“Master, there is an atmospheric disturbance closing in on your position.”
“Understood, my sensors detected it as well. Provide me a close-up video of the disturbance along with its trajectory.”
“Right away, master.”
As I await the information, I set up the repair assistance vehicle into encampment mode and analyzer the info sent to me.
The display shows video of a tornado with its projected trajectory heading towards my position.
Something about that tornado looks different.
“Computer, analyze the tornado’s composition.”
“The tornado’s composition is that of a normal tornado found on just about any planet however, I am detecting a large number of spectral anomalies contained within, master.”
That is a curious development.
“What is your current progress of Continent Asgard?”
“Current conversion progress is thirty-one percent, master.”
I set the repair assistance vehicle back into transport mode and leave towards my original destination but, making sure to avoid the tornado’s trajectory.
“Computer, I will continue on my course to the eighteenth launch facility. What is your estimated completion time?”
“The estimated completion time should fall within five to six day-night cycles, master.”
I will need to investigate this anomaly later.
There will need to be ample livable space before I restore those trapped spectral anomalies.
Yeah, there needs to be a place to start over.
“Computer, using my trajectory, is there any Kirtov in that area?
“Master, I detect one at the coordinates by your trajectory endpoint.”
I will have to remain vigilant.
I continue on my way until I reach the farthest part of the third letter ᚾ.
The site is completely destroyed and looking out at the nearby launch facilities there is barely anything remaining denoting that these were sites even existed.
I continue investigating the remains.
The sites were indeed hastily constructed with no possibility for reuse.
While I continue assessing the launch facilities, I look for any possible hidden facilities if my hypothesis is incorrect.
As I get closer to the suspected eighteenth facility, I decide to dismount and survey the area and see one of the launch facilities destroyed by a crater.
This must have been where the Kirtov landed.
I try to enhance my vision to focus on the crater.
There’s nothing in there.
Suddenly, my vision is blocked and I jump back while drawing my weapon.
I fire shots at it and it backs away while dodging.
How are they avoiding my sensors?
What’s up with these things?
I continue backing away while firing at the Kirtov.
Three of my shots hits and it roars out in pain.
While it’s stunned, I continue firing and finally it goes down.
Like the other one I encountered this one begins to repair its wounds and I begin syphoning off the Vitran Particles using my right hand while I ready my left in the air incase the overload happens like last time.
“Warning! Vitran Particle overload!”
Indeed, Vitran Particle overload has begun.
This also somewhat confirms these Kirtov have been altered in some way by someone for some reason.
I vent the particles as I keep syphoning and the Kirtov crumbles to dust.
The particles that vent fall to the ground like before but I notice some particles seem to be trailing off toward my suspected location.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
The ground springs to life with various plants and insect life.
Once I am able to normalize the amount of Vitran Particles in my body, I take note of the direction the stray particles were traveling and follow them.
It seems my deduction may have been correct.
The particle repair stops before the entrance to a building.
It seems the particles were unable to travel any further to whatever was attracting them.
I see the remains of not a launch facility but a building.
Like the launch sites the building was made in a hasty way and not built to last.
It was most likely a facility used to monitor the launch procedures.
I clear away the rubble from the entrance and make my way inside.
As I walk the inside of the building, I pay key attention to the floor area.
I notice a console that seems to be covering something.
Pushing it aside it reveals a hole with a ladder.
I climb down the ladder and reach the bottom.
“Set visor to dark environment mode.”
As I turn around with the ladder to my back, I notice a large door with a panel off to the right side of it.
I extend my fingers and apply some power to the panel.
The lights turn on and the panel illuminates.
I set my hand on the panel.
“Computer, brute force into the security panel and open the doors.”
“Initiating brute force against security measures, master.”
The doors open and the room beyond is illuminated revealing four-person sized tubes utilizing a glass like substance.
Three of the tubes are laid out in a triangular formation with the fourth set in the middle of the triangle.
The outside tubes are empty but the middle one, labeled “Project Lucretta”, contains a metallic skeletal structure and what appears to be a primitive version of the binary heart that powers every Vitan Series Environmental Repair Cyborg.
This must be what was attracting the Vitran Particles.
I walk toward the middle tube and begin examining it further.
Just I draw closer an alarm goes off from computer.
“Spectral anomaly detected.”
The spectral anomaly suddenly appears within the tube.
WHOA! I knew it was there but still it surprised me.
It is a grey mostly humanoid shape with no defined features and appears to be unable to leave the tube.
I will leave it for now as something is amiss with my systems.
“Computer, I am experiencing some intermittent emotional interference. By my count it would appear to be my third instance. Please check my systems.”
“Master, I am detecting some residual spectral data dating back to your interaction with the Terran Spectral Anomaly.”
Most interesting.
A parting gift perhaps?
“Computer, isolate and quarantine the Terran Anomaly Remnant.”
“Quarantine complete, master.”
“I will continue my progress in this laboratory. Ready a repair attachment for my weapon.”
“Attachment is ready for retrieval, master.”
Now that the issue concerning the Terran Anomaly Remnant is resolved, I will need additional Vitran Particles in order to restore this spectral anomaly.
The anomaly floats around the tube hitting the glass like substance like it is trying to escape.
Perhaps it was this anomaly that was summoning the Vitran Particles earlier.
I surmise its behavior is probably in reaction to my own particles.
