A few weeks passed since i began my training and it’s now the end of the month. Currently, I’m not in my usual training room but rather on an arena together with six of my slimes and is preparing for battle. Why? Simply because the second day of my training, brother wolf told me that he has something to do and that I must train by myself and after that, he told me that he will test me when he’s back. Then, today morning, before I even began my training, he appeared before me and told me to follow him and to bring six slimes. Then, after leading me to this arena, he said:
“Your test will be a team battle. You and your six slimes against these seven level three ice golems.”
Right, before me stood seven human sized ice statues. From their equipment and numbers, I think all seven main positions are present. These positions are the tanker, the damage dealer, the controller, the support, the mage, the ranger and the balanced with only exist on a team of seven members or more. These are also called battle styles.
Their characteristics are:
* The TANKER: vanguard. Must possess high defenses and crowd control but tend to have low attack power. Strong against ranger but weak against mage
* The DAMAGE DEALER: vanguard. Must possess high speed and attack power but tend to possess weak defenses. Strong against mage but weak against ranger
* The CONTROLLER: rearguard. Must possess high crowd control abilities. Strength and weakness with others styles varies
* The SUPPORT: rearguard. Must possess supporting abilities. Weak to all others styles
* The MAGE: rearguard. Possess the strongest firepower of all but tend to be weak at anything else. Strong against tanker but weak against damage dealer
* The RANGER: rearguard. Must possess fast ranged attacks as well as aoe or precise attacks but tend to have low damages. Strong against damage dealer but weak against tanker
* The BALANCED: middle guard. Must be able to use all styles. Strong against all others styles
Evidently, peoples rarely purely focus on a single style but rather master a few of them.
Back to topic, I made my slimes transform and enter in formation.
In front, facing the two enemy vanguards, stood three slimes wearing an ice full body armor and lifting a tower shield each. Behind me, stood the three other slimes, this time only holding an ice bow and ices arrows. Good thing that I took the time to understand my abilities. I discovered that I can make weapons having the propriety of others materials, like how these bows have all specifications of others bows despite its materials. On the other hand, if its core is destroyed, it reverts to ordinary ices. Not only that but while creating or modifying these cores consume a pretty big quantity of energy, once they’re made, their usages cost little energy and not only that, I can give them to people to use or store them inside me for later uses.
Once ready, brother wolf appeared before us and said:
“Now, let me explain the rules. Currently, you’ll fight the type of team fight called head hunting. Each team will chose a member who will be the head and the team whose head is defeated lose the match. Also, suzu, you’ll be the head of your team. And for your opponent’s head, it will be … this one, the support. So now, ready! Begin!” and he disappeared.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
The match starting, my three vanguards ignited their shields in fire and charged unto the enemies. At the same times, the opponent tank, also charged but ended blocked by one of mines, making it a tank vs tank battle. Meanwhile, their controllers summoned a few ice pillars from the ground, trapping my others tanks between them. Due to the fact that earthlings those below lv 5 cannot use true aoe skills, the enemy can only summon a few of such pillars, and used them all to trap my tanks.
During that time, their damage dealers ran past my tanks but before attaining us, was forced to retreat by my three rearguard’s flaming arrows. Meanwhile, I ran to the front to and charged to their supports, with seem to be able to use cold air to repair the others golems as well as giving them additional energy, with was the main reason their controller was able to create enough pillars to trap my tanks. Unfortunately, their ranger and balanced blocked my path until their mage finished preparing its attack. Seeing the human sized ice ball flying to me, I decided to evade but their balanced grappled me. At that time, with the sound of glass breaking, the enemy was thrown away and while being unable to evade the ice ball, I didn’t panic and continued to run forward and when the ball touched me, together with the sound of glass breaking, it simply bounced back toward the mage, destroying it. Continuing my run toward the support/head, the ranged interposed before me while continuing its attacks but in an instant, I appeared behind the head and with an ice hammer, destroyed it.
“Battle end! Suzu win. Now, you impressed me. I would have never thought that your two seconds abilities will be teleportation and reflection. These are pretty good abilities.”
While sitting due to fatigue, I replied
“To tell the truth, you’re wrong. The one looking like a teleportation was a charge type ability and the other was a defensive one who can block, disperse or reflect a single attack. Not only that but when I tried to upgrade them, the seeds weren’t absorbed and just remained inside me until they became wasted.”
“Wait! You were unable to absorb neutral seeds to upgrade them? Wait. Activate your skill that I test it.”
“I cannot. Contrary to my first two skills, these the defensive ability consume a staggering amount of energy per use. For example, while I obtained it at lv 2, I could only use it when I passed lv 3 and even now, I can only use it twice. As for the charge one, while its requirements are lower, but the cost is proportional to the distance. And that time when I used it, the enemy was just before my maximum range when using it. So, I’m completely out.”
“If so, you should rest and tell me when you’re restored. If my guess is right, you’ve stuck the jackpot.”
A week later
After an entire week testing and experimenting on my abilities, during with even my others skills were tested, it’s confirmed: I really stuck the jackpot.
The Venusians, despite the fact that their abilities are the sole not naturally possessing levels, possess the greatest variations of abilities. So, they ended creating various means of quantifying theirs abilities, some of these like the one to quantify their levels remained not used outside Venus but others like the ability quantifications ended up used even outside.
Since then, abilities were categorized unto levels:
* 0: not possessing any
* 1-3: weak
* 4-6: average
* 7-9: strong
* 10: absolutes
Amongst them, it seems that to be called absolute, an ability must either be able to copy or usurp other skills like that of my slimes, or on the contrary possessing skills having absolute attributes, like my charge, possessing the ignore defenses attributes, as well as my defense, possessing the impenetrable attribute.
