I was never the biggest believer in second chances when it comes to life and death. But when you're in the face of death, you start to entertain the thought.
I had begun to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and regret was the only thing I could feel. The feeling like I haven't done enough with my life came over me, and I started to cry uncontrollably.
Deep within my thoughts, a sudden voice had called out to me, "Why are you crying, my child?" the mysterious voice said. I opened my watery eyes to see a figure of light that looked like a man standing in front of me.
I thought this must be some pre-death hallucinations, or the meds the doctor had me on. I gave my head a good shake, wiped my eyes, and looked back at the figure of light.
Again the figure called out, "Why are you crying, my child?"

"I'm about to die, and I have nothing but regret in my heart; I want another chance at life," I said, holding back my tears.
The figure of light gave a slight grin and put his hand onto my shoulder. "Would you like a second chance?" the figure said.
His hand was warm, and I immediately felt soothed by his touch. I turned to him and looked into his eyes. They were like the most piercing eyes I had ever seen, and his eyes gleamed with fire and light. Was this man God?..I had forgotten entirely about his question.
"Sorry I got distracted. What was your question?" I said,
"Would you want a second chance at life?" he replied with a smile.
This was my chance to restart brand new. Without hesitation, I said "yes."
The figure of light got up and walked towards the window of my hospital room overlooking the city. He leaned up onto the glass and said, "So be it," and suddenly, the figure and everything around me disappeared.
I was floating in a deep dark void. I couldn't tell down from up nor left to right. I was frightened but also calmed in a way like I had been here before. Deja vu, I guess.
A small light had appeared in front of me. Its size grew more and more. Was I getting closer? Or was the light getting bigger? As the light got closer and closer to me, I could hear muffled voices. I could only make out a few words, "push...push...almost there" what was happening...was I being born?
