pit was just a hole in the ground filled with acid that bit into the flesh and bone, that seemed to magically grow more dangerous as Qian Feng became tougher.

The final pit was called the Holy Thunder pit. As was easily surmised from the name, it was just a pit with storm clouds over it that would often let out pure white lightning three folds hotter than the water of the fifth pit. The lightning would course through his body with every strike, driving Qian Feng to the ground with every blow. His heart would amost fail every time, pausing for a moment before starting back up again weakly.

The Iron Fox was quite impressed by his student. Though Qian Feng did not notice the minute facial cues, such as the upwards twitching of an eyebrow or the straining of a lip muscle towards the master's eyes, the man's feelings did not change. The Iron Fox had honestly expected for his student to either give up early in, or take every chance to ease the training, but defying his master's expectations, Qian Feng proved his tenacity. He did all the exercises with his full power, never seriously complaining, never yielding. And the results showed as Qian Feng endured and surpassed the training usually only veterans would undergo.

One of the more painful exercise sections always involved stretching - Qian Feng's teacher seemed to possess boundless knowledge about which parts of the body were stretched by which exercises. More terrifying than that, however, was the Iron Fox's ability to pull Qian Feng's tendons and muscles to their very limits, stretching them as efficiently as possible without permanently damaging them. A very real, and unfortunate, side effect of this was the extreme pain Qian Feng felt.

The results, however, were indded undeniable, as Qian Feng went from barely being able to touch his toes(no matter how near-perfect his body cultivation and practice was, higher strength and larger muscles inevitably resulted in a loss of flexibility, which ended up affecting Qian Feng's originally extremely flexible body.

His body toughness, compared to before the entire training, had increased more than elevenfold. His strength threefold. And that was just in terms of pure body power. Qian Feng's cultivation had also increased from the strife he had experienced. His Force affinity reached the sevent level of the Martial Warrior stage, his Earth affinity the fifth, and his Life the fourth.

In 135 days, Qian Feng's power had increased tremendously, and he was ready for the next phase of his training.

"So, boy, we have more than half of the year left for pure body training. We've enhanced your body's strength, toughness, and stamina. Now, what we're going to do is a series of short trainings to increase different aspects of your body."

With nothing else to be said between them, the Iron Fox led Qian Feng off to the training field.

First off, weights were strapped on Qian Feng, and he was forced to sprint for five seconds, job for three, and repeat the cycle. This was meant to increase his explosive power.

This continued for an hour, before the next phase of the training begun. Qian Feng kept his weights on as the Iron Fox started to throw iron balls infused with Qi. These would explode if Qian Feng didn't manage to catch them in time, a feat Qian Feng found quite impressive(remote detonation is always cool).

This was supposed to increase the power of the muscles required for shifting one's center of mass.

After another hour of that, Qian Feng was treated to the next part of his training. Core strength. This was apparently required to support strength used in the arms and legs, and essential to fighting. To train this, the Iron Fox used a truly tortorous training method - the human flag.

Qian Feng was made to hold the position for an extended amount of time, while his trainer pelted stones at his stomach.

Before long, the weights started affecting him and Qian Feng felt an increasing amount of pain from every stone, despite them being thrown at the same amount of force.

An hour passed, and droplets of sweat fell incessantly on the drenched ground, the little boy's chiseled body straining to hold itself up with the weights. Each muscle twitched independently, and Qian Feng's eyes were closed shut in pain as he pushed his muscles to the limits.

The day continued this way, with Qian Feng retiring to his bed too sore to breathe deeply. He woke up before even a hint of the sun had appeared - not because of his own habits, oh no, but because of the bucket of ice-cold water splashed on him by the Iron Fox.

Due to the young boy's intense cold resistance from the training with the Nine Kings of Hell, the Iron Fox had to specially fill it with water from the fourth pit, the Frost Bane pit. Otherwise, Qian Feng wouldn't even have felt the water(this was a flaw that the Iron Fox knew would have to be corrected, but that was to be for another time).

Qian Feng's training continued this way for the rest of the year, in short little exercises meant to enhance parts of his body individually, coming together ingeniously as a whole over time. Before the training, Qian Feng's body, though strong, was not made for combat as much as pure fitness. However, with the Iron Fox's incessant drilling, Qian Feng's body became a pure, rapid, killing machine. All the muscles required for fighting became pronounced, while those absolutely useless in a fight(there were few of those) weren't focused upon as much.

With that training over in seven months(Qian Feng hadn't had the energy to keep track of the time with how hard he was working), his body overall had indeed greatly strengthened, but the main improvements were in one other field - combat potential. Qian Feng's combat potential had increased fivefold over seven months. Why? Well, while normally, that kind of increase would be impossible considering Qian Feng's base fitness before the training, the Iron Fox only focused on specific muscle groups during training, resulting in more time overall to work these muscles essential to combat.

Qian Feng had just finished his last day, and was walking towards his shelter, when the Iron Fox teleported in front of him like usual. Sporting a big smile on his face, the experienced warrior said:

"We've strengthened your body to the baseline. Now it's time to begin the real training."
