Interlude for Chapter 16

The rabbit ran with all his might. But its legs gave out and soon, after avoid his pursuers, laid down.

The barren land gave the rabbit no comfort, and much less food. The black grass only gave disease. Poisoning the animals. The rabbit and many other fell like this and were starved for food.

The rabbit ear sparked up to the approach of a fox. Its orange fur stuck out completely on the black background. It made no attempt to hide its movements or be concealed.

It found the tied rabbit and dropped its jaw to snatch it up, but soon fell to the side of the hard and infertile ground. The rabbit now had the chance to run.

It's struggled, but to avail, It strength was gone. The rabbit was dying for the lack of food. Herbivores like the rabbit were dying fastest.

The animals numbers fell dramatically and many went to cannibalism or died like the fox was doing right now.

It that moment the rabbit made a wish. Memories of better times soon filled his tiny brain. It wanted to live but had no means to satisfy the wish.

The rabbit's ear soon shot up and the sound of rock and pebbles falling down. The ground shock as the larger boulders caved in and the giant mass of rocks fell. It had been seconds, but-

-But everything around the rabbit had changed.

A color-filled the dark world. A lush and vibrant green. Grass soon rose, finding the stretch to break the hard ground. One such blade was close to the mouth of the rabbit. He nibbled on it. A fire spread thru him. Surges of life poured into its body.

It struggled, but it got back up on four legs. A shadow loomed over it. It moved it head around to see a man standing over it.

“I hope that fulfills your wish." He moved over to the fox and offer it a something. Its mouth moved and it shot up with amazing speed. The man got up for his knee position and walked away.

Soon animals began to surge toward the oasis of green. A light in the dark realm that lived in.

The animals were eating to their fill. The man with a relaxed look watched the scene play out.

“That one wish granted. Being king sure isn't an easy thing.” He rubbed his blonde hair and sighed and then without a sound the man was gone off to answer the other voices that called his name. A gust of wind blew and the man was gone.
