CHAPTER 534: PAINED FOR LOVE
Charles couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He was very shocked.
“Why would you do that?’
“Because-/ Aurora’s voice trailed off as she regarded Charles’ expression for a moment. “What? I thought you would like it. Don’t you?’
Charles’ face fell. “I don’t like this at all. I mean do you even know how dangerous working with Hercules is? It’s very dangerous.’
He couldn’t forget about what was currently happening to Avery or what might have happened to Aphrodite if he hadn’t found her in time.
“It’s very dangerous. I mean anything could happen at any time. The Mafia world isn’t a place for ladies, talkless of people who are even unable to protect themselves/ Charles explained.
Aurora sighed. ’But I will be with you. You will protect me from harm.
Besides, all I would be doing would be running errands. I won’t face these dangerous men.”
Charles shook his head briefly. ’I won’t allow it, Aurora. It’s too dangerous for you.”
Aurora pouted cutely. “Please^” she beseeched softly.
Charles shook his head stubbornly. “No, it’s too dangerous,” he muttered and looked away.
Aurora hugged her and continued to smile beautifully at him, with the hope to change his mind.
Avery’s heart made a sudden thud in her chest as she awaited the doctor.
Emma and Benjamin were beside her and rubbing her sweaty palms.
“You will be fine,” Benjamin assured.
But Avery wasn’t so sure. She was so scared. It was finally the day that she would enter the surgery room for the correction of her sight.
Though, the doctor said he wasn’t sure if more harm would be done. And he didn’t know if the sight could really be restored. The result of the operation was not known.
This was why Avery was very scared. She didn’t know if she was supposed to leave the issue and battle with lost sight for the rest of her life.
Grey_ she has always thought about him. It was because of him that she was currently in the position she was in anyways. It was only a miracle that she didn’t die instantly. Yet, she didn’t know what type of emotions she was supposed to feel.
“The doctor said you will be fine. The success of the surgery is 80 percent/ she assured.
She didn’t know that Avery already heard when she was discussing it with Benjamin about it. They thought that Avery was asleep and were conveniently discussing the issue between themselves.
Avery released a sigh. “I overheard what you and Dad discussed,” she said suddenly.
Emma and Benjamin jerked back in shock.
“You did?” Benjamin didn’t even know what he was supposed to say.
Avery let out an exasperated sigh. “It’s ok. It’s actually good to know one’s fate. There’s actually no bad in trying. And if something else happens, then so be it.”
“No! Nothing will happen to you!” Emma said quickly. Her heart was still heavy at the fact that Avery was in that position. She would really die if something else happens to her.
Avery couldn’t scent Grey anywhere asides from the first day she discovered the truth about her sight.
And they didn’t even talk about it. Well, there was nothing to discuss at that moment.
Avery couldn’t think of anything aside from her eyes at those moments. It felt like all hope was lost on her.
But at that moment, she wanted to hug him again. She wanted to scent him again. She wanted to be hugged tight to his chest like he did the other day.
If nothing, it was what Avery deeply wanted. It was the only reason why she wanted to live even though she knew that she wouldn’t be useful to Grey with her current condition.
Even though, she tried to convince herself that Grey was around and just couldn’t show up because of her parent.
But she still remembers everything that had transpired between them before she got kidnapped. She remembered everything that Grey had said to her, words for words.
She definitely meant nothing to him. Grey didn’t love her and would never do. She laid her life for someone who doesn’t even value her.
The thought of it brought fresh tears to her eyes and she didn’t even know when she started crying.
Emma’s hand around her went tighter. “Oh, Avery, my daughter. Please, don’t cry,” she consoled.
Avery couldn’t stop it, she just couldn’t. So, she let it flow willingly, especially since her parent merely thought she was crying because of the predicament she had gotten herself into.
But she couldn’t even think about it. She could only think about Grey. The only thing on her mind was Grey.
“Please, don’t cry. I’m sure everything will be alright,” Emma assured but Avery cried the more.
She cried so hard as if it would get rid of the pain in her heart. But that didn’t happen, instead, it multiplied. It felt like her heart was going to rip into two.
Emma, seeing that Avery wasn’t going to stop crying, pulled her into a hug. Avery sobbed while Emma stroked her back slowly.
Grey knew actually, that that day was Avery’s surgery day. But he couldn’t see her like other days because her parents were with her.
He didn’t want to complicate matters for her especially because they were just getting along. Avery didn’t want to have anything to do with her parent earlier which wasn’t good. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
If Grey had the opportunity of seeing his parents, he would be very happy about it. So, he wouldn’t deny someone of that because of him.
So, he watched Avery from afar, for a while. And his heart shattered into pieces when he saw her crying. She was probably bothered about the surgery.
He was as well. Especially when the doctor said it was a 50% chance. But he had no choice. The surgery had to happen for her to get her sight restored.
And then, he wondered how much Avery hated him now since he caused her predicament.
Maybe that was what was currently happening. But he was still going to make sure everything got sorted out.
