Aegis, a world vastly different from my own, where magic, mystical creatures, and swordsmanship reign supreme, rendering guns and bombs insignificant in the face of mystical power.
Among the six continents of this extraordinary realm lies the kingdom of Daenerys, founded by a legendary sorcerer's queen. Little is known about her, but tales of her immense power abound. In this wondrous kingdom, there's the esteemed Kudrow family.
Once commoners, the Kudrow family rose to prominence due to their valorous deeds during a pivotal war seventeen years ago. Rewarded with land and a prestigious title during the war, the Kudrow family became renowned as the mightiest in the kingdom of Daenerys. Remarkably, even the maids and butlers of our household are said to possess formidable combat prowess.
The name Kudrow is respected all over the kingdom of Daenerys, and I, Ethan, who has taken possession of this body, realize that I am the heir to this family.
"So much power will be in my hands, huhuhu," Ethan thought, chuckling.
"Why do you have that creepy smile on your face?" asked a young girl as she approached Ethan.
Ethan cleared his throat and glanced at the little girl, reflecting to himself, 'I forgot to mention, I also have a little sister.' He smirked internally, realizing, 'She might appear small and cute, but she can be quite annoying.'
"What's that look on your face?" she asked, her annoyance evident.
"It's nothing, I'm just thinking," Ethan replied, casually waving his hands.
Disregarding Ethan's peculiar weird expression, she said, "Never mind, don't tell." Then she continued, "So, how are you feeling now?"
"I'm fine. So, where are Dad and Mom?"
"They are waiting for you. I told them I would come get you instead. Brother, would you like to join us for dinner today?" The little girl spoke, a strange smile hung on her face.
"Yes, lead the way, Mabel," Ethan responded ignoring the expression on her face.
He then followed his little sister towards their family's dinner gathering.
Mabel, she's my little sister. Said to be very talented with the use of the sword at just 13 years old, and by the way, I seem to be 16 years old.
Finally, they both arrived at a huge door where soldiers were standing guard. As the door opened, two people were seen sitting at a large dining table with lots of food being served.
"Ethan, how are you?" his mother asked with a warm smile.
"I'm fine, Mom," Ethan replied with a reassuring smile.
"Sorry, I was nowhere to be seen. There were some matters that needed my attention outside. Your father must have told you, right?" She smiled apologetically, referring to Ethan's father as the possible source of information.
"......" Ethan looked at his father, and their eyes met. He could sense his father's eyes urging him to tell a lie.
'It's also my fault; I didn't even ask about her, Ethan thought, feeling a pang of guilt for not inquiring about his mother's absence earlier'.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"Yes, he told me. You don't need to worry; we both spent lots of time together. With father telling me about most of the things, I seem to have forgotten," Ethan explained, sensing a hint of jealousy in his mother's expression.
"Oh really? I'm happy you had fun," his mother replied, but her smile seemed forced, and there was a slight edge to her tone. It was evident that she was trying to hide her jealousy, but her feelings were still apparent to Ethan.
"Now let's eat," the man said, breaking the tension in the room. Both couples looked at each other with fiery eyes, hinting at the competitive nature between them.
"....." Ethan observed the silent exchange between his parents, feeling the unresolved emotions lingering beneath the surface.
These past four days, I have spent my time learning about this world and my family from my father. Ethan reflected on his experiences, gaining insights into the complexities of his family dynamic and the powerful individuals they were.
Jonathan Kudrow, a formidable swordsman and one of the strongest men in the kingdom, possesses unstoppable force, fearlessly facing hordes of foes with awe-inspiring skill. He effortlessly defeats dozens, leaving behind trails of defeated enemies in his wake. His swordsmanship is renowned and said to be unparalleled, making him a true powerhouse on the battlefield.
'Though, I'm sure that my father exaggerated some parts to look cool hehe' he thought chuckling.
And
Mills, despite her beautiful and tender smile, she is said to be a powerful witch capable of displaying unparalleled power by effortlessly taking on hordes of foes, overwhelming dozens of skilled fighters with ease. Her mastery of magic and combat prowess makes her a fearsome force to be reckoned with in the world of battles, especially against her enemies. It seems my sister has inherited my father's talent instead.
And in front of their two kids, they seem like two beautiful couples who can't harm anyone. Ethan observed how his parents presented a serene and loving image to their children, hiding their fierce rivalry from their innocent gazes.
In the past few days, I have learned about the deep love they both possess for their kids. However, I've also noticed that the reason they act like they want their kids to love one of them more is that they are both competitive towards each other; they don't want to lose in their affections. It's interesting to see how their fierce rivalry extends even into their role as parents, all while trying to maintain a loving facade in front of us.
'Hehehe, it's amusing and cute' Ethan chuckled to himself.
As the night deepened, we all ate, engaged in various conversations, and I mostly listened, trying to absorb as much information as I could about this new world. Afterward, we dispersed to tend to our respective tasks. As for me, I spent my time reading until it was dark, engrossed in the world of books, eager to learn more about this captivating realm.
I then walked out to the roof, seeking peace in the beauty of the night sky. As I stared at the stars above, a voice startled me.
"Wow, the sky sure is beautiful," someone emerged from the shadows on the roof.
"Mom, aren't you in bed already?" Ethan questioned, surprised to see his mother out on the roof at this late hour.
"Mabel is with your father; I just wanted to check up on you," she smiled, replying to Ethan in a calm tone and then she continued. "I don't feel like sleeping. I feel anxious, but I'm glad you are here; we can use this time to talk instead."
".... Okay."Ethan replied pleased.
We both stayed out on the roof, engaging in conversation about various topics, including how both couples met during the war and many other things.
"Things sure are peaceful now. I wish things would stay this way for our family forever. Your father and I want nothing more than to protect you," Millis expressed her heartfelt desire.
For the first time, Ethan felt a new kind of emotion stirring in his heart.
'I guess this is nice. I guess I have made up my mind.'
"Mom, I will do everything to make sure I protect this family, I promise," Ethan vowed with unwavering determination.
Millis smiled and embraced Ethan, feeling the warmth of her son's resolute commitment.
"..........."
"Wow, Mom, what's that coming towards us? It looks beautiful," Ethan exclaimed, pointing to the approaching light in the sky.
'It looks beautiful, but what's that speed and that energy? It's like something nuclear,' he thought, a hint of concern creeping into his mind.
"Ethan, get down!" Millis urgently shouted, raising her hands to defend against the incoming danger.
As the mysterious object approached, Millis acted swiftly, trying to shield her son from the danger approaching them from the sky. Her magical prowess illuminated the night as she prepared to face the threat. Ethan, too, braced himself, his heart pounding with a mix of fear and curiosity.
"What's happening, Mom?" Ethan's voice trembled with fear.
With every promise comes a test, and the true test of their strength and unity was about to unfold in the magical country of Daenerys.
